“Beautiful Resort and outstanding staff”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Just returned from 9 night stay with our daughter and grand children, who participated in a National Gymnastics competition. We could have stayed in Disney for free, but chose to stay with our family. The resort was wonderful and the staff attended to all our needs. The outside pool and surroundings areas were great and golf, bike riding and boating activities were included in the resort fee. This is a family style resort, so if you want to have a drink after 10PM, the lobby bar is the only place. Quite noisy with children running unsupervised. The Hemingway Restaurant would have been a great alternative, but it closed at 10PM.

Room Tip: Check out room first. Our first rooms were across from the staff elevators. Very noisy, but they mov...

Green Features: You're doing a great job.During our stay the staff replaced all the filters in the halls and rooms. The AC was excellent and the room looked like it had been redone

If you are looking for a resort that is close (15 -20 mins) from Universal this is the place. After an awesome day at Universal and all things Harry Potter, it was nice to come back to the serenity of the Grand Hyatt. Peaceful walking trails and paddle boating were two of our favorite activities. It was worth the 25.00 day resort fee just for the transportation to/from Universal and not having to contend with parking. We loved the hotel parrot in the lobby. Staff was very attentive!

This resort is fabulous! Unlike most of the other Orlando hotels, this is a MASSIVE resort. Starting with its grand lobby, and its newly renovated, this resort is luxurious in every way possible. The pool is equipped with a water side, and their is a beautiful lake. But watch out for the alligators! There s golfing, and hammocks, and tons of activities for children. There is a van that goes to and from the Disney parks. Even more, they are bikes available to ride through the forests and wetlands on property. It is truly stunning! It helps you understand the other side of Florida. The service at this establishment was fairly good, average for a Hyatt property. To conclude, this is a magnificent resort, especially if you want things to do, other than going to the Disney parks!

Just returned from a three day stay for a conference held at this hotel at the end of June. The hotel and events staff were extremely helpful and attentive in handling all of the logistical and planning needs for our event. The hotel has a very large conference center with numerous meeting rooms and additional venues for receptions or cocktail events. In addition to our professional organization of about 100 people, there was a world gymnastics competition being held at the same time. Despite such a large amount of people I did not feel like the hotel was under stress or compromised their service for the groups or the regular guests staying at the hotel.

As for the hotel stay itself--check in was smooth and as a Hyatt Gold Passport member I was given a complimentary glass of champagne which was a nice touch. Hotel is very contemporary and updated. Stayed in a king room on 11th floor with view of the lake. Rooms have a small balcony/ ledge accessible with glass sliding door. No patio furniture outside, but just enough room to stand and take in the beautiful views. Room is a good size with modern furnishings including a sitting area with couch and good size working desk in neutral tones. Bathroom has nice lighted vanity, rain shower head and Kenet MD brand toiletries. My only complaint was that there was no bathtub in the King room. Room is equipped with a mini fridge.

Hotel charges resort fee and our group received a discount on that due to the number of rooms booked. I usually hate the add on charges, but if you take advantage of all that is offered, it is worth it as the hotel has many amenities. Hotel sits on Windsong Lake and offers kayaks, small sailboats, pedal boats etc. There is a trail that goes around the resort where you can jog and bikes for riding. The grounds are really nice with meandering zen walking paths with buddha statutes and well manicured landscaping. Pools have adequate lounge chairs, cascading waterfalls, and an interesting grotto area. Gym was well appointed with plenty of treadmills, cardio machines and decent collection of weight machines, free weights, kettle bells and mats. If you're into lounging around, this hotel had a lot of common area places to sit in lobby atrium and outside.

This hotel is meant to be a resort like experience and is not really walkable to outside street. You could definitely do it, but most likely you would have to cab it if you don't have a car. That being said, I dined at Hemingway's which is the fancy steakhouse which was booked and quite popular. The food was good reliable steakhouse fare and restaurant has a casual feel to it-- reminded me a lot of being in Hawaii. Also ate at the downstairs cafe for breakfast which was a bit pricey for a la carte ($20 for specialty omelet), but it had a nice lakefront view and healthy options.

Overall, I was happy with this hotel and would recommend for special events. I do not recommend the salon though. I was looking for blow dry bar nearby, but apparently the craze has not hit Orlando so I decided to book a wash and style at the on premise salon. Salon is really old and outdated. Run down, old looking hairdressing stations and decor. Did not match with the rest of the hotel. Hairdressers were nice enough, but was charged $45 for wash and blow dry. Got the wash and hair dried but no styling whatsoever. Left feeling gypped.

Room Tip: Lake front view away from pool was peaceful.

Just came back from a holiday weekend at the Grand Cypress. The kids absolutely loved the experiences they had to offer. Paddle boats, biking and wall climbing was their favorite, not to mention the pool! I was not offered any upgrades even for a better view as I always book through 3rd party and hotels don't seem to like that. Food and drink were way overpriced. I was disappointed in how filthy our room was. For a Hyatt and the price, it was not acceptable.
I have to say that we will be back but defenely, will bring food and drink from off property.

Let me start by saying I am not at all a fan of Disney but we had to do the family trip as our children are 6 and 8. I did not want to stay at a Disney hotel(rip-off) and wanted to be close enough to do our park visits. This hotel is a gem. The entire family loved it. The kids would rather stay and swim at the hotel vs. Go to the parks.

1) Pools were the best. 3 Large pools with caves that join them. The pool temp was low low/mid 80's and were very clean.
2)there were free paddleboats/canoes...kids loved them
3) free rock climbing
4) pitch n putt golf
5) bikes to use around the resort property were the best. it was so relaxing waking up early morning and going on a 5 to 10 mile bike ride along the beautiful cypress golf course
6) the gym was great also. clean, new equipment
7) food was good all around (exception Hemingway's)

odds and ends:
we did without a rental car. we used hotels buses to and from disney. we also took a few cabs to disney. always ask for a meter cab vs. the town cars. they are much cheaper. note the hotel charges $17 per day to park so that plus the cost of the rental car made it cheaper to simply take taxis when needed.

eat at el patron and the alehouse during your stay(simply take the hotel shuttle to the gate and walk from there. not far at all)

while the hotel is very reasonable (I paid $224 per night includes the resort fee) everything at the hotel is expensive. I brought a soft cooler and picked up beer, wine, water, and soda and saved a ton of money. No one at the hotel said anything so no issues.

watch the disney fireworks around 9 pm from your room if poolside
or go to the 18 th floor and watch from there

always ask for a yellow meter cab. the town cars will try to gauge you

suggestions to hotel management:

play music at the pools. you have 3 pools, perhaps make one a quiet pool and have a different vibe at the other two pools.

add a few spin bikes to the gym

Quite often, children that are the same ages as your children choose to stay and play and swim here instead of going to the theme parks. It is much more relaxing and a lot cooler than standing in line in the extreme heat for a 2 minute ride. With all the amenities we offer, no wonder kids and adults alike choose to stay and play here for their entire vacation. Thank you for your five point review and we hope to see you again soon.
