Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista - Disney Springs™ Area
Ranked #148 of 340 Hotels in Orlando
Reviewed January 5, 2011

We booked an 8 day stay at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort over Christmas. We booked a business floor room with a downtown Disney View. The room was clean, and fit our needs. The view was very good, and we were able to watch the EPCOT fireworks from our room. Another great benefit of this resort is they participate in Disney Magic Hours. Each day one park opens early, and one stays open late. This is only for Disney and Hilton Guests. This saves a lot of wait time.

Check In-
There was no wait to check in, and our room was ready upon arrival.

Breakfast-
Business Floor Rooms include breakfast. We ate every breakfast at the Hilton. They had a nice spread of food. Each morning they had Bagels, Cereal, Muffins, Croissants, Fresh Fruit, Scrambled Eggs, Potatoes, Sausage, Bacon or Ham, and Oatmeal. Then they had bottled water, bottled soda, then fresh fruit juice, orange juice, and coffee. The extra we paid for the room we saved on breakfast. We took bottled water and soda to the room with us to take for the park (Disney charges 2.50 for bottled water). We also brought bagels and muffins to the room for an afternoon snack.

Bus Transport-
The buses run every 30 minutes to all the parks, and then twice daily to the outlet mall. Every bus was there at the time they said. However the bus services 3 other hotels. It can take awhile to get to the parks, and you might also have to stand.

Golf-
We booked a tee time at the Walt Disney World Resort. Hilton provided free town-car transportation to and from the course, and Hilton guests receive a discount on Disney Golf.

Pools-
The hotel has 2 pools, and a kiddie pool. Both were clean and heated. They show dive in movies.

Housekeeping-
Room was cleaned by 3 everyday.

Overall we had a very pleasant stay at the Hilton. No problems. The room was clean, and it was a nice hotel.

We got a deal on the Hilton for $99 a night through hotwire, last minute. The only additional cost we incurred was a self parking fee of $10 a night.
Check in was quick and easy. Self parking lot is huge and because we checked in late in the evening we ended up with a long walk back to the hotel. Our room was clean and modern. Nice view of the small lake in front of the hotel . It was very quiet and we never heard noise from the hall or adjoining rooms.

We did not use the provided bus service. The restaurants and cafes in the lobby area were always crowded and had long waits so we passed on those.

Before reading the review I should let the readers know I was a hilton diamond member.

Checkin Process : The lady at the customer service was really nice and upgraded me to the Junior suite as I was Hilton Diamond member. They gave me coupons for water bottles as they had closed the executive lounge due to the holiday rush. Trust me any time I walked in they gave be 4 coupons for bottles of water that I could get it from the fridge in the room,
Transportation to the disney : Even in the peak christmas week , it took about half an hr to reach a park . Same thing in the return trip too. Lot of people in the thread complained about the wait time was annoying..but with a 2 yr old and 5 yrd old I felt it was really good for us . Didnt feel the pinch about wait times. It will certainly save you a cab ride/14$ a day parking fee at the disney parks.
Restaurants : All the restaurants are closeby and if you want to drive it is in a convenient location.
Executive Lounge : Since it was too crowded they decided to convert a ball room into breakfast room/executive lounge. I should say the quality of break fast was just fine no matter how many people were coming in-they did maintain the quality . The only drawback was it was only open during the break fast hours . Unlike the executive lounge where you could get a snack in the PM hours.

Lot of people also said the hotel is old..dont know what they really meant but based on the comments I read and walked into the hotel the feeling was different. It is not that old as some posts have indicated . So dont be fooled by the comments in other threads related to appearance and all that. It was relatively good. Since I have stayed in other places -I know whats worse like.

They had shuttles to all the WDW parks and the buses back to the Hotel were easy to find/ride. The amenities in the Hotel were great and the Extra Magic Hours were a little bonus round!

We stayed at the WDW Hilton for New Year's weekend 2010 and were sorely disappointed. We had reserved a "Deluxe Jr Suite" based upon the photos shown on their website and our need for more space in the room as we have 2 children who each sleep in a pack and play. We were charged their most expensive rate as this is a busy time of year for them. The room we were put in was very small with no extra space - just a loveseat couch that folds out (which we didn't need for sleeping room, obviously.) We politely requested a change to the king suite we had reserved, and were told that they were booked for the night but that they would move us to a king suite with a balcony overlooking Disney the next day.

The next day, at our own trouble, we packed our bags, carried all of the suitcases down, "checked out", checked the bags into baggage storage, and went to Disneyworld. It would have been very nice if they had offered to transfer the suitcases to the new room for us, but they did not. In fact, they would not even allow my husband to borrow the luggage cart to move our luggage again to the lobby. We stayed at Disney an extra long time for our toddlers to allow them to switch the room since we had wasted so much time in the morning having to "check out" of the first room. When we returned at 2:30 (normal check in is at 3), the room was not ready. Our children were wrecks at this point. At 3pm, they checked us into a king suite but not the one that was promised. There were no pack and plays delivered to the room. 40 minutes later and 2 calls later, they delivered the pack and plays. No apologies or offers to comp throughout this. We spent a good deal of our vacation with unhappy children in the lobby who badly needed a nap...despite having made specific reservations far in advance. No manager stepped in to try to address the problems. The 2nd room was far larger, confirming our suspicions that we were not in a "deluxe" suite to start with.

The hotel itself is older, dark, and dated. The pool area is not fancy. The hot tub looks nicer. It is about a $25 cab ride each way. The hotel offers a bus but we didn't try it due to spending so much time dealing with the room situation and not wanting to waste more time. Restaurant options in lobby area are nice if you are tired and traveling with small children.

This hotel is comparable to a two star hotel in terms of service/decor, but don't pay more.

My husband and I stayed for three nights the weekend before Christmas. We picked this hotel because we accumulate points with the Hilton chain. I found a price on the Hilton website for only $79 so it seemed like the logical choice for us.
This hotel is within walking distance of Downtown Disney. The shuttle service runs about every half and hour to the other parks. We took the buses out to the parks from the hotel in the morning. On the way back we sometimes got frustrated by the wait and returned via taxi (about $12 from Epcot).
Upon checkin there were no more king rooms available so they upgraded us to the Jr. Suite. I didn't like the proximity to the elevator so we were given another choice. I thought that the front desk handled our requests very well and was happy with the final results.
My husband and I do not have any children at the moment, but I would definitely stay here again with or without kids.

We just stayed at the Hilton for 4 nights on a family vacation. We had a great time. Have been to Disney and stayed at other hotels both within and outside of park. The hotel itself is not spectacular by any means. However, it is a good value compared to many other choices. The bus service is adequate - we waited some but the buses generally go anywhere you want to go twice an hour. If you want to save some money, it is a reasonable choice. We will probably go to a Disney resort next time. Another good choice and value is the swan and dolphin. Happy travels!
