Ate there twice during a recent insurance convention trip. Very good Italian food and very good service. Good ambiance.

This has long been one of my favorites in Orlando. It would flourish as a standalone restaurant and is surprisingly good for a hotel place -- I think Orlando much as Las Vegas is finally getting some excellent restaurants in hotels beyond the usual steak place.
While the service lacks the flash of the more pompous places it is friendly, attentive and competent. If you're looking for dark romantic settings or nose-in-the-air tuxedo waiters you won't find it here -- so you will like this place if you are looking for good food and service more so than impress-me food and service.
The food is traditional Italian with just a little inventive thrown in (the Bolognese sauce with duck and beef versus the usual beef and pork is excellent). Portions are large but not overwhelming. Menu is balanced but not huge. Wines by the glass are excellent (how often do you find an Amarone by the glass?).
Went on a Thursday night with 9 other business associates. They allowed separate checks (18% gratuity! sort of standard nowadays).
Beers were bottles but had a Swamp IPA from Florida Brewing Co, very good. Also had Ommergang from NY and London Pride Porter among others.
I ordered the Gnocchi ($24) . Very good. And a side ($7) of Brussels sprouts with capers and brown butter, excellent. Bruschetta as an appetizer had provolone and fresh sage and tomatoes. Others had salmon ($24) grilled pork chop ($32) and all said their food was very good.
Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff. Service was ok.
We were a group of about 20 people. 2 large tables of 10. To start we choose a whole bunch of appetizers. Everything was delicious. The service considering the big group we were was also very impressive. The restaurant is a modern clean zen look. Very trendy. The main dish was also very good. It was overall a great experience. They also had a great selection of wines. I was quite impressed with the overall menu and food. Something to try. This restaurant is in the Hilton Hotel in the main lobby. A walk from the Waldorf Astoria where we stayed so definately a restaurant to try. Nice atmosphere not to noisy and not a commercial place. I liked that about the restaurant and being in the hotel lobby didnt expect it to be as good as it was. Bravo to chef and staff.
We have had a number of excellent meals at La Luce. From the beginning to the end, our meals were absolutely outstanding. For extra special meals, be sure to ask for Joe. Joe really went the extra mile to make sure every detail was taken care of. I would give La Luce a 10 out of 10!
