“The Best Resort At Downtown Disney!”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

I just spent my Christmas holiday here with my boyfriend. As Florida residents of the Tampa Bay area, we have spent numerous trips to Orlando/Disney and tried several resorts, but we always come back to the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista at Downtown Disney. It is absolutely our favorite for many reasons. As Disney passholders we have tried several of Disney's own resorts, we love them too and they are great when you need that full "Disney" experience with all the bells & whistles. But the Hilton in their own special way can top Disney as well. 1st, location, location, location...you just can't beat it. It's awesome to be able to come down the elevator, walk out the side door, cross the crosswalk, & BAM--Downtown Disney!! This Hilton is the only other resort besides the Swan/Dolphin & the official Disney resorts that gives you access to Disney's Extra Magic Hours. Very cool for us being we are passholders. When we have stayed on their business floor, we've had access to their quaint inclusive breakfast area. Can you say Awesomeness? Every check-in & check-out has been seamless & smooth, never a problem. Every staff member has been warm & welcoming. The rooms are flawlessly clean. If we have ever needed extra toiletries, they have been brought up immediately with a smile. They offer dvd rentals similar to Redbox, what a great idea! The cable channels are definitely better here than at a Disney resort. Disney's cable channels are limited and they have about 20 Disney channels...seriously?! It lets me know they want you in the parks and not resting or unwinding in your room, unlike the Hilton. The Hilton offers very good restaurants to dine and a cozy lounge & fun poolside bar. I love their tucked away hot tubs, very tropical. I try to relax there whenever possible. I can't say enough about them...I have referred this particular hotel to ALL my friends for the past 4 years, when we first stumbled across this gem. As far as I'm concerned, it's home when we are in Orlando. I could never say this if I haven't tried the other places. Thank you Hilton Orlando at Lake Buena Vista for all that you do.

Room Tip: If you need a quiet floor, book on the "Business" floors. As these rooms are promoted to b...

Had a nice stay at Hilton Downtown Disney. Hotel is big. Self Parking is 13.00 per night. The free transportation to the Disney parks was Outstanding. Depart Hotel every 30 minutes, departure from the parks every 30 minutes. We have stayed at Disney resorts several times. Hilton transportation is 100% better. No long lines. If you are going to MK or Epcot, the shuttle drops you off at the Disney Ticket/Transportation center, you take the monorail to the parks. AK and HS bus lot pick up. You can walk to Downtown Disney, or take the shuttle that starts at 6pm, again every 30 minutes. Hotel charges a resort fee of $22.00. Included in the resort fee- 2 free bottles of water, 2 free Starbucks coffee, served in the hotels 24 hour Market. (The 2 free may be per adult)Park Transportation and Free unlimited DVD rentals from a self Kiosk like red box. The only down fall we found, if you take advantage of the extra magic evening hours, and don't stop to eat in the park, when you arrive back to the hotel after 11, the only place to eat is the Market. Menu very limited, very. very, limited. Pepperoni Pizza a little bit bigger than a personal pizza was $12.00, sub sandwiches, $9.00, salads $8.00. You also have the option to purchase cereal for $4.00 a container. So the only downfall we found was late night eating. Room clean, comfortable. Nice Arcade, and Pool. Front desk guy that checked us in was wonderful. Oh yes Housekeeping did knock on our door twice starting at 8:47am on our check out day. Pet Peeve I have with hotels- Housekeeping knocking on the door on the day of your check out. You know you have to check out, do they really have to remind you 2 hours prior to check out time?????? Twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think Hilton owes us a late check out for any future visits :)

I have stayed at this hotel several times and the service is always great. The rooms are clean and the pool areas are well maintained. You can't beat the location. It's great to be able to walk right across the street to Downtown Disney and not have to fight with driving and parking. The only complaint that I have is that you have to pay for parking at the hotel which should be included in your stay since you are already paying a Disney resort charge. I have stayed in several Disney hotels and the parking has always been free.

Room Tip: I was not able to see DD from my window but there are many rooms that have this view. You'll ne...

If you plan on going to down town Disney - stay here. It is just right across the street. The shuttle to Disney and from Disney is easy to understand, safe and does drop off and pick up close to both locations, but do understand the bus does stop off and four other hotels before heading to Disney park and stops at four hotels before stopping off at night at this hotel. It does add 20 to 30 minutes to your drive. It free and easy but does take time. You do get into the park before other off site hotels. You simply show your hotel room card to the entry gate at Disney and you by pass the lines of people waiting. You basically get in one hour before the other off site hotels. This is a nice bonus. It you can get a good rate at this hotel, I would recommend it. If you are staying longer than two nights, you might want to stay at a Disney property.

The Hilton Hotel in Lake Buena Vista is a short hop to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island. My wife and I were very pleased to discover that the hotel which we had stayed 25 years earlier was every bit as godd as the first time. They really kept up with the times. Our room was great and the staff warm and friendly. I highly reccomend this hotel.

Room Tip: You really can't go wrong whatever room you stay in. They are all very clan and well maintained.

We go to Orlando about twice a year. The whole key to keeping it affordable, coming from NYC, is staying by Disney as opposed to staying on the Disney property.

For the past 5 or so years, we've stayed at the Wyndham, right across the street from the Hilton. The Wyndham has definitely gone downhill over the past 5 years, little by little, but our stay there in June was the last straw (see my review),

So being in the market for new location, we opted for the Hilton, which is just across the road from Downtown Disney, and was very reasonably priced.

The difference between the two hotels is striking. The entrance to the Hilton is very nice. You pull in, the valets are helpful, and move you right along. The front desk is right inside the main part of the lobby when you walk in, etc. We were in our room unpacking within 15 minutes of arrival.

The rooms are also very nice. Our room also had two sinks, one outside the bathroom, with a mirror, and the other inside the bathroom (it comes in handy if you are a guy travelling with your wife and two daughters).

The hotel itself is very well maintained. We went to the pool the first night, and found two large pools, one was definitely heated, and one probably not. There were also two hot tubs, which were family friendly. The only downside is the pool bar closes at 5 (???) so if you want a drink or two, you have to get it at a lobby bar and bring it out. A little annoying, but no big deal. This may be due to the season however, since December to February is usually a little cool to use a pool in Orlando, but we got lucky with a bunch of days in the 80s.

There are two restaurants, one is a Benihana, which I assume is like any other Benihana, which is to say it is okay, and a very nice Italian restaurant, which we did eat at. The service was very friendly, the food was top notch (we live by NYC and eat at Italian places all the time), and the kids ate for free, which is always a bonus.

There is also a little delicatessen-type place, for coffee, pizzas, bagels, croissants, baguette sandwiches etc. It too is excellent, but is a bit pricey. Somehow whatever I ordered came to about $20, even if it was a couple of coffees, bagels, and a muffin.

The people are also very pleasant. The housekeepers went about their business without a problem irrespective of when we left the room or returned.

The only negatives, which I see other people mention in their reviews, are the "add-ons" Valet parking is $20 per night, plus a tip of course whenever you get your car. Self-parking is not much cheaper at $13 per night. Additionally, there is the usual resort fee, which is about $25 (or $23?) per night. So even if you self-park, you are paying almost $40 per night over and above your room rate. Given that we got our whole package of 5 nights plus airfare from NYC for $1,200 total for 4 people (excluding Disney tickets of course), an extra $200 in resort fees is a bit steep, on a percentage basis. Almost like paying for a 5th person for the trip, but in parking and resort fees.

In the Hilton's defense, however, resort fees seem to be the latest "gotcha" from hotels, and the pools are very nice and the fitness room looked pretty well stocked with the latest equipment.

We will definitely be staying there on our future trips to Orlando, even with the somewhat egregious resort and parking fees.

Room Tip: Something facing Disney

Liked that this hotel was within walking distance to Downtown Disney. Also offered free shuttles every 30 minutes to the Diney Parks leaving from the back of the hotel. Parking was a bit pricey, hotel guests should get free parking in my opinion. Breakfast was very expensive but the buffet was pretty good. Rooms were comfortable and clean. would stay here again!
