Disney's Pop Century Resort
Ranked #135 of 340 Hotels in Orlando
Reviewed May 14, 2012

As big Disney fans, we prefer to stay at a Disney Resort when visiting Walt Disney World in Florida, or Disneyland in California. Disney is known for its exceptional customer service, and its no different when staying at one of their value resorts.

We typically stay at their high end "Home Away From Home" resorts with the family, but as an adults only trip (just my wife & I), we were looking to spend more time at Disney's dining locations and decided to save some money on the resort side. We chose Disney's Pop Century and we were not disapointed. The resort may not have many of the ammenities which you expect from a high end resort, but you are NOT paying $400 per night either.

Our room was small but clean and comfortable. Free Wifi is included which is a recent addition to Disney resorts. Even though it was not in the room descriprion, a mini refrigerator was built into the dresser unit in our room, which was a bonus. Resort bus service to parks and Downtown Disnew was frequent and well organized. There are 3 pools and a childrens wet play area as well as a pool side bar. The pool areas are whimsical with huge icons from different decades of the 1900's like a huge computer, juke box, Lady & the ramp, etc.

One of my favorite parts (as crazy as you may think it is) is in the check in area, there is a long wall with displays of items from each decade such as 8-track tapes, Saturday Night Fever record, Michael Jackson Glove, Old tv's, radios and cameras, items from the 50's - 90's. When you find a display from your childhood or teen years, you will spend time laughing and reminiscing. Awesome job Disney!!

And lastly, there is a nice large gift show and a well rounded food court with a large selection. As a value resort, there is no table service restautrant at this hotel, but you're a quick ride to EPCOT (or any other Disney park or deluxe resort) where you can experience dome of the best dining you can imagine; which we did!

I highly reccommend this resort for families or singles looking to do Disney and save a few bucks. No need to go off property. And if you have a large family, Disney offers family value priced suites at the All Star Resort and the brand new Art of Animation Resort which is actually "the other half" of Pop Century, opening May 15, 2012.

Room Tip: If you wish to be closest to the Food court & busses, request the 60's section, although the...

Rooms are basic but do now have a refrigerator. We loved the diversity of food options at the food court. Refillable cups are a good option if you are staying a few days.

Third trip to Disney, staying at a Dinsey resort and must say this resort was great. Used the Disney Magic Express and online check in which was a great added benfit of booking directly with Disney Vacations. Our bags were checked at the airport and we never saw them again until we opened the door to our room and they were there. When planning this trip considered a moderate and deluxe resort as well but in the end decided to go with a value resort. Spending most of the time outside the room or at the parks made this a simple choice. Pools are pools and grounds are grounds, couldn't justify paying more for a resort I was hardly going to be at (other than to sleep). The room was perfect for what it was, clean always maintained and served it's purpose. Restaurant is cafeteria style and the food was perfect. Lots of choice, quickly served and good quality (was never hungry). The staff at the resort were great, friendly and very helpful. Any call to the front desk was quickly answered and handled. Called for towels and the staff was at the door within minutes and we were in one of the furthest buildings from the main area (80s and 90s building). Pool was great, not too busy and good for kids. Depth was 3 feet along the edges and about four feet out, never had a concern with my kids being in there while I was resting in a deck chair of which there were plenty.

We used the Disney dinning plan for our visit (included one quick serve, one sit and dine and one snack per person everyday). This was plenty, portion sizes are so much we would turn down the desert at the end, (too full). I recommend the dining plan of some type as it is very busy at ALL restaurants at ALL locations (Downtown Disney and the theme parks) from about 4:00pm onwards and waiting is long. Make reservations for every day you are there for your sit and dines and plan accordingly to be at the park you need to be at for the day. This worked out well and we never waited, but the wait times was the most overheard complaint from other people.

Would go back in a heartbeat without a doubt.

Room Tip: There is no choice for rooms at the value resorts unfortunately. However, every section is with in...

Stayed at Pop Century for 6 nights during a familhy of 4 vacation.
Great hotel for price, very clean, very helpful staff, grounds are well maintained, pools are great for small children.
Online check in was easy and so efficient and food in the food court was good too.

Room Tip: we chose a room close to the laundry facility and pool. it was a quick walk through the parking lot...

Just returned from 6 nights at Pop Century with my 26yo daughter. I absolutely loved this hotel. Yes, the rooms are small. But for the price we could'nt beat it. If we were there with my husband and 20yo son I definately would look into a suite in another property. I don't think Pop Century has suites. The room was clean. When I asked for extra towels in the morning they were there after the room was cleaned. The grounds are incredibly cheerful with huge icons placed around the property. We got a preferred room close to the main building and transportation hub. Loved the Hippy Dippy Pool. When we were checking out we were able to check in our bags right at the hotel. The food court was not gourmet, but it was fine for what we wanted. I highly recommend this hotel for budget minded folks. We had a wonderful stay here and at Walt Disney World. Will definately be back.

Room Tip: We had a preferred room in the 60's building next to the Hippy Dippy Pool. Ask for a room not f...

Just returned from Disney and a stay at Pop Century we have stayed here before and it is clean and a good value for the money. We did online check in and were in our room immediately. It is a wonderful resort if you have kids the Disney touch is everywhere and I am more than ok with that. Other reviewers mentioned the plain rooms and they are plain but as a repeat disney visitor I appreciate the upgrades of refridgerators in the room and a divider curtain between the bath and the rest of the room. Food court options were typical but plentiful for sharing if you so desire. My only real complaint is if you are sensitive to noise at night depending on your neighbor you will hear them. If you are a true park tourer you aren't in the room much anyway. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: For me I was having some health issues and requested a building near transportation and that worked...

Booked a room with 2 beds, but were given a king size bed. Staff at reception were very helpful in explaining how to change room and offered to send a fold away bed to the room for the night.
Luggage staff and staff taking bed to room were very slow and eventually had to collect luggage ourself.
Staff at concierge desk were very polite and helpful in booking day trips and restaurant reservations.

Rooms are very basic and compact, but does the job. Cleaning most days were excellent, however cleaning products were left in the room one morning.

Hotel overall has a fun and energetic atmosphere, with several swimming pools with games played throughout most days. Lots to keep you amused.

Hotel is situation very close to Art of Animation, which opens later in the year and is close to Downtown Disney and the water parks.

Overall, good value for money: basic rooms but plenty to do and fun décor throughout the entire resort.
