This review is sadly 2 years late, I visited in July of 2011. I wouldn't waste my money on this place if I were you. Just enjoy the rest of universal, it's a wonderful park overall, but this nonsense is a joke. The lines for rides are ridiculously long, and trust me, they aren't even worth the wait. Stores even have lines to get in, and all for what, to buy some overpriced worthless crap that you can find at your local mall. Oh yeah and long rowdy lines of people to get pumpkin juice or "butter beer". If you must partake in these oh so magical refreshments, get the pumpkin juice, the butter beer tastes like someone wrung out Harry's jock strap into a mug. Tour of the castle or whatever that garbage was was way too crowded...definitely not something you wanna do during the summer. Staff selling overpriced fans to customers, it's as if they're charging you NOT to have a heat stroke while you wait in line like cattle destined for the slaughterhouse...that's about as much fun as you'll have here. The biggest attraction at this trash would have to be "the waiting game". Ditched this dump as fast as I could run and had a good meal at the hard rock and enjoyed the rest of the park. I'd say this is good for kids...but my 6 year old sister wanted to leave more than I did upon 5 minutes after entering. STAY AWAY FROM THIS!! You want a Harry potter experience? Then go to England.... Not this.

The rides were wonderful and the children loved the whole experience! The virtual reality ride inside the castle is really cool and should not be missed. The wait is worth it.

My 20yo daughter and I booked a tour here following some happy, fun times at Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando.

And we weren't disappointed.

Our tour was at 1.30pm, which gave us plenty of time to travel up from the south coast. We arrived around 12.50, parking was very organised and easy, despite the rain, boo. We joined the line for the next tour immediately and were off on our adventure within 20 minutes. There are even photo opportunities (Harry's bedroom under the stairs) while waiting to go in to the pre-tour talk.

You then watch a movie and off you go. Now this was my only tiny niggle of the whole tour - the time we were given in The Great Hall (though to be fair, the only part of the tour where you are guided, the rest you do at your own pace and you do need a few hours to thoroughly enjoy it). I would have preferred to spend a little more time in the Hall when it was empty taking photos, but we were quickly moved through to allow the next tour to come through. So if you want to take photos with the Hall empty get to the front! It is wonderfully laid out and you can picture Harry, Ron Dumbledore and the gang all in there.

The artefacts are just superb throughout the tour, reminding you of all the films. All the special effects are just seemless when you watch them, yet hours of creation and work must have taken place just to film one scene.

And one of the bestt things? Apart from the pre-tour movie, you can photograph everything and anything.

You can even part with more money to have a movie taken of you flying on a brookstick, or in the Ford Anglia (there's a stationery Anglia outside to have your photo taken in too). If you don't fancy buying one, just watch them being made; it's really quite amusing.

Outside you visit No 4 Privet Drive, the old house (where Harry's parents' died), The Knight Bus and the wooden bridge into Hogwarts. Unfortunately for us the bridge was closed due to the rain, but it was good to see it (the bridge itself was dry as covered, but there are metal steps up to it).

Out here you can also grab a light bite to eat (I think it was cakes, biscuits, hotdogs) and Butterbeer. Yum.

Into the next Studio and you wander through Diagon Alley, see some memorable pictures and artwork - and then there was the piece de resistance: the massive model of Hogwarts.

I don't want to spoil anything so going to leave it there. Just go and visit!

The books and movies really seem to come alive here. At most, it takes a half-day to see and do everything in Hogsmeade - the fictional town from the books and movies that's near Hogswarts School for Witchcraft and Wizarding - and this area of the larger Universal Islands of Adventure. The virtual reality ride inside Hogwarts Castle and Olivander's wand shop are really special as is the overall look of the area. Eating in the restaurant 3 broomsticks also makes you feel that you're you're part of the Harry Potter story. Most of the storefronts that make up the fictional town are just fronts, not active shops. So, it really doesn't take too long to do everything, depending on lines. There are one medium and two large roller coasters that have Harry Potter related names, but really don't extend the illusion of being in one of the books or movies. My only negative criticism is having to wait for about an hour in the hot sun to get into Olivander's. Universal, can't you come up with a spell for some kind of a roof or canopy to protect your customers? Until then, wear a hat and have a drink handy. Top tip: if you're getting ready to wait on a long line at the butter beer cart, walk around the cart to its other side where there's another serving location that usually doesn't have much of a line.
