Disney's Pop Century Resort
Ranked #135 of 340 Hotels in Orlando
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Although Pop Century is one of the cheapest resorts on the Disneyland complex, its the place to be. 5 star+ service on the cheap. Everything laid on for you, Room Maid Service was Excellent, Food is Great, a Top Notch Bus Service to Every Theme Park. etc. You couldn't ask for more.. I would recommend this place to everyone, young or old....

For the price we paid to stay here we expected much more. I'll break it down into pros and cons:

PROS:
-convenient if you don't have a car because there are buses that leave the resort every 5 mins to take you to any Disney attraction
-there is a pool that is a nice refreshing way to end your hot and tiring day
-there is a shuttle that you take from the airport and back
-you can check in for your departing flight for some airlines in the hotel
-tv is nice and big

CONS:
-they have disabled all the refrigerators in all the rooms because they have some lame excuse that they are not working properly... [--]!
-the pool never closes so there are kids playing and making noise even at 1 am!
-don't expect this place to look like a hotel... It looks like your typical motel
-rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are dated. Out room is in the 60s building... The bathroom looks like its straight from the 60s too!
-they don't replenish toiletries unless you request for them
-toiletries given are limited to two tiny bars of soap and a tiny bottle of shampoo. Bring a complete set because you won't be able to buy anything around the area
-you can hear everything that goes on next door including the toilets flushing!

My family has stayed at this hotel 4 or more times... If left up to my kids, we wouldn't ever stay anywhere else! I would love to stay at one of the Deluxe hotels one day... We've tried one or two of the Moderate... Those were nice, but we missed our Pop Century...
Here is what we love about this hotel:
It is HUGE --- there are three pools, a spacious gift shop, a large food court area with lots of choices, a great laundry facility (or two?) and more.
The décor is great, very kid friendly... Each building is a different color scheme / decade. There are four story high, colorful statues by each building: Baloo & Mowgli, Lady & the Tramp, a Mickey telephone, a can of Play-doh... The stair wells are even cool --- they are housed inside of giant yo-yo's, bowling pins, 8 track tapes... And if that weren't enough, there are miles of sidewalk weaving through and around the building with smaller statues, activity areas, play-scapes and fun things all the way around the property. *On one of our earlier trips, one of my girls woke up super early one morning (new tooth coming in and causing her discomfort), and so we went for a walk - she loved seeing all of the fun characters and checking the whole place out, she bragged about her special walk to her brother and sister for the rest of the day :)
The staff is great... I wouldn't expect anything less than the best from Disney employees, and they deliver... We love the washrag dolls the house keeping staff leaves for us to find... We are grateful that they come whenever we call for extra towels or new sheets... We love that they let us decorate our window (if you stay, bring some window clings, small Disney stuffed animals, tinsel or something - this is kind of a thing to do at this hotel)... The front desk staff can answer any question, get you anywhere you want to go and book any experience you might like to try... The buses, which load right outside of the food court - are great! It's so nice to leave the driving to them!! *If you have small children, arrange for a wake up call in the morning, and let your kids answer --- it might be Mickey, Stitch, Donald or some other fun character that calls your room ;)
For the price (again, this is a Disney Value Resort -- prices range from $79 - $149 a night depending on season / deal), this is a great place to stay. The rooms are on the small side, but we've always been able to make due. I know one day soon we'll either have to move to another hotel (for a family suite) OR just book 2 rooms for the length of our stay, but for now, while our kids are smaller and while we still can - when we go to WDWorld, you can bet we'll be staying at the POP CENTURY!

Great place to stay for the price. The room was clean and comfortable. It was just a short trip on the bus to get to the parks. The food court was also open late and very conveniently located. I would definitely stay her again.

I have stayed at this hotel twice and both times was pleasantly surprised with the service, staff and overall value for the money at this hotel. Great pools, rooms were good. Very clean. Staff was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

I live here in Central Florida, but brought my fiance to Disney, and thought we'd stay on property so it would be easy to get around. We would have liked to stay at a deluxe hotel, but it wasn't in our budget this go around... so Pop Century it was!
We purchased the Dining Package, with the tickets, etc. The hotel check in was easy and quick! All of the cast members were very friendly and helpful, making dinner reservations for us and everything. We requested a third floor, to be away from pool noise, etc, and were accommodated.
The room was a great size for just the two of us, but a family of four would find it spacious as well. Our room was always kept in great shape by our awesome room steward!
The hotel and grounds are clean and well kept. There were always cast members around keeping up with maintenance. The dining area (cafeteria) was also well maintained and clean. The food is really good, and they have many vegetarian/vegan options available for those with dietary restrictions. Parking was well lit, and it was easy to get in and out of the property.
We don't have children, but it was still adult friendly with a bar close to the dining hall ;)
This was my third time staying at Pop Century and I was once again, very happy with my stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors get less noise from children playing at the pool... Always request one of the rooms cl...

We stayed 6 nights recently with our 2 kids, 7 and 12. When we checked in we asked the young lady at registration desk for a nice, convenient room she gave us a 3rd floor room on a corner overlooking trees and grassy area--it was a 60's bldg.--Yo-Yo's on the end. It was around the corner from the main (Hippy Dippy Pool) so it was quiet. It was very close to the main bldg. (lobby, gift store, and food court) also if you walk straight through that bldg. you are at the bus shuttle stops. The exterior of the bldgs. are brightly colored and have images of the decades 50-60-70-80-90s and also contain huge symbols (Yo-Yo, Rubic cube, cell phone etc) at each end of the bldgs. Our kids didn't know what a lot of the items were like the 8 track tape and the Walkman radio!!! The shuttle service was excellent. We were usually at the stop around 7:20 or 7:30 a.m. and usually only had to wait 5-12 minutes or so. It is nice because the Pop Century shuttles do not stop anywhere else, they take you directly to the parks (but as a tradeoff, at the parks, Pop Century is always the furthest away). Magic Kingdom seemed about 20+ minutes away, Epcot, Hollywood, Animal Kingdom, and DTW were very quick rides of 10-12 minutes. The food court area has 3 or 4 stations. The offerings are chix. sandwich, chicken w/pasta, chix. nuggets, French bread pizza, nachos etc. The food was not very good at all. On our last day before going to the airport my husband had nachos made with potato chips! We never ate breakfast there. They are open from 6a.m. til 12 midnight. The kids meals are the best deal. For $5.99 you get the main entrée plus 2 side items(choice of apple slices, carrot sticks, jello cup, grapes, or choc. pudding) and a drink. There is a grab-n-go section that we would buy things in to take with us or for breakfast the next day. (it seemed breakfast pastries were still out til around 2 p.m.) The rooms were fine, but small. The beds are only double beds. Cleaning service was good. 4 days my kids received wash cloth animals along with their own stuffed animals arranged on the beds. Pools were fun-themed, all with life guards. They watched weather and once closed the pool because of weather that was moving in (and then reopened later). In regards to the teens from Brazil, I think every resort probably had them esp. the value resorts. We learned they come in July in groves. They were there only the last 2 days of our stay (July 9-15).
