“Exactly what we needed!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

My husband and I stayed at Pop Century from September 15/12 - Sept 22/12. We requested a King bed away from the pools and that is exactly what we got. The room was clean & kept up everyday. The bed was not exactly comfortable but it was a place to put our heads down after LONG days. Everyone we encounted was so friendly, the staff were great.

We knew that we just needed an inexpensive place to sleep, as we didn't plan on spending much time at our resort. And it served its purpose exactly. We got the disney diney plan (I totally recomend it), had breakfast at the resort each morning and then headed out on the buses first thing. I will say that the bus trips on the way BACK from the parts were a little crazy. We had to wait 40 minutes some nights as the line ups for the buses were so long (usually from Magic Kingdom). But the buses ran quite often, every 10 minutes or less most of the time.

We had a wonderful stay & would go back to Pop again.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the pool if you dont have kids, the pools are open until midnight and the walls...

Just returned yesterday after staying at POP Century for 5 nights. I don't have one complaint about Pop Century! The staff was great, rooms clean, food was good, bus transportation was good, pool clean, etc..... We were in the 50's building which I found to be quite convenient to the food court and bus transportation. We have stayed there in the past and will definately stay there again!

After doing a lot of research on Disney "value" resorts; we eventually booked Pop Century and stayed there from 1st September 2012 for 14 days. Before leaving for our holiday some new reviews about room size & bad food had been written on here, which left me feeling a bit anxious about the hotel. However, upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised! ...it was immaculately clean, with plenty of people available to help with your luggage! (our suitcases were delivered to our room before we got there). Check-in was straight forward and the lady on the front desk was extremely nice & helpful. The hotel is huge, with 3 swimming pools and a splash zone (which shoots jets of water out of the floor - fun for little ones!). We mainly used the Hippy Dippy pool (which is lively playing music all day) and the quieter Bowling Pin pool - both were heated!!! :-) The computer pool was our least favourite and seemed cold compared to the other two.

Our room was situated in the 50's building and was nice (better than anticipated). Rooms are not massive, but definitely big enough for a family of 4. Inside the room were 2 double beds, which are comfy. We moved one of the beds against the wall (so my daughter wouldn't fall out) but bed rails were readily available on request. There was also a table & 2 chairs, a flat screen TV, a mini-fridge (big enough for a milk, water, wine, cakes, snacks etc), a hairdryer, iron, ironing board and even a pull out washing line to dry your clothes! Free air-con, which worked fine and a small safe. Towels were changed daily and cute little bottles of Mickey shampoo/conditioner & soap were renewed everyday... a lovely touch for a value range hotel. Housekeeping staff were lovely!

Just outside our room were huge figures from Lady & the Tramp, which my 2 children loved. We were on the 3rd floor and there was an option of using stairs or the lift. We were lazy bums and used the lift, hehe. The bowling pin pool was right outside too, which was open until very late and was fab! ...The Hippy Dippy pool was just a short walk away.

The 50's building is a short walk from the main building and bus stops (unlike the 90's buildings, which is quite a walk away). The bus service was fantastic. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus to any of the parks; and always got a seat! Pop Century's 1-stop bus service is second to none!!! (unlike some of the other hotels that share stops).

The hotels restaurant was nice; although I couldn't imagine eating there for 2 weeks straight as it's all fast food, with limited healthy options. You can however take a short walk to Disney's Art of Animation hotel (5 min accross the generation gap bridge) and use their restaurant, which offers a slightly different & better menu. The resort mugs, which can be purchased for $15 each can be used in both these resorts and is good value for money. We were constantly topping up with sprite, coke, fanta, hot chocolate and coffee throughout our stay!!!

The resort shop was good for last minute presents, but the shops at Downtown Disney had more variety. An average price for fridge magnet/keyring is $5.

Overall we had a wonderful stay at this hotel for the amount of time we spent there. As it's been said before; when visiting Disney, just how much time do you spend at your hotel? ...most of our time was spent park-hopping, but after a long eventful day Pop Century was a lovely place to come home and crash out! ...we would without hesitation stay at this hotel again if we returned to Disney! :-)

Room Tip: Rooms in the 50's block were close to the main reception area, food court and bus stops!

Being that my family usually stays in the Polynesian Resort, I was very hesitant to stay at the Pop Century on my most recent visit to Disney. My husband was insistant that since we spend such little time in the room when at Disney, that we could use the money we save on staying at Pop Century and do other things.

The room was simple, but clean. We happend to be in an excellent spot. Not a big walk to the busses but far enough away from the pool that we could still sleep. The walls are definitely thin and you can hear everything going on in the room next to you. I personally am just not a picky person. So the noise and the small room didn't bother me a bit.

MY ADVICE.
If you need lots of room, you feel cramped easily, loud noises bother you, or you don't like to walk extra THIS IS NOT THE RESORT FOR YOU. All the bus pick ups for Pop century wer the very last at every park. So lots and lots of walking is involved. The beds are not very comfortable. And although my room was always clean, my family stayed for one day and were very disappointed with theirs (even had cheez-its on the bathroom floor).

THIS IS THE RESORT FOR YOU if you don't mind any of the above, and want to save money on your Disney vacation. If you literally only use your room for sleep and showers and spend a lot of time at the parks, you should stay here. I would do it again, but can definitely see why the resort has mixed reactions.

Just got home from a week at WDW. This is our third stay at POP and again have nothing but great things to say about the entire stay. Our room was beautifully cleaned by Marcia every day with animals of some sort left each time. We had the dining plan (only way to go) got free mugs (really great) and enjoyed each breakfast that we ate there. We found plenty to choose from on the "menus". We always eat dinner in one of the Parks. The staff throughout the entire hotel from day 1 to day 7 were friendly & helpful, always smiling and greeting you. This is our 4th time going to WDW and our 3rd time at POP, & it will not be our last.

Room Tip: If you want some quiet stay in the 90's it's a little walk to the main building, but very pe...

We stayed here for our Honeymoon & my birthday. This is my 7th Walt Disney World Trip and my 3rd time staying on Property. This was our first time at Pop Century. First we requested a king size bed and paid for a preferred room. This was off season so we figured it wouldn't be an issue. We got there the day we got married. They couldn't find our folder at the front desk, then when they sent us to our room it had two double beds! I called the desk and they said the only request the had from us was for the 60's building, I never asked for that! They only had handicapped rooms with king size beds left. Our bed was too low (below my knees). We took a tray with food from the hotel food court to our room and it stayed there until they day before we left (4 days). One night I grabbed a wash cloth off the rack and there was a curly black hair sticking out of it! A few days later I open a clean towel from the rack only to find three long black hairs in it, no way it came from either one of us. Every day we walked to the main building we would see that everyone else's windows were decorated but not ours, not once while we were there. When we stayed at All Stars Movie Resort our window was decorated every day. I will never stay at this resort again!! Both All Stars and Port Orleans riverside are MUCH better. All stars was even cheaper than Pop Century!!

my husband and 2 friends were here for 5 days in feb 2012. we were very happy about getting connected rooms, even though we didnt ask for it, clean big rooms and its very nice outside with the pool, statues and trees. we really missed a fridge! surely disneyworld could afford some? :) since we came home so late we often ate at the restaurant in the hotel.. and the two things that makes me say something negative about the hotel, is the food and the lack of a fridge. other than that, its in the heart of disneyworld, with lots of color and no noise at all! its amazing how peacefull it is:) we enjoyed our stay!
