We stayed in one of the tower rooms. Out In the parks all day so only used the hotel to sleep/shower/ have a pool side drink in the evening. Did not eat there.

PROS - great location, bed and pillows very comfortable, spacious and clean, relaxing pool in the evening.

CONS - dated, hair drier heated out twice and had to get maintenance to fix it - the first time they fixed it very promptly the second time took longer as the maintenance man had a lot of stuff to fix! Had less towels one day as they had run out of clean towels.

OVERALL - 3 star (at most) accommodation. comfortable and good location.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on TripAdvisor. It is through such candid feedback that we continue to improve upon our product and services. We are most pleased that you generally found the resort and staff met your expectations. Again thank you for kind words, we will meet as a team and discuss our hairdryers and increasing the amount of towels we put in rooms.

We were worried about our booking due to the trip advisor reviews but we shouldn't have worried!
We were on the 14th floor of the tower. Our room was clean, huge & had everything we needed or wanted. Lifts worked fine & never had to wait very long for one. The staff in both bars & on reception were good fun & very helpful. The pool area was gorgeous, great cocktails, clean, loads of sun loungers & was open late which was perfect for a soak after a long day at the parks. The Sofas & Fire pits were dangerously comfortable with a beer!
Location was perfect. Across the road from Ponderosa for buffet breakfasts, I-Ride stop just outside, roughly 30 min walk from Universal Studios which is handy for City Walk nights out.
Would definitely return.

Room Tip: No complaints about the tower rooms, we had a great view of Hogwarts

We stayed for 10 nights in a tower room in December 2012 and have booked to go back December this year as a group of 12 to celebrate my upcoming 50th birthday. The rooms are clean and spacious with coffee maker and microwave. The beds are very comfortable. The staff at the hotel are brilliant and always helpful and polite. This hotel is not 5 star, if you want 5 star then pay 5 star money, but then doesn't pretend to be either it is a very good and genuine value for money hotel with good location, good facilities and good staff.

Look forward to seeing you all on 12th December :-D

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in August 2013. There are two types of hotel rooms. Rooms in the tower, or rooms in the blocks. We were in the blocks which are like pool side rooms. Apparently the tower rooms are nicer, but we were really close to the pool :) Whereas people from the tower would have to walk across the car park. The room we stayed in was clean, but not modern or anything amazing. There was an air con machine thing which was more like a fan. When we first arrived there it wasn't on, which wasn't pleasant because we were tired after our 12hr flight which was delayed, and absolutely boiling. But when turned on, it worked quite well. The bathroom and the whole room was clean, but like I said it was nothing special. We went out everyday for the majority of the day so therefore the room acted as a decent base, and was fine just for sleeping in.

The restaurant you had to pay extra for, so we either ate breakfast at the Ponderosa which was across the road. The food there is amazing and well priced! And we also bought a box of Lucky Charms and a bottle of milk from Walmart, plus a set of bowls which we would eat our cereal in on most mornings. We tried to fill up on breakfast, so that we could have a late lunch, then not really need dinner. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant.

The pool was very nice! Some of the sunbeds were broken so therefore a bit uncomfortable. We never spent whole days by the pool. We normally either went down in the morning or in the evening. There is also a hot tub which is very hot!! It has some bubbles but they're not always on and aren't amazing. There's also an alligator walk where they have gators and turtles for you to look at. There's also some outdoor seating with a couple of fire pits. They sell s'mores kits for you to use but they were a bit of a rip off, so we just bought our own grahams crackers, marshmallows and hersheys choc from walmart. Then I just went and asked for a s'mores roasting stick and he gave me one! Was yummy!

The wifi is free and the code is 'Palms' however, it's not very good. I wasn't able to go on anything with it. There's a poolside bar which is nice :)

Overall, it's very good if you're looking for a base/somewhere just to sleep, and somewhere that is close to all the parks. If you want more of a relaxing, chill by the pool for 10 days type holiday, go somewhere a bit smarter :)

Room Tip: Tower is apparently nicer but you have to walk across the car park to get to the pool. We were in th...

This hotel was lovely the staff were brilliant ,there is nothing bad about this hotel, i was a bit worried on reading some peoples reviews but honestly if you want a five star you have to pay for a five star, so i don't understand some people, the pool was fantastic the food good in a fantastic location , ponderosa across the road lots to do and eat near by,so the location really good , the rooms are clean and the beds are lovely and comfy only fault about the room really could do with another set of Draws in room has only one set and there was four off us this really needs doing. but we managed. so would not be put staying at this hotel again, i would recommend this hotel to family and friends really had a amazing time.

Room Tip: block d is the best or block b ask for refebished rooms near pool.

First off, let me say that the front desk staff were helpful.
After a 12 hour journey to get to the hotel; we were allocated the dreaded tower, as I had already emailed the hotel (they hadn't received it), I was allocated a pool room. As already mentioned, I was left with a map, load of suitcases and two children, to find the room, when I did, the disappointment, after two years of saving for our dream holiday, left me breathless!
The room is nothing short of a motel from a seedy crime movie, loud air con, which spews water and heat out of the room, old stained furniture, two beds (with stained sheets), no hanging space, filthy bathroom, you may see the word "filth" appear a lot in this review, to sum up the whole room from fridge to toilet was filthy.
Went to reception, queue a mile long, debated moving to infamous tower block, spoke to some people who had been there a week already, who said the tower was just as bad....I had to weigh up the pros and cons and the safety aspect, as a lone adul...
Spent an hour cleaning the room.
Spoke to the staff on numerous occasions about the room, blocked sink, no toilet roll, no cleaning by maids, sheets were never changed, towels hardly ever replaced, faulty electrics, faulty remote control...the list is endless....whilst the staff were nice, they could not move me somewhere else.....i.e. another hotel !
Security issues were also worrying, anyone can walk off the street to the pool area, witnessed numerous drug deals around the pool; inappropriate adults and dangerous behaviour, bear in mind there is no lifeguard, and adults constantly dive bombing where children are swimming. Constantly no sunbeds, whole area is filthy, toilets were filthy....(theres that word again)...
Had dinner and breakfast, very expensive and not particularly nice...
For me, the biggest thing is the fact that this is such a full on holiday, we believe we ought to overlook the fact that the hotel is such a state because it is "just a base" etc...but basic standards of hygiene and security should be expected wherever you stay, and I can certainly say that after the initial excitement of Disney, Universal etc etc, this awful awful hotel will be even more obvious!
International Drive has unfortunately become terribly seedy and sad looking, everywhere is in need of a facelift. I did not feel safe as a lone woman.
If you go with Thomson do not be fooled by the new dreamliner either; the hype does not live up to the experience! staff are not interested in complaints either....
My advice would be to stay away from International Drive, and if you can afford a quality hotel either on Universal or Disney then do so, if you cannot afford it, then stick to Europe....I wish I had done....

Room Tip: Do not book this hotel !
