“Way over crowded”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2010

Went to Universal today 22 December 2010. Choice of either getting a ticket in toon town to enter 2 hours later or you had to queue for one hour just to get into Wizarding Work of Harry Potter. We chose the former. Talk about unorganised chaos, everyone just pushed to get in and the staff were all over the place and had no control of the situation. Once you got in it was so crowded you could hardly move, it's an accident waiting to happen. Waiting time for rides was up to 90 mins. We did one ride and left. Crazy, avoid avoid avoid. Universal are clearly milking the success of Harry Potter and the welfare of its customers is nowhere to be seen. The rest of Islands of Adventure was not too bad, average wait time for rides about 45 mins. Huge parking charge hike to $15 dollars just because it is Christmas. Happy Christmas Universal - I don't think so!!!

“Harry Potter Faithfully Brought to Life - Some Advice, though”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2010

This is not a review of the Universal Studios, but a summary of Harry Potter World. Universal has done an incredible job bringing the books and movies to reality in this theme park. Of course, I highly recommend the visit if you are a fan. We went in October, but this is my quick advice on what to expect and to save some time and effort because this place is busy and packed with people!
-There will be lines everywhere. Lines to get into gift shops even. Expect it. Each Harry Potter store will stock specific items not available at the other local Harry Potter stores. However, they are all available at the Universal shop in CityWalk and also near the entrances of both parks. There are some items inside the Studio Stores within the Park that is not available in the Citywalk Unversal store.
-Olivander's Wand shop is an especially long wait because they take in people 20 at a time. One child is chosen for a "wand choosing". We didn't try it, but most people whom we've talked to thought it was worth the hour wait.
-The best times for the Harry Potter Forbidden Journey ride is first thing in the morning and close to the park closing time. Express Pass is not permitted for this ride. Don't be afraid of the wait because the queue for the ride is an experience in itself. We had a 45 minute wait through the queue and felt rushed through the "pre-staging" area. I missed getting pictures and enjoying the "pre-show" even with 45 minute wait.
-Hogsmeade at night provides a different atmosphere than Hogsmeade during the day. Consider this if you want some night pictures of Hogwarts.
-There will be lines for Butterbeer. If you want to save time, go into "The Three Broomsticks". You can order Butterbeer here as well with the souvenir glass if you desire without the wait in the heat. During mealtime, when the Three Broomsticks is busy, there is another cart near the bridge that exits Hogsmeade to Jurassic. If you're curious Butterbeer tastes like a mix of cream soda and butterscotch.
-"The Hog's Head Pub" is part of "The Three Broomsticks". They both sell a Hog's Head Beer with a souvenir mug for the adults.
-The "Dragon Challenge" ride is a rebadged coaster of the old "Duelling Dragons". Express Pass is permitted for this ride. There are some Harry Potter artifacts in this queue that are not in Hogwart's queue (Like the TriWizard cup).
-The "Flight of the Hippogriff" ride is a rebadged coaster of the old "Flying Unicorn" roller coaster. Highlights of this queue includes Hagrid's Hut and a Hippogriff nest.
-Finally, my last advice on the lesser known things of Harry Potter Workd... You can get your postcards stamped from Hogsmeade. The Owl Post is a working Post Office

Oh my goodness where do I start. With all the hype for this attraction me and my boyfriend were really looking forward to stepping foot into Hogsmead but what a dissapointment.

Don't get me wrong the main ride was very cool and the castle and Hogsmead Village were impressive, but having to que for 2 hours to get into Olivanders which sells plastic wands which you could probably buy from Toys R Us was rideculous and so many people were falling for it! Also it seems as its Harry Potter Universal can charge double the price for t-shirts and scarfs etc than the rest of the Park.... whats that all about.

I'd also like to comment on the fact that there is only one new ride in this attraction. Dragon Challenge (formally Duelling Dragons) is just slightly updated well the que line anyway! and flight of the Hypergrith (sorry if its spelt wrong) was again already there, Universal have basically changed the name.

Don't que to get into Zonko's joke shop either, theres nothing in there worth buying, well no jokes or magic, what a disspointment and don't be fooled into bying butter beer (8 dollars it cost for one small plastic cup) crazy if you ask me.

Universal could have made this part of the park so much better, maybe have characters walking about ie Dumbledore, more new rides and maybe Diagon Alley. The wasted space occupied by shops which were not open could have been used for somthing. There's so much that they could have improved on. I know its eartly days and I hear that Universal wern't expecting the vast amount of crowds but come on!!

All in all we were very very dispointed. Please dont fall for the hype.
