I drove three hours to the hotel just becuase the next day my daughter had a very early am appointment. Frist, the food was terrible and over priced. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean except for the horrendous carpets. However, since we were only going o be there for a night it wasn't a big issue. Since my cell phone was low in chargeI called to set up a wake up call for 6:00 a.m. since the room hotel alarm clock was not working . Well they never put in the wake up call so we missed the appointment. Basic customer service skills in this hotel are lacking. I called right away to complain and I was just put on hold for 15 minutes. Called back again and spoke to a supervisior. Told her I had just wasted all this money on a hotel room and the horrible food and the gas to get there just so my daughter could make an early am appt and due to her incompetent staff no wake up call was given. Her resolution- waive the 7.95 resort fee. Yup, that's all- waive 7.95 off the bill. Ridiculous. We have to come down twice a month for appt's and they just lost all of our business. Not a nice hotel and even worse customer service! Avoid.

Thank you for choosing International Palms Resort and taking the time to comment on your recent stay with us. I was pleased to hear that you found the bed comfortable and the guestroom clean. I will pass along your feedback to our hard working housekeeping team. As you may have noticed, the Resort is near completion of a comprehensive renovation that includes new guestroom carpet along with many other niceties throughout the property to improve the guest experience. While we receive many compliments on our culinary staff and Chef Michelle’s handy work, it does sound like you were dissatisfied with your menu selection. Regarding menu prices, we strive for exceptional value throughout all Resort outlets as we recognize and respect the importance of quality and affordable dining for our traveling families. We frequently survey local restaurant establishments to remain highly competitive, consistent and feature items at or well below neighboring resorts in the Orlando and International Drive area. In addition, we offer many daily and seasonal specials including Kids Eat Free and Buy One Dinner and Get One Dinner Free just to name a few. I do apologize for the missed wake up call and malfunctioning alarm clock and trust that you and your daughter ultimately made your appointment. You were correct in vocalizing your dissatisfaction with the manager on duty as this is how we can best respond to your immediate needs and improve our service levels for all our guests. Our ongoing commitment to training at the front desk and throughout the Resort will ensure that we meet and exceed guest expectations. I encourage you to give us another opportunity to demonstrate the service levels, culinary acumen along with experiencing the renovated amenities and facilities that have made the new International Palms Resort one of the most popular family vacation values in all of Orlando.
Kind Regards,
Jim Bullock

We stayed in Feb 2011, this being the 5th time we had been to Orlando. We chose this hotel as it fit our price bracket, and we thought - hey, the reviews werent all bad. How wrong we were. The tower felt like a prison. The lift clanked like a geriatric robot. The room was dingy, the aircon sounded like a freight train. The furniture was chipped and in a sad state of repair, the locks on the doors (quite crucial, this), were garbage (you could see rooms where they had been forced - mine included). If not for the factvthat i wasnt in tere very often and kept ALL my valuables on me, It would have ruined the trip. However - I got to see the final launch of space shuttle Discovery, so it kind of muted my annoyance. I hope they SERIOUSLY renovate all the rooms soon. The only real positive I suppose was that there was a very nice man on the desk who helped us out corteously and responsibly whenever i needed him. Sir, I salute you.

Thank you for selecting International Palms Resort as you witnessed the final launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery – quite spectacular I understand! Our proximity to the Kennedy Space Center - just about one hour away - makes our Resort the ideal location to enjoy the theme parks of Orlando and the pristine beaches of Cocoa Beach along the Space Coast. I will share your positive comments regarding our front desk staff – it is indeed a crucial position here or any hotel and we continue to hire good people-oriented staff and provide them with ongoing guest engagement traing. Yes, when we purchased the resort over a year ago, renovation and improvements were made a top priority. The good news is we are nearly complete with a property-wide renovation of our facilities and amenities to enhance the guest experience. This includes the Tower rooms, carpet and furniture along with the pool and public areas. Our Tower guestrooms are the most popular of all our guest accommodations as they are larger than a standard guestroom and the higher elevations offer nice views of Universal Studios and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on one side and vibrant International Drive on the other. Regarding the safety of personal belongings, all of our 652 guestrooms come with a complementary safe for your personal convenience and peace of mind – we are one of only a few hotels and resorts in Orlando that offer this important amenity to our valued guests free of charge. While we did our best to minimize noise as well as any visual distractions associated with these exciting changes, it appears that you may have experienced a pre-renovation room in the Tower building – we do apologize for any inconvenience that our improvement process may have caused you during your visit. Thank you for your business and valuable feedback and we do hope that you will allow the new International Palms Resort to be of service to you once again the next time your travel plans take you to Orlando.

Worst hotel ever! Do not be fooled by the pictures on their website! When you get there it looks nothing like the pictures! Hotel is not clean and you can do WAY better for the same price at a nicer hotel.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us during your recent visit to Orlando. We truly value and openly encourage specific guest input and suggestions as it allows us the opportunity to improve the overall guest experience and better prepare for your next visit. While your comments were certainly to the point, additional detail would allow us to directly respond to your personal observations. The photographs found on our web site are indeed images of our near complete property- wide renovation. As we approach the final stages of these significant improvements, additional pictures will be offered for your review. Guestrooms, lobby, restaurant, pool area along with other key amenities are in the process of being refreshed; many already complete and occupied by very happy guests enjoying International Drive and the popular theme parks just minutes from the Resort. The summer is still young and there are so many exciting events scheduled at Disney, Universal and Sea World over the next few weeks. On behalf of management and staff, your personal satisfaction is our highest priority so please consider returning for a personal tour of the new International Palms Resort.

A nice place to stay for the money, $94.00 a night with the breakfast and the breakfast buffet was nothing to sneeze at either. Fresh fruit, scrambled eggs two types, hot & cold cereals, bacon/sausage, potatoes, muffins/bagels, etc.. Make sure you ask for the bed and breakfast. Our stay was Sunday – Thursday at this price. The pool was awesome, however tended to get very crowded which I wondered why? Generally everyone is at a park or something during the day.. Plenty of things for the kids to do at this place… Our room was small considering we just came from Daytona and had an efficiency room. I would go back again for the same price. The location was really good since it was right in I-Drive and a 5 minute drive to Universal Walk.

Stayed 10-17th June 2011. Got a very good deal through Monarch holidays. We are a couple 30 and 31 in age, no children.

We've been to Orlando three times previous to this and can say this was our best trip.

Check in: could be better. Pulled up, took out cases, went to desk. Told we were in a renovated room in the tower so had to put cases back in car and drive around to the tower.

Room 1: we got a lovely room in the tower. Unfortunately the tower was under construction work and it was full of builders in and out of the elevators with equipment, was dusty and all we wanted to do was rest and with drilling and hammering going o. We couldn't. The tv also had a green colour to the picture.

Room 2: so we moved rooms. Quite simple to do, however second room wasn't as updated as the tower one. The second was in the main building. It was fine, a little smaller but still had the same micro, safe, fridge, a/c. And the tv wasn't green. This room was also closer to the pool. The finishes of the room were dated, walls were yellow, the rubber bathmat glued into the bath. The shower is over the bath with the toilet next to it. Outside this room is the sink with the clothes rail opposite. It was perfectly serviceable. The beds were the best we've ever had on vacation.

Pool: gorgeous. Lots of children running around but it's Orlando so you expect that. The Tikki pool hut bar advertises happy hour cocktails all day on Sat and Sun. In reality these are 2 drinks; vodka cranberry and rum and coke at $3 each. expect to pay $6-8 per cocktail otherwise. Can't comment on beer prices as we brought our own in a polystyrene coolbox.... much cheaper.

Gym: nothing special. 3 treadmills, cycle and 2 cross trainers. All work ok in an a/c room, it was never busy. Towels are in there as well as wipes, ice cold water fountain (tip: bring water bottle to pool and refill using gym's water fountain as gym is right next to pool).

Resort fee: hate these. You pay $7.31 incl tax for use of the pool, gym, free paper at reception (they go by noon though), wifi. Fee is mandatory. Wifi is a little slow but you manage. The one at the pool is under 'pool bar hut' and in he room we selected '89' rather than '87' as that worked better (that'll make more sense if you're here!).

Location: excellent. Although Univerrsal studios are just a mile a way, it's too hot to walk that in June. We drove in the day and went to the cinema there at night and got a cab for $8 each way incl tip. Bars nearby? All seem to be inside restaurants. Chilis across the street to the right has all day happy hour drinks on house margaritas, house wines and lagers. TGIs close by has their HH 4-7pm. Perfect I-Drive location.

All in all, we got a great deal but it was only worth what we paid, more. If we had more cash we'd stay at the Hard Rock at Universal! For a cheap get away it's ideal. The rooms are dated so don't expect perfect finishes but the beds are comfy the wifi is good and the pool is outstanding.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 10 nights in May 2011. The first room we got put in we were advised it had recently been refurbished but when we got in the safe wasnt working, the shower was hanging off the wall, there was a horrible smell of old air freshner! So we asked to move rooms and we stayed in the block which I think was called B. The room was not too bad, everything worked and we got towels and beds made every day. Only thing is I had some nasty bites which I have now been told are bed bug bites! I seen some reviews online about this hotel having bed bugs but didnt realise they were until I returned home and they spread and turned purple! Hotel is good for walking around I. drive and Universal themeparks, right next to Wet n Wild but probably wouldnt stay here again.....
