“very disappointed”

we meant our best friends from Ohio we are from Ga. We booked on-line and said we wanted roooms close to each other. When we walked in to check-in which we also did early check-in on-line. Neither one of us had people that could speak english. They let us believe we had rooms together. They didn't explaine the set-up and that it really wouldn't had been feasible. We were in the park almost the whole day until we got the message our rooms were ready, when we got their our rooms we at either end of the unit. We were told if we took the second floor we would be close. So we drove down to the lobby and by that time they had a hard time finding anything but said one could be up and one could be down we said OK. When my husband and I walked into the room it was very musty and had mold in the picture. For what we paid the room did not appear clean, the toilet was lopsided, we didn't have time to go back down again but the next morning the manager said our room would be cleaned top to bottom, when we got back the picture was at least changed out so we couldn't see anymore mold but we could still smell must and the mirror on the bathroom door had something running all down it. I just don't feel we should had to go down again, I hadn't had a vacation for years and I didn't want to spend my whole time down at the lobby trying to get an expensive hotel seem like an exspensive hotel. No one try to contact us to see if everyting was satisfactory. It was not full when we were there. I really feel if we had to be offered a step up in the accommodations we should have. It was heartbreaking. We really didn't use the resort for anything but breakfast and sleeping we really didn't want to spend anymore time in our room than needed. just come back from old key west after 3 weeks and found the resort fantastic, beautifully clean, friendly and close enough to see epcots fireworks!!!. We loved the quietness of the resort after a busy day at the parks and found the entertainment for the kids a welcome break. boats are there to take you to downtown disney and again it was a relaxing way to travel.we didnt have to wait more than 15mins for buses and never stood, i think alot of people take their cars even though the buses are free because there were big lines for other resorts but never old key west and the resort was full when we were there.it is a big resort but if we wanted to go to the main pool we either walked about 7 mins or got the first bus going by.with the free dining plan with this resort it is really good value(we booked through disney for tickets and hotel and got the plan free) but if you do this you must pre book your sit down meal 3 months in advance for every day(quite a mission if your going for 3 weeks!) we didnt always use them but if you dont you can come home with alot of meals unused because you cant get reservations.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Old Key West for a week on his family's DVC points. We were in a studio on the backside of the resort on Turtle Pond Rd. Our room was big and clean. The towel swans were very cute on our bed too. One of the pools was one section over from us so it didn't take long at all to walk there. The snack stand at the pool is only open from 11am-5pm which means that any other tme we want to fill up our $12.99 refillable mugs we had to take a bus up front and either walk the mile back or wait 20 minutes for an internal bus. And our snack shop workers were never very friendly and made it see like you were interupting them.
It was very easy to catch a bus to any park within 5 minutes of getting to the bus stop. It takes quite a bit longer to catch one leaving the parks. We were walking to our room which was at a turn around for the busses, and a bus flew up behind us and it's front end iwas over the curb and within 7 inches if hitting my boyfriend!
The only other complaint we had was that they were doing renovations on our bulding the whole week. Which was fine the begining of the week when they were working on the gutters. They had to stop working so that rust and dirt wouldn't fall on us trying to get to our room. We saw that the resort could use fixing up so it didn't realy bother us. Untill the day that was our "relaxing" day to not go to a park. We woke up to very loud banging on the wall where our headboard was. It was 9am and that's when we were getting up anyway but there was so much banging that the picture over the nightstand almost fell off! We got our stuff together and headed to the pool and saw that they were riping the siding off of that wall. And the next day when we came back from a park, it looked like the same exact siding was put up again. I know they need to renovate but don't put guests in the rooms where you know they will be working.
But aside from the bad things, it was a very nice, relaxing resort. The pool we went to was smaller and rarely had more than 10 people in it. We went up to the front a few times to the game room and played some darts and shuffelboard. There was a lot to do in the gameroom for kids or kids at heart. Even coloring and playstation games. The store was very nice as well with lots of food items to keep in the room so we wouldn't have to eat out every meal. Old Key West was very close to all the parks and walking around it, you couldn't even tell you were in the middle of Disney World. We would stay there again for sure.(as long as there is no construction!)

This hotel is very nice and clean. Room was close walk to one of the pools, however, due to size of resort requires a bus to walk to main restaurant and hospitality area of resort.

Bus transportation within resort and to parks was very efficient during our stay in August.

Bell staff was superior to many places I have stayed in the past. Food at Olivias Cafe was very good having one breakfast and one lunch. Try their Conch Chowder. Waiting staff and bar staff were excellent as well.

The only downside was safe walking access once off the bus. Disney should think about adding some safer pedestrian traffic ways at this resort, especially for younger children.

I would stay again and recommend this resort

Stayed in a one bedroom apartment in building 53. this was a long way from the hospitality area but a frequent bus service (and hire car) meant this wasn't too much of a disadvantage. The nearby pool was being renovated but it didn't make a difference to our enjoyment. The area was quiet and balcony great for having breakfast. The room facilities were excellent. A full kitchen, laundry and living space all clean and in excellent working condition. We loved the American appliances! Mousekeeping was great (bringing an extra blanket within 20 minutes of requesting it). The sofa bed was large enough that the children slept well even though they were sharing. Air-conditioning was efficient and bathrooms excellent (we didn’t find any mould or damp unlike other reviewers). parking was very convenient for your room.
Olivia's was fine to eat at but the 'goods to go' outlet was very limited which is a shame as a food court would have been useful. The very was very small and unattractive

Bus service was excellent with frequent buses to all Disney parks (better than French quarter and other resorts we have stayed at in the past). The boat to Downtown Disney was also frequent-especially in the evenings.
Staff were pleasant and helpful and the shop was useful.
The site is well maintained with lovely gardens and we had a view of the golf course.
A great choice for a family holiday.

Recently stayed at OKW and was very impressed. The resort was very clean and the accomodation spacious. We stayed in a two bedroom villa with two bathrooms, washer dryer full kitchen and three TV's. The transport system was frequent and reliable and the overall ammenities outstanding. Three tennis counts, beach vollyball, bike and boat hire and kids arcade.
We loved it so much we joined the Disney Vacation Club!

I traded a week with RCI to stay here the week of my daughter's 9th birthday. At check in the front desk gave me a few options for a birthday wake-up call for her. The resort is very spread out but this wasn't an issue for us. Our 2 bedroom unit was on the 1st floor in buidling 19. The balcony was surrounded by large plants but I liked it because one of the smaller pools and hot tub was only 40 feet away. The unit was clean and cool when we arrived. We used the dinning plan so I didn't do any cooking while there, but I did check out all the appliances and accessories. All the basics were there and clean. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus. The main pool was great, the kids loved the water slide!

I have nothing bad to say about the resort. Yes I would go back, but I would also like to try some of the other resorts.

The staff was always very helpful.

Other timeshares that I have stayed at in the Orlando area always had the balcony screened in, so, I would really like to know how WDW keeps the area void of mosquitoes. Never had a problem with flying insects!
