“Nice hotel, spotty wi-fi, but we'll stay again!”
Reviewed August 19, 2012 via mobile

My family really enjoyed our recent stay at Pop Century and will definitely be back. My kids loved the Hippy Dippy pool and the activites they could participate in. The game room was large, but was a little pricey. I thought the food court was reasonably priced. Best value ever is the large pizza - they will even let you do half pepperoni!! The bridge connecting to the Art of Animation hotel is really nice (and what a nice hotel that is!). Truly my only complaint is the the wi-fi in our room only worked some of the time. I could load one website and then it kicked me off and I had to start all over again. If they fix the connection problems, it will be great! When deciding whether or not to stay on property, consider that most off-property hotels charge a daily resort fee of around $10, plus (if using your own transportation) the daily Disney parking fee of $14 (free with your room key- a perk we didn't know about ahead of time), it really does pay to stay on property! Final suggestion - if you drive yourself there, ask if you can pull up to a luggage unloading area and have a cart to take your bags to your room. Some of the sections (70s) are far away from the parking areas. We found out the hard way!

We have stayed here a few times. It is our favourite 'non- DVC' Disney Hotel. The rooms are pretty standard, lovely and clean, everything you need- just not as homey as the could be. The grounds are awesome, massive great big statues of the characters, so colourful- you could spend ages photographing the hotel alone! The dining area is wonderful too- lots to choose from.

Room Tip: The 90's area was fun to stay in!

This is a value hotel, and in terms of the room itself, you get what you pay for at the Disney Pop Century. Our room was very small, but they managed to get two beds, a tv, dresser, small fridge and table with two chairs. I only wish it felt and looked cleaner, specially the carpet and the bed spread. The pools are great, and one ia open 24h. The cafeteria style restaurant is huge, and feels like the "student union" of many colleges campus. They bake their own flatbread and pizza, and you can find anything from cheesecake to fresh made hummus. As well as wine and beer. The service is great and we never had to wait in line.

This was our first time, not only in Florida, but at Disney. We had been planning it for a year, and couldn't wait.
This hotel was awesome. It was huge. We didn't have time to even see it all because we were so busy. The staff was all real nice, and knowledgeable. The room was clean. And the wifi was free.

This was our first stay at pop century and it will be our last! We were a party of 8, 6 adults and 2 children with one person with disabilities. We were celebrating a 4 year olds and a 40 year olds birthdays. Upon check in we did recieve our connecting rooms on the first floor, but that is where our luck ran out. Now, where should I start with the problems.....First, the chair was broken and was sat on when we were first checking into the room and in colapsed. We called the front desk and they said they would have someone come look at it. That never happened. Second, the refridgerator stopped working at some point during the day when we were in the park. This left everything in it unusable including medications. Again we called the front desk and it was at this point they sent someone for the chair and refridgerator. Never offering any compensation. The next evening we were awoke at 230 AM to the cover on the wall covering the air/heat unit crashing down. I got up, tried to put it back and returned to bed only to have it happen again a few hours later. At this point the room just got up. Again calling the desk. That day we spent at the pool for pizza and ice cream, the choice of the 4 year old for his birthday. Just to top off the day someone left a little "gift" in the pool, this was not the property's fault, but the unorganized way they handled it was. Next.. the maid service was not the best the whole trip but nothing that caused any real problems until one of us tried to use the bathroom after returning home and realized there were 4 squares of bathroom tissue left on the roll with no tissue paper around.... again we called the desk. On the night before our final night we where all settled in ready to relax when what do we see?? Roaches crawling up the wall!!! At this point I had had enough I called and asked to talk to someone, they told me there was noone there and I would have to wait until tomorrow but they would send the exterminator. I tried down at the desk before we were going to the park to try to enjoy our last day and the person I needed to talk to was not there yet. I left for the park expecting to find a call on our phone when we returned but there was nothing. Upon checkout I expressed my disappointment and how dissatisfied I was that nothing was done. The only reaction was they where "sorry to hear that". I'm sorry it wasn't handled better. With my daughter being an ex-travel agent we have stayed many times onsite from value to deluxe and this is the first time with such horrible service, but it has left me very unwilling to have another vacation ruined.

This is one of the lower priced resorts and the differences between it and the moderate priced ones are apparent. However it was an excellent value.

The room and grounds were spotless. Staff was friendly and helpful. The food court was reasonably priced given that it's a resort. Prices were much higher than comparable food elsewhere but not so high as to be an issue. Also, the food is good. It's not crappy theme park food. If you're making the right selections, it can be healthy and quite tasty. The main pool area got crowded at times but since it's huge there's really plenty of room. We never had an issue finding chairs or a table when we wanted one. The ventilation system worked superbly and was so quiet it was impossible to tell when it was on or off.

The resort is so large that parking may be somewhat of a hike from the room. The in room safe is a good idea but using keys instead of an electronic lock is not. It was a hassle to carry around such a large key and fob all day. Likewise, the in room refrigerator is a good idea but even when on the coldest setting it only did a marginal job; it lacks a freezer compartment.

It was surprising that towels were not provided at the pool. You have to bring the ones from your room to the pool and then either bring them back full of chlorine or drop them in the towel bin at the pool but if you do that, then you don't have them to use in the room until after cleaning the next day.

The towels were adequate but only just so. I bet they start with brand new towels at their more expensive resorts and as they lose their fluffiness move them down the ladder. By the time they got to this resort they were not quite threadbare but fairly thin.

The free wifi was the only real disappointment but it was huge. The computer registered an excellent connection but could not access the internet except occasionally and then for only a moment or two at a time. I found out inadvertently that it worked perfectly at 4:00 am so it looks like a case of inadequate capacity. Frankly, I would rather pay and know it would work than get it for free but be unable to use it. This problem persisted throughout a 6D5N day stay and was frustrating.

Despite the minor issues discussed, this is a great resort hotel and was a fun experience.

We stayed at the pop century hotel June 1-8 while vacationing at WDW. We were a bit nervous as we were with 13 people total, which included my 80 year old grandma. In the past we have always stayed in moderate resorts and were worried the pop century may be a bit too large of a complex for my grandma to navigate.
Turns out the resort exceeded any expectation. We stayed in the 90s building. Everyone talks about how small the rooms are....we felt they were perfect sized. Who goes on vacation and sits in the hotel anyway? Decor was fun. The kids loved the pools, even without a waterslide.
Food court was a typical food court. Has everything you may need,
