I stayed at Old Key West for a week in a two bedroom suite. It was a great stay with nothing to complain about, big bedrooms and bathrooms, nice sized full kitchen and laundry in the suite if your staying for a long time and need to do wash.

The resort has a beautiful pool with a counter service restaurant at it. The food was pretty basic but the service could use some work. The sit down restaurant, Olivia's, was very nice and had good service. There's also a small general store where you can get basic grocery items if you want to have a meal in your room.

This was a lovely resort that I would definitely recommend if you are looking to stay at disney property!

Overall, we enjoyed this resort. We are fairly new DVC members. This is only our 2nd stay at a DVC resort, 1st stay at OKW.

I had checked in online and requested a ground floor room since we have a sit and stand stroller and I had heard that there are no elevators at this resort. Once we arrived, check in was quick, we had a ground floor room, #4410, a studio, just what I had ordered. We were actually pretty close to the bus stop. It was nice.

We were just across the parking lot from the Turtle Shack, which is open from 11am to 5pm. Really, how many of us are at the resort during these hours? Sure, maybe those that are swimming. Not us. So, we had to hump it up to Hospitality House, or drive. We were no where even remotely close to Hospitality House. (The distance is not the problem, the Turtle Shack hours are the problem.) Driving was easier.

Lizards are EVERYWHERE! Including inside my Pack and Play! No wonder my 19 month old woke up screaming. I would too! The bathroom. Everywhere. I am waiting for one to come out of our dirty clothes now that we are home. Watch your step outside, really, everywhere.

One morning, while in the kitchenette, we heard a loud thump and bang and something sound like it was sliding down the wall. We noticed the ceiling fan was wobbling. The metal part of the fan blade had broken and the fan blade had flown over my daughter and hit the corner next to her bed. Had she been sitting up it would have hit her smack in the head. I freaked out and called the front desk. I don't know who I was talking to but she was really nice and I pretty much calmed down immediately.

Most of the staff are friendly. Not all. Some were just not interested in helping you have a magical day. Like the Turtle Shack. Apparently, my husband got there about a minute after close. Even though we thought he had made it on time. Trying to refill 3 mugs. They would not do it because they were closed but he convinced them to help him out. They filled a carafe with Root Beer for one, Coke for the next one and, without rinsing, Sprite for me. I got something that looked and tasted like dirty dishwater. I am not too sure why they were not able to fill the mugs. What's the deal with the carafe? Makes no sense to me at all.

The bus situation is a little different. All stops, except for Hospitality House, have U-turns, making the bus ride through the resort extra long. We did not have too much of a problem with this, we were not on many full loads. Some of the U-turns are through the parking lots of these buildings. I am sure glad I was not staying in one of those rooms.

Quick Service at Hospitality House was limited. There are not too many tables out so we mostly took it back to the room to eat. The food was good though. If you could eat it while it was hot. We did the Quick Service Breakfast here one day. We were there about 2 or 3 minutes before it switched to continental breakfast and they told us to not worry about it, we could order breakfast from the menu. They were helpful.

Community Hall was great! They are so friendly.

There is not much storage in the studio.

All of these things are not deal breakers for us. We still liked the resort as a whole.

On our last day we drove to the resort next door, Saratoga Springs, and had breakfast at their Quick Service Restaurant. Very close, takes no time to get there and well worth it for the quality of the Quick Service area.

Room Tip: Book near Hospitality House if you want better access to the amenities there. If you have a stroll...

We are comparing this to our previous stays at Kidani Village and Bay Lake Tower, both of which are Disney resorts in Orlando. All in all, this is as good, if not better, than both of them. The resort itself is centrally located in Disneyworld, therefore no park or other resort takes long to get to by any of the various means of transport, with the added bonus of a relaxing regular (every 20 mins) free boat shuttle to Downtown Disney. The resort is a massive sprawl of apartment blocks, set among the lake buena vista golf course. It's layout is excellently planned so that you are in fact kept separate from the golfing action, while having a view of it but with privacy, due to the trees. You do not feel surrounded in any way. We had a two bedroom apartment near the main reception area. This was luxurious and VERY spacious. We could have easily stayed in the second bedroom alone, which still came equipped with its own separate shower, ensuite toilet and double sink units, two double beds and two double wardrobes and a television, not to mention a circular table, and two sets of drawers. Then there is the MAIN bedroom with a massive double bed, ensuite jacuzzi bath, toilet and sink, with a further ante room equipped with shower and another sink unit. Separating these two very large sleeping areas is a spacious communal living area and fully equipped kitchen. This area can double up as a sleeping area for three people, with a double sofa bed and a further single sofa bed. We had five in our party and the layout is such that you have plenty of space and privacy to come and go without interfering with each other. The place could happily sleep eight. We effectively were on a self catering holiday, so did not sample the resort restaurants. The kitchen in the apartment is truly home from home, with double fridge freezer, cooker, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. There were minor issues with some equipment not working, but this was quickly rectified with a call to reception. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We used the pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard and table tennis, all of which were very accessible, of a high standard and above all, free.

You really cannot go wrong here! Excellent value for DVC points. It's pricey as a booking for cash through a travel agent, but you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: There are no lifts, so you may want a ground floor room if stairs to the upper two floors are a prob...

We spent our 10 year wedding anniversary in Disney and stayed at OKW resort. While the grounds and room (deluxe suite) were great, I have to say this resort lacks the convenience of your typical Disney resort. We couldn't have gotten a room any further from the hospitality house if we tried and, therefore far from the restaurant, main pool, concierge, etc. We spent a lot if time waiting for buses and never felt the "Disney" vibe at this resort. If you want to be far away from the Disney "feel", then this resort is for you. We stayed at Boardwalk Villas last year and enjoyed our stay so much more.

We stayed for 2 weeks in a 2 bedroom villa. Close to the main enterence, which was very convenient. The Villa was very clean and very spacious. The washer and dryer came in very handy... Staff very friendly. Bus trips to and from the theme parks every ten minutes. This was a DREAM holiday I always wished for. And that dream came true. We will be back next September 2013

Room Tip: Rooms near to the Main enterence were ideal quiet and very centrally situated

We are a family of 4 and stayed in a studio. The room was large and bright and the small kitchenette was very handy. Old Key West is a beautiful resort, immaculate and picturesque. We found the resort very laid back and relaxing and we used the main pool frequently and tried one of the smaller pools as well. Our studio was right beside a bus stop on Turtle Pond and the busses to the parks were very regular, on average we waited no more than 10 minutes. There is also a boat which takes you to Downtown Disney. Cannot fault this wonderful resort and cannot wait to return!!!

We spent 4 days there this last week and the views are soothing, private, large rooms, washer and dryer...just like being home but without the everyday stresses. I highly recommend this resort. The staff was so helpful, always smiling and thought ahead of our comfort and convenience. THIS is why my family goes to Disney!
