“Low price=low comfort”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2012

Our family of five (all adults) stayed here over Fall break in a family suite. While the price and location were excellent, the beds were the most uncomfortable that any of us had ever slept on. For this reason alone, I would not recommend staying here I'd you need a good night's sleep after a long day in the parks.

On the other hand, the price was excellent as was the service received and the location of our room. I've stayed at Disney resorts before (including this one in a regular room) and would absolutely do it again--just not in the family suite due to the discomfort of the sleeping surfaces. Sorry Disney, you did not live up to your reputation or my expectations this time.

My 4 year old son and I booked a room only reservation here for 5 days back in September of 2010. Little did we know that the rooms had just been refurbished. We had previously stayed at the All Stars Movies and we were very impressed with how nice the rooms were at the Pop Century.
The rooms had fresh paint, new furniture and new carpet. The "mousekeeping" was great with the exception of the bedspread which had coffee stains on it. The TV was a flat screen which we did not have at the other value resort. We still had to pay $10/night for a fridge.
We were placed at the back of the 50's section, which was great. We could see the fireworks from Epcot at night from our window. The view was of the lake, looking over to the Art of Animation resort. (vacant at that time) We loved our location because we had quick access to the bowling pin pool, which became our favourite. It wasn't as busy, it was warmer and shallow all the way across. It made for great swimming for a beginner.
The walking from our non-preferred rooms was not much at all to get to the food court or bus stops. We never had to wait long for a bus and it was resort specific. We always had to share with 3 resorts when staying at the All Stars.
The theming was not as exciting as the All Stars Movies but is was enough to keep my 4 year old interested. He loved the Goofy splash pad.
This is a great resort if you are looking for something cheap and practical. Do not expect extras and you will love it. The front desk service was fantastic.

Room Tip: Try to stay in a location close to parking if you have rented a car. We were very far from parking a...

We booked 2 rooms in January 2012; one for our daughter and grandson from January 8-15
they gave us adjoining rooms on the ground floor in the 80"s bldg. so it was nice to step out and walk right over to the dining hall, a few minutes away- my daughter and I had to have gluten free meals, and we were wowed by the eagerness of the chef and waitstaff to accommodate us, the food was decent , if not excellently prepared! they gave us good helpings, too-
one day I was tired and went off by myself while the others went to play in the park...I went over to the wilderness lodge and sat down to a nice breakfast, and the waitress, sideways sue, sat and chatted with me for much of meal, I felt like a princess!
My husband and I dined a tthe Rose and Crown at Epcot and the chef came out and talked with me before preparing my gluten free meal, which was generous in size and oh so delicious!
Getting back to the Pop, it was a really a great value, quiet, except for one bad experience, the first night, my daughter was startled awake by a man ion the next room, screaming at someone, she couldn't make out his words, but she said it was frightening and creepy, although we did not report the incident, we told he to do call the front desk if it happens again, and do so right away.
the pool was very refreshing and clean- we went in 2 times, but then the weather got too chilly to swim-
I can't say enough about the courteousness of the staff, they really make you feel special, my grandson cried when we left !

This is our second stay at a Disney property. The room was standard sized room w/a mini-fridge which was nice for placing water bottles to chill for the park visits. The staff worked with us to ensure that we were in a room w/o any weird smells (had an issue w/room at All Star Sports), which kept my daughter's asthma and my allergies at bay. Down side, the food was mediocre...burger line had good food but the other stuff was average cafeteria style food. Drinks at the pool side bar were normal resort priced drinks. Also on our last day there, we were a little late leaving the room and the maid only left us clean towels on the door. The room was not made up and we had to call for correct number of towels. Otherwise the staff was very friendly and we enjoyed having a dedicated bus for the resort (didn't have to make several stops at other hotels, etc.)

I just returned from six nights at Pop Century, and it was a great choice. Our room was in the 50s section, and we rarely saw or heard anyone. The room had a refrigerator (surprise to us since we hadn't paid extra for it) and was extremely clean. Good tv and variety of channels. Free wi-fi. The hotel food court had several choices at fairly reasonable prices. I have stayed at all the All-Star hotels, and I felt this was a small step up from them. There were two large pools, one that had the kids--one that was fairly quiet. Nice beds. Make sure you do the on-line check in. You will save a great deal of time when you check in. I used the Disney service for airport transportation. They pick up your bags and bring them to the hotel. Even better, you check-in for your return flight at the hotel, so no bags and no check-in at the airport!!I will definitely stay here again.

My family and I opted to stay at Pop Century during our Disney World trip for Spring Break, after reading reviews from TripAdvisor. We had never been to Disney World before, but quickly opted for the dining plan with a stay at Pop Century. Our room was the smallest room we had ever stayed in at a hotel, but we were not there but 6-8 hours a day so it really would not have been worth upgrading to a moderate resort at Disney versus staying at Pop Century, just to have more walking or lounging room.

The entire facility as well as our room were well-maintained and comfortable during our six-day stay. The room included an on-wall thermostat, sufficient lighting, a small sink area, and typical hotel furniture. There were definitely not any extras in this standard room. The beds only included two pillows per bed, but the sheet sets and pillow cases were clean and crisp. It did not appear that any repairs were needed in our room, and it was obvious that the cleaning staff did an honest job when cleaning our room. The shower area was small, like one would find in most low-grade hotels like Comfort or Quality Inn, for example. Perhaps the most disappointing feature of the room was the television, because there were too many channels that solely introduced travelers to attractions at Disney World or Disney Vacations; we were hoping to watch Disney movies when beginning and ending our day, but Disney Junior was all our children had to watch.......they've out-grown Mickey's Clubhouse.

As for the grounds keeping, we never found any misplaced trash on the resort property during our stay. All three pools were clean and spacious, and were always occupied by at least one lifeguard per pool. However, I do believe if one pool has sprinklers (or spraying flowers) that the other pools should have playful sprinklers too. We especially appreciated the decor of the resort's exterior that excited our children every time they found a new larger-than-life character or decade reminder (like a jukebox, walk-man, etc.).

Everything Pop offered several souvenirs, clothing, toys, and edible treats to purchase that were all Disney-priced. Some items could be found at the local Wal-Mart for half-price or less. But, some things are very unique and worth spending, if it is desired enough.

As for the dining plan at Disney while eating at Everything Pop, the only perk was that it is clearly more affordable to purchase the dining plan over paying for each meal and snack out-of-pocket. While the eatery included several choices, there was always the constant feeling that you were really not getting anything different to eat. To change the menu up a bit, it would be nice to have loaded baked potatoes, various soups, and various salads for meals or side items. Our children who are nearly 8 years old are expected to eat no more than a child that is 3 years old? Did you know that children who visit Disney while using the dining plan are expected to eat the same portions, ages 9 and under? It is obvious that there should be two categories of children's ages, maybe 0-5 and 6-9, requiring you to pay more or less so that your children will be well-fed during their visit. Thankfully, our child that weighs 49-lbs did not usually finish his entire meal which allowed our child that weighs 54-lbs. to finish his meal and feel replenished. It is sad to say, but we have decided to not visit Disney World again until they are 10 years old, just so they can be offered the same food amounts they would at home without their parents having to purchase individual food items which require another $100 to do so.

I stayed at Pop Century with a 13, 12 and 9 year old during their March spring break. The resort is colorful and well kept. Rooms are small, and beds are full size instead of queen. There are several pools, a dining hall, game room, multiple laundry rooms and walking trails.

The entire staff, from front dest to housekeeping is very friendly and willing to please. They recented added free Wi-Fi in all rooms as well as mini-refrigerators. The Wi-Fi service is spotty and weak to say the least. The best signal is outside near the shuttle bus stops in the front of the resort. Mini fridges are beverage style, meaning there is no compressor....no small freezer area. They are really meant to keep beverages cold.

The rooms are starting to show a little age, but overall the hotel is a good inexpensive Disney property.

I was amazed to see painters working at 2am when we were returning from a late night at the Magic Kingdom.

There are lots of kid activities around the 70s pool in the afternoon, with a cast member who has a mic and lots of great music and games. Even gift shop cast members will play Disney Trivia for stickers!

Room Tip: Preferred rooms are closer to bus stops and dining halls. 50s, 70s and 80s wings are good choices...
