“Relaxing View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013

We arrived for our reservation early so we could request a window seat. We were told it would be a 35 minute wait but it was just 10 minutes and we were seated before our reservation. Afternoon seating and we were able to see some animals. If you have time, be sure to look out the hall way windows and outdoor patio to view more animals. We had the bread service, butter chicken/short ribs and tandoori shrimp sandwich. For dessert, we shared Banana Kulfi Sundae. Everything was very good. The server was knowledgeable and help guide our bread and dip choices. Not sure I would dine here if it wasn't for the view. Most of the animals could be seen from the outdoor patio where a guide was available to answer our questions. It may be difficult for some to get here but we had a car.

“Oh where or where is Sanna?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

Well - first of all - we couldn't find the place. We drove over from Saratoga Springs and parked in front of the main lobby walked in and then realized that Sanna is in the "other" AK lobby...a LONG walk away and it was HOT out! We walked and after looking for a while found some tiny sign on a wall that led us downstairs to Sanna. Now almost late we blew our plan to have drinks and enjoy the dusk view of the animals. So make note - Sanna is NOT in the main building ! We checked in and asked for a table with a view if possible. Side note - the interior and main buildings of this resort are just beautiful! Go early and check them out - I so wish we were not rushed trying to find the place as that was our plan. After check in we went outside to see the animals. There was a large fire burning and it may have been more enjoyable on a cooler night, but it made for great atmosphere! We were buzzed in for dinner and scored a perfect table right in front of the windows in the center of the restaurant! Nice! Zebras having their dinner right outside our window! There is really nothing all that weird on the menu here. So bring your picky eaters - they will survive! As per suggestions on other TA reviews we ordered the bread service with all 9 sauces. There were 7 of us so we ordered 2 - and it was gone in 30 seconds flat! Too small!! We had lots of sauce left over so we ordered more bread but it took forever to come. It was great - and well presented but more bread please! It was fun to try all 9 sauces and we even saved some to use with our dinner entrees. Ordered African Mojito drinks off the specialty menu that were well made. The watermelon fennel salad was just blah - nothing to rave about - I was actually letdown! Most of our group tried the combo of Butter Chicken/ Shrimp/ Bison/ options with the different gravy sauces and rice. I was not impressed. It was poorly presented (slop in a cup) and just did not taste all that great - no wow factor. My son and daughter chose well - the tandoori shrimp and the lamb shank - both were beautifully presented and delicious! We skipped dessert because we were just stuffed. (the bread....!!) Our server was one of the best we had for our entire trip. Down to earth and friendly. She was not overly speedy, which we didn't mind - it made for a very relaxing enjoyable dinner! So go for the experience - make good menu choices, relax and enjoy the slower pace of this resort. We will be back!

“Eat on the edge of the savannah”

Simply the best restaurant ever. Sit at your table watching the animals browse. The South African oriented food is excellent.. Although they serve lunch and dinner, I prefer lunch so I can watch the animals

“Delicious Lunch!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

We visited Sanaa for lunch this past Thursday and were very pleased with our experience. Our server (Michael?) was absolutely wonderful - engaging, humorous, fun, informative. We started with the Bread Service - Naan, Garlic Naan, and Onion Kulcha and got ALL the accompaniments - $2 more to taste all 9 of them (rather than choosing 3) but it was totally worth it! I would recommend, if you have an adventurous palate to do the same! Between the two of us, we had the Potato & Pea Samosas (wonderful!), Salad Sampler (chickpeas w/ cucumber and tomato; watermelon, cucumber, and fennel; and something I can't recall the name of w/ tomatoes - all delicious!), Chana Tikki (OMG - good!), and Spicy Durban Shrimp w/ Basmati Rice. We finished our meal off with coffee and a pot of Vanilla Rooibos tea (so good!), as well as Tanzanian Chocolate Mousse w/ Kenyan Coffee and Caramel (strongly recommend you try this! - even the decorative pieces (including edible Gold leaf flakes and quote on the plate are edible!)

BTW - if you are vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-sensitive (and LOVE all kinds of vegetables - lol), you should have no problem finding something delicious to accomodate your needs here! Our server said they could basically bring you anything / any variation of the menu in any quantity you wanted (e.g. larger version of one of the salad samplers, a plate of a larger serving of the garnish "salad" that I loved from the Chana Tikki, etc.) Just ask - and be adventurous! :)

Overall, an EXCELLENT experience - absolutely delicious food, one of the BEST servers we've had in a long time (anywhere - not just Disney!), and a lovely view. What more could you ask for? :)

“Location = Great. Food = Average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

Not a lot of bang for your buck. Two adults and two children ate here today 23/08/13.

Others have raved about the breads. $10.99 for an oily plain naan and an overly spiced naan plus two popadoms, if I went again I'd give this a miss.

Lamb shank for main. Strange bitter taste and so very dry. Wife had chicken and bison curry; one was very mild and the other very spicy but she finished most of it.

Desert - Both had banana kulfi sundae. This saved the meal, it was a real triumph.

All in all, if you are on the disney dining plan then give it a go. Nice location, animals such a zebra and giraffes wondering around outside is a true experience. If your paying hard cash, there are better places that charge $25 for a main.
