“Relaxing, Nice, Convenient, Friendly and Helpful Staff”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

I attended a conference located in this hotel. Their conference room rates were extremely reasonable. It bills itself as a resort hotel and to an extent it is. But if I were rating it solely on the basis of a resort I would probably give it 3 star. All in all this is a great place for mixed use. It is right next to (walking distance) to Downtown Disney. My room (1 King size bed) was very spacious and includes a refrigerator and coffee pot. But even better than a coffee pot is the 24 hour store which serves Starbucks coffee. I am an early riser and this was a God send. The pool is nice and the workout facility is more than adequate. The conference facility was very nice and conducive to good meetings and socializing. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

I traveled to Orlando for a conference and some Disney fun. The actual conference facility was sold-out, so I stayed at the Hilton Orlando LBV instead as I got a great deal on hotels.com. It was a pretty standard hotel, so it’s difficult to give you a good overall opinion. Instead, I have listed my pros/cons list to help you make your own decision! Also, see below for some tips and tricks that should help you out if you stay here.

CONS
1) Knowledge gaps – Unfortunately, very few of the Hilton staff were able to adequately answer questions that, in my humble opinion, should be standard in the service industry near WDW. I would much prefer to hear a simple “I don’t know”, but rather staff would make up what they thought the best answer was (and this was usually incorrect). Examples of these questions included driving time to the airport, the existence of a bus schedule to the Disney parks… Yes, this includes concierge.

2) Resort Fee – I’d much rather have the extra $22/day included as a part of the overall fee, rather than as an extra lump sum.

3) Customer service – I’m a fairly educated professional from Canada, but was extremely unimpressed when an affiliate of the hotel asked me “do you speak English?!” with anger after I asked him for confirmation of something he had announced in a heavy “South” accent. People from all over the world descend on WDW, and I’m sure a fair proportion don’t speak English as their first language, so you would think comments like that would be kept in check.

Pros
1) Drink vouchers – 2 free bottles of water or 2 cups of coffee per day. Of course, this is a part of the resort fee…

2) Town cars – I was initially going to list this as a con, but after taking a taxi a couple of times, I quickly reverted to the town car. Why? They’re on site. They’re the same price as a cab. They have fixed prices. They’re roomy and comfortable!

3) Pools – 2 large pools with plenty of deck chairs, 2 hot tubs, and a kids pool. Plenty of pool towels on deck. Can’t go wrong!

4) Disney store – It was very convenient to have a Disney store on site. That meant not having to lug around souvenirs in the rain, being able to purchase tickets without long lines, and information galore (that the Hotel generally failed with).

5) Hotel shuttle service – The Hilton is the first pick up point for service to the theme parks and waterparks. There are 3 other hotel stops en route to the theme parks, and 6 others on the way to the waterparks. This also means you’re the first hotel to be dropped back at the end of the day. While this free service is generally good, all buses stop at 2 parks, so it can be a lengthy trip if you’re going to the second park on the list.

Tips & Tricks
1) The Hilton is not an official WDW resort, but does qualify for a few of the WDW perks. Check with the hotel (or the golf course/theme park/etc) to confirm.
2) Extra magic hours apply to the Hilton (Magic Kingdom is open until 1am on Monday night! But Splash Mountain isn’t…)
3) The hotel shuttles to the Magic Kingdom/Animal Kingdom, and Epcot/Disney’s Hollywood Studios leave the Hotel promptly at :00 and :30.
4) The hotel shuttles return from those parks at :25 and :55 (and extra late on magic hour nights).
5) There are also hotel shuttles to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. They leave the hotel at 8:15am and 9:15am.
6) If you want to leave the waterparks early, you can take a Disney bus to any Disney hotel, and then take a Downtown Disney (DD) bus from that hotel to DD, and cross the street to return to the hotel. From Blizzard Beach take the Disney shuttle to All-Star Sports, then the DD bus. From Typhoon Lagoon, go to Saratoga Springs to catch the DD bus.
7) If you want to go somewhere else, the DD bus station is literally across the street from the Hilton (if you leave the hotel via the doors by the elevator that pass by the pool). You can get to any other resort from there, or return from any other resort to there.
8) Use the Mears transport back to the airport if there are one or two of you. It’s $21 per person, and reliable.
9) There’s an Avis Car Rental desk on site. $55/day for a compact (not including insurance).

I hope this helps! Keep fit and have fun! ☺

Thank you for sharing such a detailed review and we appreciate your compliments as well as your constructive feedback. It's nice to know you enjoyed our outdoor pools and lounge area as well as our shuttle services. I was sorry to hear about the disappointing service you received , I will certainly be following up on this as it is not typical or indicative of our staff. If you have any additional comments or concerns to share, please let us know.

Kind regards,
James Grosso

Stayed here four days, three nights. The hotel is located directly across from Downtown Disney in the Downtown Disney district. The hotel offers free transportation included in your stay or resort fee that you pay extra. The transportation runs every 30 minutes or so and is usually on time. The bus drop off at each of the parks is NOT the same place that Disney Resort Hotel gets dropped at. The drop off is usually further away especially at Magic Kingdom...but your bus is not going to be filled with uncontrollable screaming kids. The bus does stop at three other hotels on the way to the parks. If you get smart, you will only take a bus to and from the park at the beginning and end of the day while taking the Disney buses/monorail from park to park. We started off one day at Hollywood Studios, took the Disney bus there to Epcot, then took the monorail to the Magic Kingdom returning to hotel via hotel bus at Magic Kingdom. If you do not have a lot of time, this is a good way to do it.

Back to the hotel, they offer free computer and printing services, free wifi included in your resort fee, and two vouchers each day for a free starbucks coffee or bottled water. The 24 hour open food area offered decent choices for a quick breakfast or late night snack. I did not eat at any other food places as can not offer feedback.

The rooms were clean and comfortable but I can see some of the dated comments that other reviewers have left. I am all for clean, quiet, and relaxing when traveling to Orlando and this hotel offered all three.

I would consider staying here again next time going to Orlando as nice to be close to Disney but able to get away from the screaming kids and out of control parents with strollers.

I attended a conference here and enjoyed a peaceful room with a nice view. Asked for a high floor, away from an elevator, with a lagoon view and got that for no extra charge. I did tip the front desk fellow, because he was so nice. Pools were great and common areas clean and welcoming. The room carpet could use replacing, but the in room fridge was useful. I like that the hotel did not feel like it is a part of the Tragic Kingdom. Downtown Disney is right across the street if you must.

Overall, the experience of staying at Hilton is not too bad. The room is spacious, clean and the bed is comfortable. Receptionists are friendly and helpful. There was Wifi in our room since the cost of it has already been included in the 'Resort Fee'. Speaking of which, I thought the resort fee was kind of redundant as we were hardly in the room at all. There are free disney shuttles to the disney parks every 30mins interval. And I realized there is no signage of where the stop is for the disney shuttles (or perhaps I missed it). Anyway the stop is towards the end of the hotel, near the lifts, where you have to walk out of the only exit there. Once out, you will see a couple of benches and a car park and apparently that area is where the shuttle stop is. My gut feeling told me that that is the stop, but I still feel that it would be better if there is signage to indicate that that's the shuttle stop.

Downtown Disney is just about 5 minutes walk from the hotel, so meals can be settled easily and shopping for Disney merchandises is a breeze since all shops with Disney stuffs are situated in one big area.

Airport shuttle services are provided by Mears and do proceed to the counter (near the computers) to make your shuttle booking at least 5 hours in advance before your flight (as requested by them). Shopping wise, there's a shuttle bus that takes you to the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores I think but I'm not too sure where the stop is.

I stayed at the Hilton for a conference in April 2013. I really enjoyed my stay. The room was spotless. Things were easy to find. I loved being able to walk to Downtown Disney. There were several choices for eating inside the hotel. Buses picked up in the back for Downtown Disney. I also took a shuttle to Universal Studios. I liked the Disney store in the hotel for last minute souvenirs. The elevators were super fast. I was on the top floor so that was convenient. The pool areas were beautiful and never crowded. The only thing I wish would have been different was the cleaning time of my room. They did not clean until late afternoon/evening on the 9th floor. There were good movies playing on cable. There was a store with starbucks coffee drinks.

Room Tip: I didn't think about requesting a floor and ended up being on the 9th, top floor which was fine...

I have stayed at Disney many times with my family - this was the first time on my own and at this hotel. The hotel is situated close (within walking distance) to Down Town Disney. The rooms are very good and clean. There is a choice of restaurants but with downtown Disney so close there are plenty of restaurants close by. The swimming pool is nice but not as big as those the other disney hotels. I would recommend for adults looking go stay at Disney and possibly families with older children. There is a Disney bus from the hotel to the parks. The reception team were also very helpful - overall a very nice stay.
