Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress
Ranked #32 of 341 Hotels in Orlando
Certificate of Excellence

The only good thing is the pool area. The rooms are small the service is terrible and the receptionists quite unpolite and rude.
Every extra is very very expensive.
If you want to go to this hotel the best thing you can do is change your mind.
NEVER AGAIN!

We have been to Orlando before and wanted to stay a resort that had children activities, pools for adults and kids, and was centrally located. The Hyatt had all our specifications.

Pros:
The hotel itself is beautiful. Well maintained, manicured grounds, and very clean.
The lobby is weirdly laid out but the elevators are centrally located which is a big plus when you are lugging a bunch of stuff and kids.
The rooms are nicely appointed. Bed comfortable and clean. Bathroom was large and clean (we were lucky and got a handicap accessible room so the bathroom was huge). Our room was facing the pool in a high floor so we were able to see the Disney fireworks (not as great as people in other reviews made it sound).
There are three pools. All great. One is actually warmer (I think they said they keep it at 80 degrees) so you can be in it until way passed 10pm and not feel cold.
There two hot tubs. Small but nice.
There is a water spout area (water shoot up from the ground). This was my kids favorite area.

Cons:
The hotel charges a mandatory "resort fee." It is for the activities and Wi-Fi. Seriously? I thought that is what I was paying for to begin with.
The hotel charges for daily self parking and valet parking. Don't get suckered into valet, just self-park.
There is no shuttle service to the parks.
There is no kid's pool. All the pools are more than 3ft and require you to buy floaties. Don't buy them at the hotel (overpriced), go to Publix and get them for a little over $1. Worth every penny.
The restaurant on site is overpriced and not very good.
To eat out you must drive, the entrance to the hotels is very long and doesn't make it easy to walk to anything.

Overall
Was worth the money. My kids loved the place and are asking to go back next vacation.

We planned to visit Orlando for a late summer vacation, and selected the Hyatt Grand Cypress as our base of operations. When we checked in we were impressed by the beautiful grounds and the gorgeous building. Especially at the $130/night price we booked through Hotels.com. But the low price is extremely deceptive.

You can expect to pay another $60-70/night when you add all of the fees - parking, "resort fee", etc. And don't expect to try to make your kids happy by having a pizza delivered - the Grand Cypress blocks delivery drivers at the gate, protecting their expensive and not-very-good in-house pizza business.

Our other complaint was with the "eco" air conditioning system. Room A/C has a motion detector, so if you're away the A/C won't run. That's fine. But the problem is that when you're sleeping, the A/C won't run, either, and you end up with a warm, humid room, and poor night's sleep. I understand Hyatt's desire to save money, but this is a poor choice.

If they'd fix the A/C and make some of the fees optional, we'd stay here again. But that's doubtful, and the result is a poor value.

I consider staying at the Grand Cypress, like being on a mega-cruise ship, except you never leave the dock and there are some amenities at the Grand Cypress that you can't get on a cruise ship.
The biggest amenity would be the 45 hole Jack Nicklaus, signature golf course that is just down the road from the hotel, but there is a shuttle, which makes it very easy to access. Don't worry if you didn't bring your clubs... complimentary rental clubs are available on a golf package that includes unlimited golf, Monday through Thursday for only $79. Weekends are $10 more.
With the Florida heat, many people are taking advantage of the $49 twilight special.
The Grand Cypress has just recently completed renovations on the lobby and the pool area. And unlike cruise ships, you won't find any chair hogs here because the pool area is gigantic.
They also have a sandy beach with volleyball and also watercraft that you can use to navigate around the huge lake.
There is also a pitch and putt golf course. located alongside the lake.
All of these amenities are included in the resort fee.
But the thing about the Grand Cypress, that keep us coming back, are the people who work there. Many of them have worked at the Grand Cypress for years.
When we come to visit, it is like coming home and seeing old friends. They go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure you have an awesome stay.
This trip, bellmen Tim (Roll Tide) , Eddie, and Van did an awesome job of not only moving us in and out but visiting with us in the lobby, as we left to go visit nearby Downtown Disney and other nearby attractions.
Anais and Angie at the front desk, made sure we had an awesome room... thanks to them we had a marvelous view for the Disney fireworks.
We can't wait to come visit again in October.

We thank you for letting the Trip Advisor readers know that you enjoyed our resort immensely. Our Jack Nicklaus signature golf course is one of the top rated resort courses in the country. The best part is that the rates are very reasonable. As you also noted, many of our staff have been here for many many years. Just the three bellmen that you mentioned have a combined 80 years of service! Our bell staff has combined service of almost 300 years. That means when you return to our resort, you will experience true hospitality as we treat our guests like family. We will once again see you in October and look forward to being of service.

My family of 4 stayed here during a business conference, 4 night stay. We enjoyed the concierge level, staff friendliness and hospitality, and golf facilities. World class hotel and room was excellent. Family friendly golf, including a 9 hole course, kayaking on the lake, multiple swimming pools with kid friendly features, all made this a fun family vacation. We didn't even have to go to Disney to stay entertained.

It is great to know that while at our resort for business, you were able to bring your family to enjoy our numerous amenities. So much so that you did not even have time to go to the local theme parks. I am sure is was way more relaxing as well. Enjoying kayaking, swimming and our nine hole pitch and putt is better than standing in line for hours any day ! Our friendly staff made for a memorable stay and we sure hope to see you and your family back in the near future.

Close to everything like downtown Disney and the parks. Great hotel and friendly staff. They have electric stations for plugin hybrids. Only part I didn't like is that self parking can be a pain at night.

Thank you for choosing our hotel to write your first review on Trip Advisor. We are indeed close to all the theme parks as we are in the heart of Lake Buena Vista yet feel miles away. This is because we have a 1500 acre gated resort that is buffered by trees, lakes and tropical plantings. We appreciate you mentioning our friendly staff as well. Our property does also offer to electric charging stations for hybrid electric vehicles. We hope you will return again soon and please recommend us to your family and friends.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 8days. Check in was provided efficiently by the wonderful Anaiss. Our room on the 12th floor was clean, large, modern with a stunning view of the pool and The Disney area. The 5 lifts were speedy and prompt. The facilities are amazing. Everything is clean, bright and light. You really could happily spend all your time at the hotel and makes the resort fees seem reasonable. The gym is well equipped and cool. Staff are helpful and the shuttle was helpful as we had no car. Please note there is only 1 pick and drop off per day to Disney's Transportation and Ticketing centre and to Universal/seaworld. I think there was several pick up and drop offs for the Premium Oulet Mall (lLake Buena Vista) but it had to be booked in advance.

The location is within walking distance of many other eateries and Downtown Disney is about a 30-40 minute walk.

It was purely the poolside service that let down our stay. Staff appeared to be working but on each of the 3 occasions that we ordered food it took us 1 hour to order and receive food, and that was often after going to the pool bar to order from the extremely overworked Ryan (who was great). The Food and Beverage Manager did make overtures regarding the matter but obviously the issues need fully addressing as it sullied an otherwise excellent stay.

Room Tip: We picked a high floor to reduce any noise from the ground level and also to enjoy the pool views.
