Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort

The facility is top shelf. Competent staff. Immaculate. Premium location.State of the art modern rooms. Priceless view of the Seven Seas Lagoon. Gorgeous balcony. Perfect location....monorail or walking distance to Magic Kingdom. The only downer is that it is more like a luxury high rise, so you lose a little of the Disney charm. The contemporary main building is bustling with Disney activity, plus the monorail goes right through the building itself. It has
gift shops, Chef Mickeys, and generally a fun environment. The Bay Lakes tower @ the Contemporary, however, is very sterile and a bit of a let down for kids, especially after they see the main building at the Contemporary. Also, it is a long haul to the main building to catch the monorail. As far as walking distance to Magic Kingdom.....that part is correct but don't plan on doing that with tired kids or even tired adults after a long day. Close as you can get to MK but keep in mind these facilities are huge. This hotel (really a time share) is everything it promises to be if you can live without the charm that Disney does so well. This hotel is also among the most expensive of the Disney properties. A comperable facility off property would cost about $300 per night. This runs between $500 and $800 per night. Trade off is location.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the lagoon. You can see the electrical water parade at night!

The DVC rooms at Bay Lake Tower are certainly up to Disney quality. The rooms are somewhat smaller than the other villas available, but the location is very convenient to the Magic Kingdom. Disney staff can never be faulted in any way that I have ever seen. The bar balcony to watch the fireworks is a great experience.

Room Tip: Lake views and park views are the best.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom Lake view room It was perfect. We liked being able to walk out to the Magic Kingdom, and having the Monarail close was nice too. The pool was gorgeous and the light show at night was fun to see. We are DVC members so we like visiting other resorts, we haven't had a bad experience yet!! The only "inconvenience" is that it is a long walk to the contemporary if you are hungry. The nice perk too is to go to the roof for the fireworks at night. We will be back!

We've spent the last week at Bay Lake. There are a few things that make this resort ideal. 1) Location - you can't beat walking to Magic Kingdom, or the access to the Monorail. Also, it's attached to the Contemporary and all its amenities. 2) Activities - whether it's the pool with the waterslide, the marshmallow roasting at the campfire, the games room, movies under the stars or watching the MK fireworks from the roof top (for DVC members), there's never a shortage of things to do 3) Room Design - even the studio smartly allows a family of 4 to store all our stuff, and sleep comfortably. The pull out sleepers here are extremely comfortable, even for adults. The kitchen allows for us to have breakfast from our room. And this resort must have been designed with noise control in mind, as we never hear our neighbors, or the people in the room directly above us. This is a newer resort, so it feels very modern and well maintained.

And of course, the friendliness of the staff here is in line with Disney high standards.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the pool, which was less expensive than the Magic Kingdom view. Our kids...

We have stayed in a 1 bedroom villa twice at this resort and it has been excellent each time. The rooms are spacious and great for families. The location is unbeatable. We have a 7-10 minute walk from our hotel to the gates of Magic Kingdom, plus we are on the monorail as well. The service is pretty good but I've encountered some less than pleasant cast members as well. This would not stop me from staying here as everything else is excellent. The Contempo Cafe is the quick service food option in the Contemporary (the resort connected to Bay Lake Tower by a covered walkway on the 5th floor of BLT and 4th floor of the Contemporary). There is also the Cove Bar pool quick service that has a limited menu. The pool is also very nice at this hotel (BLT) and our kids love it.

Stayed June 2012 at Bay Lake for 6 nights at a 1 bedroom. Enjoyed the new facilities, proximity to Magic Kingdom and pool area with kid's activities all day long. We went to only 2 parks during our stay, the rest of the week we enjoyed the pool area and had a great relaxing time. Great access to the Monorail to go to Grand Floridian and Polynesian restaurants, but Contemporary had great restaurants that satisfied us as well. New contemporary style rooms were crisp, clean, and bright and airy. Loved the balcony overlooking the big screen near the marina. We watched Nemo from our balcony one night!

We just stayed one week at a 2 bedrooms suite for Mardi Gras break. The resort is beautiful with contemporary decor. It has all the amenities that you can think off. Rooms are big with 3 full baths, a loundry room, and a well equipped kitchen. Beds are comfortable. The third bath room is helpfull for the kids to get ready in the morning. We love the nightly light show at the bay. This time we spent some time at the pool. The kids enjoyed the pool so much. Even the water slidewas temporary closed, they had all kinds of activities and games for the kids to enjoy. Disney really goes out of their way to make your stay comfortable as it was raining one day, they brought out all the games, toys and lots of painting as well as valentines' art and craft to keep the kids occupy. Contempo cafe has good Mahi Mahi sandwitch. Some other reviews said that the monorail broke often. We did not experience that. We usually took a short walk to the park in the morningand rode the monorail on our way back. The walkway is very scenic with beautiful landscape. Bus service is quick as we only waited roughly 10 minutes to animal kingdom park or HS.
Disney dining plan is a plus to the trip. They gave us our refillable mugs that you can refill hot and cold drinks all day long. We made our reservations early and planned our day out so we could get the most out of the week. Chef Mickey is a very good choice. The kids enjoyed all the characters there. This is a workable resort for family with young children since we can walk, take monorail, boat or bus to other resorts or parks. My kids especially love to ride the monorail since they just stayed in the stroller and we rolled them in and out.
Another tip is if you spent more than 40 dollars at the gift shop, save your receipts and you can buy Disney throw for cheaper price. Over all we had a good time at BLT. Thanks Disney for making this trip memorable.

Room Tip: try to get roon on the fith floor where they have the bridge to the Contempo Cafe, Chef Mickey, rest...
