Loved this place the rooms were very nice . There were lots of unusual animals right outside our window everyday. The pool was nice. Also, the food was excellent. Everyone attentive. Only downsides --- long bus rides to attractions, rooms are far away from lobby , check in process took an hour.

We booked this hotel during another trip to Naples, FL and decided to try. Flew into Naples and out of Orlando, about a 3 hour drive. We had some issues with our requested room not being available and also with all the seniors jazzies plugged into the wall near our room. Believe it or not, we were upgradedto a two room, three bathroom suite. Incredible, we did not want to leave. One of the best rooms we ever had with giraffes and zebras right outside either of our patio doors.

My husband and I stay here 2-3 times a year, each time for a week or longer. We wouldn't be doing that if the place sucked. Even if you go with a standard view, there are still many, many places to see the animals from. We're going back soon, and I can't wait!

Room Tip: I can add a few tips: #1, if you have kids, stay next door at Animal Kingdom's Kidani Village, n...

It's not a zoo, but, if you like the idea of a safari but don't want to travel around the world, and still get the feeling of being up close and as personal as you can, this Disney Hotel is for you! What child, (from 1 to 100) wouldn't love to see animals like an Okapi, Wildebeast, Giraffes, Black Rhinos, Warthogs, (just like in the Lion KIng!!!), Greater Kudu, Elephants and so much moore. There are tours at the Animal Kingdom Lodge like the Sunrise Safari, the "WanyamaSunset Safari"(book thru the hotel concierge, includes dinner, 407-938-4755), Sunrise Safari same phone #, Jambo House Campfire sit and toast masrshmallows, hear stories and sing-a-longs. Music and Cultural Events, usually by exchange students who share music, songs, and tales from there native countries. Soooo much to do and see you can't go wrong. Please note: some of the tours at the hotel may require a club level stay. Don't despair, there are lots of other tours at the Animal Kingdom too, like the Backstage Safari, Wild Africa Trek, and Wild by Design, call 407-WDW-TOUR

Room Tip: Savanah rooms are the best for viewing the animals. Club level Savanah Rooms are better, both are p...

We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for one week in May 2014. We booked our Disney vacation through the wonderful Robyn Ayers of Dream Makers Vacation Services. This trip was me, my husband, and our four year old daughter.
I can't say enough good things about this resort. It is truly special. This was our second time staying at AKL and honestly it is hard to imagine us ever staying elsewhere on Disney property. We stayed in a savannah view room and being able to wake up in the morning and have breakfast on our balcony overlooking the animals is something truly special. Our daughter loved being able to just step outside and see what animals she could spot at any given time.
The rooms are nicely appointed and spacious enough for a family of four. We had two queen beds, a small table with two chairs, and another table with two chairs on the balcony. I appreciated the double sink and the toilet being separate from the sink area. Makes getting ready in the mornings easier.
The lobby area is truly spectacular. All of the cast members we interacted with could not have been nicer. The pool is huge and there is a water slide. Life jackets are also available to borrow at the pool. There are tons of daily activities for the kids and nightly movies by the pool.
This resort has some of the best restaurants on property, in my opinion. Boma is wonderful and a great introduction to African food as it is a buffet so you can try everything. The Mara is the resort quick service and the food was always very good too. There is also a signature restaurant, Jiko, but we did not have the chance to dine there this trip. There is also a lobby bar and a pool bar for when you need some adult time!
Overall we absolutely love this resort and definitely plan on staying here again in the future. One thing to note is the property is a little bit further away from the parks other than Animal Kingdom but for us the pros outweigh the cons. We choose to drive when we are there but the resort does not share buses so that helps cut down on travel time when using Disney transport. We personally feel the location adds to the charm. It is a peaceful respite from the craziness of the parks and a wonderful escape at the end of a busy day.
I look forward to planning our next trip back to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

This was an amazing stay. We woke to giraffes munching their breakfast outside our balcony! Loved the theming, loved the pool, fun was great too.
One thing to note is that the resort can be far from the Reston the Disney action. We were very glad to have a car to get around. Some guests were concerned about taking a long time to reach the water parks and about making it on time to reservations, so plan accordingly. Or just spend the entire time having fun on property!
