We stayed at this resort New Year's Eve and the first week of January 2012. Our unit, in building 23, Augustine section, was very clean and comfortable. There were plenty of dishes and amenities. Everything was as advertised and expected. We found our building and villa to be modern, and upscale. It was fully tiled, perfect for people who dislike carpets due to allergies. Our only complaint was the sofa bed. The bed portion is useless. While it may be reasonably new, it is very uncomfortable for an adult to sleep on. It might be acceptable for a smaller child, but then you wouldn't leave a child to sleep alone in the living room by the front door.

The resort itself was beautiful, lots of flowers and tropical plants. It was well maintained and manicured, with perfect backdrops for photos. There were pools for kids, with waterslides, and pirate ships, pools with a gradual slope at the entry point, perfect for toddlers or seniors. There were pools for activities, and a quiet pool for those who want to relax without noise. There were games rooms, both indoor and outdoor. There were quiet relaxing swings and hammocks, some overlooking watefalls. You could have lots of fun and excitement or a peaceful relaxing vacation. There was something for everyone. There's a computer and printer for checking in online with your airline, and printing boarding passes.

The location is excellent for those with a car, who plan to visit the theme parks, outlet malls, or Mary of the Universe Shrine. Everything is within a close drive. For those without a car, there is a convenient trolley that is located just outside the property gate (not a long walk). It can drive people to a variety of locations nearby. We also heard there is a shuttle to theme parks, provided for free twice per day, but we did not use it, nor meet anyone who did.

The staff at the resort was professional. Everyone was pleasant and accomodating, from the front desk, to the housekeeping staff, the towel attendants, and shop clerks. Everyone was smiling and happy to help guests. We were offered $100 to attend a timeshare presentation, when we checked in. We declined, and no one bothered us about it again. Everyone here appeared to be having a good time. There were mainly families, from Canada, the U.K., and South America (Brazil, Columbia).

While most of the people who we met were there mainly to sleep, and to travel to theme parks during the day, there was an activities calendar provided for the week, with a lot of things for kids and teens to do. You could stay at the resort all day, and still have a lot to do.

Room Tip: We heard that the Augustine section is newer and nicer. This is where we stayed, and we were impres...

We booked a suite for a party of four. Both rooms were clean and the decoration was quite good. The hotel staff was helpful. The location is good but not great - you can find similar resorts closer to main attractions.
The 10 o clock check out was a real problem for us. We had a late flight and the front desk associates made no exceptions. We will not go back.

Went on a girls weekend getaway by invitation of a friend who owns a timeshare at this resort.
Being a timeshare owner myself, I was very curious to see how Vistana Villages "compared" with where I own. I was very impressed. We were in building 7, a recently renovated two bedroom, two bathroom room with a view of the little pond and pool area, if I remember correctly it was the Augustine area or the Bella, forgive my lack of memory. The room was beautifully decorated, immaculate and well stocked. All the dishes were spotless and all sets of glasses, dishes, flatware complete. There is a large "closet" with a washer and dryer, iron, ironing board. The beds were extremely comfortable, as was the couch and chairs in the living room. I also liked the full size dining room table with 6 chairs. We were on the 4th floor with a screened in balcony.

The resort has a beautiful large pool complex just outside of the main area (lobby, restaurant, activities center for the kids area) with zero entry for the little ones or physically challenged guests. There were cabana's around the pool area, as well as a massage cabana, pool side. There was a quiet pool and hot tub a few steps from the main pool. The main pool had a fountain area in the shallow end for the kids to play around. As well as a lovely playground for the kids. I'm sure I'm leaving some details out, going by memory here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good and very reasonably priced. While this was an adult, all girls getaway trip, I can see how wonderful a resort this is for families. There was a work out room overlooking the grounds near the pool and main area as well. The resort activities listed in the welcome packet seemed quite complete, offering things for children and adults.
There are palm trees throughout the resort, specifically around the pool area, and I really enjoyed waking up and sitting on the balcony with my coffee, with a view of this area and the pretty green palm trees swaying in the breeze. This resort is close to Universal and very close to Seaworld. It's also about 12 - 18 minutes to Disney World, depending on where in Disney one is headed.

While I was very happy with the second bedroom and especially with the comfort of the bed, I didn't like that the second bedroom only has double beds, opposed to queens, and one bed is right up against the outside wall, under the window, the room was a little on the small side. I couldn't comfortably leave my window shades open, as the window is directly on the outdoor "hallway" where anyone walking by is literally right outside the pane of glass, I felt with the curtains open I didn't have much privacy. Also, while the balcony off the living room was wonderful, with a ceiling fan and light and with a table and four chairs, it is the only balcony and with access only from the living room, not the master bedroom, and of course there could be no balcony off the second bedroom, as stated, the window is on the common outdoor hallway.

I'm not in any way complaining, these are just the only "shortcomings" I can comment on, if one can consider these shortcomings at all.

Overall I highly recommend this resort for family trips, friend trips, couples trips, and I look forward to the day where my friends and I are again lucky enough to be invited back.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the pool area, it's lovely.

Stayed for one week over NYE and had a great time. The rooms were very nice - ask for the St. Augustine section as it's the most recently built and more luxurious than the older villas.

Front desk was helpful - although we had problems with the check in time. They promised a 4PM check in at the latest and it wasn't met. I had to argue a fair bit with management about this.

Pool area was nice and they had a very nice NYE party at the pool.

Quick access to both Sea World and Disney...can't beat the location!

Just came back from Sheraton vistana villages. Resort is only minutes from sea world, shopping, Disney, and near major roads. Very clean, modern facility, and pools are heated! On the disappointing side, onsite restaurant has limited options, wifi is weak, and the timeshare presentation is long (2hrs +). My 8 & 5yr olds loved the pools.

P.s. I highly recommend a day trip to Clearwater beach and aquarium (only 1.5hrs) and to visit Legoland in Winter Haven (45mins away). Not nearly as many lineups or crowds as Disney.

We are frequent visitors to Orlando, Florida and have watched the area develop over the past 25 years or so, in some areas at a startling pace and none more so than the south end of International Drive. Once past the Peabody Hotel and Convention Centre you are literally in another town where the streets are immaculate and the greenery manicured and watered to perfection.

The whole area takes on a classier appearance as a variety of condos and resort accommodation appear to pop up on either side of the road, continue on a little further towards Vineland and the Starwood Vistana Villages Resort appears on your left as a shining example of how resorts should present themselves.

The establishment is warm and welcoming and extremely well laid out albeit over a large area and in a variety of well designed village style environments. We were lucky enough to be accommodated in the relatively new Key West villa block in which we had a two bedroom suite that was in every sense of the word well kitted out.

The décor was warm and welcoming in that fairly typical Florida style but thank goodness there were no Parrots or Pineapples to be seen anywhere, just reasonably tasteful soft furnishings and pastel colours all presented in pristine condition. Our apartment overlooked the pool that offered user friendly opening times from 07.00 until 23.00 and fairly comfortable sun beds and spotless towels.

The grounds are fabulous for wondering and there are ample tracks for a good walk or jog plus very well equipped Gyms and shower facilities, add to this some great tennis courts and you could be more than satisfied never to wonder outside of the well manned security gates.

This resort looks out for the family in every way and for those looking for a self catering break that is supremely located close to all of the major attractions and restaurants you really can’t go wrong.

Make no mistake though it is no 5 star resort but it does what it says on the box and offers great VFM and is well deserving of its 3 star+ status.

Starwood have a tough battle competing in this part of the world that is pretty much dominated by Marriott but they do fine job and we will be going back.
