“Fantastic rooms!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

My stay was August 21, 2013. Being a Disney Vacation Club member I usually stay at Disney's Old Key West resort but since it was going to be a one night stay I booked a 2 bedroom unit for myself, my husband, my daughter and her husband and their two children ages four and a half and two months. We wanted to try a different resort and since we were only going to the Magic Kingdom thought Bay Lake Tower would be a good choice. It was a very good choice! The rooms are beautifully modern and it has THREE full bathrooms! Room service was fantastic - had dinner and breakfast the next morning using room service. The walk to Magic Kingdom was 5 minutes. We watched the fire works from our balcony. The pool is a little shallow for my liking but was great for the four year old. All around an excellent resort. We will definitely stay here again.

So the only reason my review is not 5 stars is the cost, it is NOT cheap to stay here unless you are a Disney Vacation Club member. However, we still feel like it was worth the cost because:
- The property is really new, nice pool, nice lobby, etc.
- The rooms are huge! We loved having a 2 bedroom suite with a living room, kitchen and eating area! Washer and Dryer was a bonus too.
- The location can not be beat! Walk to Disney, monorail to Epcot and restaurants, just perfect!
It is very "modern" and not a lot of "Disney" touches, but after a day at the parks, we needed a break :)

We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa with Magic Kingdom views the first part of August, 2013. It was wonderful to be able to view the fireworks from our balcony and to see the park all lit up in the evenings. We found the space to be plenty big for a party of 11 (6 adults and 5 kids). However, the fold-out couch upstairs was used to sleep two 9 year olds and the space was very loud, they could not sleep until everyone else settled down for the night-may not be perfect if adults want to use the living space below after the kids go to bed. The actual bedrooms were very quite and had plenty of space. The décor was modern, it is attached to the Contemporary, so it is what I expected it to be. The walk to Magic Kingdom was perfect and a great way to avoid the bus lines. I would return to this location, but would not spend the extra money/points for the Magic Kingdom views.

We did a family reunion and 95th birthday in a 3 bedroom villa. It was great to have room for everyone. We had 11 people. So nice to have a kitchen for breakfast and pizzas. loved watching the fireworks at night. The kids love all the pools and the boats. It is great to get to everything. We had no problems with the room.

We chose this hotel as it seemed to be the newest Walt Disney World Resort. The hotel lobby areas and check in was great! Our room was a lake view room and a little disappointing, slightly more aged than expected and although we had 2 showers, neither of them seemed to work properly (this was a minor issue). The location was great for Magic Kingdom. Transportation throughout Disney World was excellent and very well organised!! The pool area of our hotel was excellent and very relaxing! Overall a great 6 nights.

The Bay Lake Tower is indeed a modern impressive structure that is ideally located between the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom. The resort features an amazing pool and beautifully landscaped grounds and plazas. It should be noted, though, that all of the amenities including health club, shopping, and restaurants are at the nearby Contemporary Resort which does involve a walk. The hotel is connected to the Contemporary via a beautiful skybridge accessed from the fifth floor. The Bay Lake Tower also features easy access to the Magic Kingdom (via walkway or monorail) plus a multitude of other transportation options to all the WDW theme parks and attractions.

Rooms at Bay Lake Tower are very spacious and ultra modern. While I respect the views of others who like the overall decor, I have to admit that I am not a fan. Reminds me alot of "The Jetsons." I hated all the chrome (shows every smudge mark and trust me there were many) and I thought the overall furnishings especially in the bedroom were dull and univiting. Also the shower in the master bedroom was bizarre and featured dual shower heads that could only be utilized separately. In addition the shower featured no soap dish or a place to put other shower acccessories such as shampoo, bodywash, etc. They slid off the sloped bench in the shower which I found to be useless and impractical.

Furthermore, it should also be noted that cell phone reception at The Bay Lake Tower can be very problematic for some. I'm a T-Mobile subscriber and experienced numerous issues with dropped calls and often times no network coverage at all in the room. Other people in my party experienced similar issues with Sprint and Verizon as well.

Would I stay at The Bay Lake Tower again? Yes I probably would as it is a beautiful resort, but The Grand Floridian and Yacht Club are for more luxurious that feature more traditional decor in a more relaxed, refined, quieter atmosphere.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor for a great view of Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake

Stayed in 3 bedroom villa which was nice to look at but but uncomfortable to relax in.For a newer hotel decor seemed old Modern. Not enough seating in living area to accomodate 9 guests- 1 uncomfortable couch fit 3 people and only other seating was 2 stiff chairs and the rest were dining room chairs. Not enough towels, shampoo, conditioner, or soap were provided. lighting was horrible in the bedrooms and bathrooms. no full length mirrors either. may be minor annoyances to some but drove me crazy. Pool area boring for kids aged 6 through16- not what you would expect from Disney hotel. No sign of disney much at all throughout the hotel except for Chef Mickey restaurant which is the the only redeeming quality of the hotel. That and the proximity to MK which didn't make up for the cost in DVC points to book. Stayed in saratoga and animal kingdom lodge which were much more premium hotels than this. Wouldn't recommend this hotel at all- next time will try Polynesian or Grand Floridian which are also on the monorail.

Room Tip: stayed in last room down hallway next to magic kingdom 8502 (15th floor) . nice view of fireworks, S...
