“My Favorite Disney Resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2012

I just got back from doing "One More Disney Day" for Leap year and stayed at Pop Century like I always do when I visit Disney World. I have stayed here many times and have never had any bad experiences that would make we want to stay anywhere else for my vacation. I always stay in the 1970's on the top floor if I can. I'm a light sleeper and the 70's is the quietest place to stay. If you stay in the 1960's it's the noisiest place as it's right where the main pool is and near where they show that night's movie, which is cool to watch on the big screen they set up.
This time was the first I did not have my own transportation and had to use Disney's bus transportation for everything. Buses to and from the parks were GREAT! Never had to wait very long for a bus and the drivers were helpful and nice.
As for the rooms I do think they're a little overprice, but to be closer to the parks is nice. The rooms just have the basic things you need like a Motel 6. If you just need a place to rest and store you things Pop is a good choice. There are not coffeepots in the rooms or internet access at the resort, unless you bring a laptop with you then it's $10/24 hr high speed access in your room only. My suggestion leave your laptop at home, your on vacation.
Food court is quick service that takes the Dinning plan and I love breakfast at the court, but not lunch/dinner so much. It's also a little pricey but it's Disney.
Personal Tip for Pop: At least once be in the Dinning area or lobby at 6 pm. Something special happens, which is one of the reasons I love Pop.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 70's are the quietest, 60's are the noisiest. Don't get a preferred room...

Took my nephews the first week of January and we had a very nice stay. Alway clean, fun environment, helpful staff and as for the buses, I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes. There were a few issues, the towels are too small, no option for roll-a-way bed, and the cafeteria while food was pretty good was very crowded during peak meal times. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room close the the food court the property is large and after a long day you don't...

If you find a good price for this hotel it is really great. Big pools, great foodcourt, clean rooms with somethimes a towelanimal waiting for you in the evening. You do have a hike from most rooms to your car, and the good price attracts a "cheery" crowd, so check if it will be a busy time or not....

I absolutely love this hotel, it's so great and just screams Disney! My wife and I have spent three holidays here, the most recent being April-May 2011. The reception area is great, although the queues are often quite long and can take some time to get through. That said, as it's the start of the holiday when you check-in you're generally full of excitement, so it's not the end of the world. The rooms are great and are the standard two queen beds or one king bed set-up, which is perfect - the beds are extremely comfortable. The rooms are always clean and housekeeping do a great job of keeping it that way. The eatery can be a little noisy and manic at times, but it's a nice place to eat with a good selection of food on offer. The location of the hotel is great with easy access to the Disney parks and other theme parks. We always hire a car, so have not used Disney transport from this hotel, but I can say that the bus-stops often look busy during rush hour periods. The there's the Disney perks that come with staying at a Disney hotel, which makes the stay even more amazing.

However, there's just one major problem with this hotel and is the reason I've not given it five stars... it's the soundproofing - It's rubbish! You can hear people walking/running past your room, you can hear people in the pool, you can hear people running a bath and flushing the toilet... the noises are endless. Now this would probably not be a problem to families with children, as they are likely going to bed and getting up at a similar time to everyone else. However, when you don't have children and want to stay out late and stay in bed in the morning, it can become a huge annoyance. So much so, that on our next planned trip to Walt Disney World, we won't be staying at Pop Century (which is a real shame) and will be opting for a more "grown-up" hotel like the Hilton. Even with the great Disney perks and Disney atmosphere, we'd rather just stay in a hotel with better soundproofing.

If you're travelling with children, stay here as it's awesome and they'll love it. However, if you're a couple visiting during the busy season, perhaps consider somewhere else... but only perhaps.

Only thing that prevented an excellent rating is we were given a room with two double beds. My husband and I would have preferred a single queen or king as requested so on check in remind the staff.
