We have stayed at this Disney property twice and on both occasions, my family of four had a blast! The rooms were uniquely decorated. We stayed in both a Royal Guest room (our favorite by far) and out in Alligator Bayou. If you have any little princesses in your party, I suggest upgrading to the Royal Guest room with Princesses and Princes on the wall, exotic royal decor and lcd fireworks in your headboard. My 3 year old loved being able to press the button for the fireworks. Port Orleans is connected, by waterway, to Downtown Disney, which is a fun 10-15 min boat ride through the "bayou" to many food options. You can also take the bus to all Disney Parks. We plan on staying here each time. The food is a bit pricey in the morning at the couterservice so if you are staying a few days, I recommend bringing snacks to your room for a quick breakfast or else you'll pay around 35-40 for eggs and waffles. With several pools on property, there is an option for those who want to relax and kids who want to have a fun time with a DJ and pool activities. Every Disney hotel has a nightly movie and most have a campfire.

Room Tip: If you have a large double stroller like we do or just don't like stairs, I suggest getting a ro...

Resort was very nice, better than I had expected. Room was very clean. Resort is very spread out, so be prepared to walk. We were a family of 5 with 3 small children. Our room was at the very edge of the resort so it was a 10 min walk to the Food Court and with the weather in mid 90's (heat and humidity), it was a little tough, otherwise a nice walk. I would book this resort again and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you like morning coffee and you purchase the refillable mug for the length of the trip, request a...

I get to Disney World every 3-4 years, but have only recently been staying at the Disney Resorts. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend it for the quality of the rooms, but also for the convenience.

On arrival we checked in at the central check-in, which is pretty much a large corral designed to handle the large number of crowds. Please remember that everything at Disney goes much smoother if you PLAN AHEAD. Don't just show up with a printed receipt and your hat. Make sure you have all your documentation, receipts, ID, etc. We were checked in quickly and made it to our rooms in about 15 minutes. Enjoy the theming as you go along. Riverside had a great Tom Sawyer/Mississippi River theme to it, all wonderfully done and decorated.

My room was two full beds, and was quite a bit larger than I'd expected. Beds were nice and soft, and had lots of covers. The air conditioning worked great, there were lots of little soaps and shampoos, and a TV with a seemingly endless list of channels all geared to inform me about what was going on at Disney. And ESPN. The room was cleaned every day and towels and sundries were generously replaced. Here's a hint... leave a small amount of money each day for housekeeping. It's courteous and helps in case you need extra sundries or towels.

Wi-fi was free (finally), but was about 1.5 mbs down and some pitiable speed up. If you're wanting to do more than e-mail, use your 4G. But at least they're not charging $15 a day anymore.

The hotel itself had lots of amenities. There was a great pool and play area that younger children will like. There are lots of activities in the evenings if you want to take the night off from a Park. There's a very large restaurant area that takes meal plans if you have one. And there is of course a gift shop. I didn't eat in the restaurant, but I did try their selection of canned fermented malt beverages. Overpriced, yes, so make sure to BYOB to the hotel. As was to be expected, everything was clean and well-kept.

Now to the meat of the reason for staying on-site: Benefits. Since we were on-site we were able to book fast passes a month in advance, which was advantageous since we went in June. In addition, buses ran to all the parks every 5-15 minutes. They tell you 10 but depending on which resort it differs. Never had to wait long. We were able to get to parks earlier or stay longer (Extra Magic Hours). And we didn't pay for parking, so make sure to factor that in. Parking is... really expensive. $17 a day or so. When looking at off-site hotels, make sure you keep that number in mind. Also keep in mind that if you drive your own car you park at the ticketing center, which is NOT at a park. You still have to ride the monorail to the parks. You're going to save about an hour each day by not driving.

Overall, you're going to pay a bit more for being on-site, but you'll save hours and a lot of money by just parking the car the first day you get there and letting DIsney do all the work.

Room Tip: Look online to see which rooms have recently been remodeled. Each resort goes through remodeling pha...

We just returned from a few days spent at Port Orleans Riverside resort in Disney. Although nice, clean and with friendly staff, we were disappointed by a few things.

The Bad: Upon our arrival we had a few bags of luggage with us. My husband asked the staff in the front about our luggage being taken to our room, as it's done at even the cheapest hotels. The guy looked at us like we had two heads and that he had never heard such a request. He then said that they'd take it but we had to wait for them for 15 minutes outside at the front entrance and that they'd follow us to our room (where we had to drive to) as they can't bring luggage in a room unless the guest is there. It seemed so foolish that we just ended up bringing our own luggage to the room. Not the type of service you'd expect from a four star Disney resort.
Then the food: the food at the on-site cafeteria is pretty bad. We got the breakfast platter and the food was cold and very bland.
The Experience: When I called to book this vacation I had originally wanted to book our stay at Wilderness Lodge. The rep suggested Port Orleans Riverside, saying it was very nice but a bit cheaper. She told me that this "was Tiana's resort" and that it resembled the Princess and the Frog movie. Although the resort has a New Orleans atmosphere, in no way, shape or form does it have anything that resembles Tiana or the Princess and the Frog...other than a painting of the alligator in the movie where the Murphy bed was in our room. By her description, we understood that there would be something more for our girls to experience or see that would remind them of the movie. But nothing. They were a little disappointed about that.
The Room: We stayed in cabins 26, and although the room is nicely decorated it is pretty small. We had two Queen size beds and barely any room to walk in. I suppose this isn't a huge problem since you go to Disney to do things such as the parks, etc. The biggest annoyance with the rooms was just how LOUD it was there at night. The a/c unit, which can be heard in any hotel room, was unusually noisy, even when the A/C was turned down, the motor was so loud I could barely fall asleep. Same goes for hearing people's toilet flushing all hours of the night from the rooms next door and the ones upstairs. It sounded like a jet was taking off all night long.

The Good: The staff if friendly and very helpful. No complaints there. The property is meticulously kept and just beautiful. You have a great view of wildlife and the river and it's spectacular to walk around the resort at sunset.
The main pool is very nice and quite large and the kids had a blast there. There are a ton of lifeguards there for parents' peace of mind. The main pool also has a bar and the service is pretty fast.
The French Quarter is very nice and we even went to the pool there, since as a guest at Port Orleans you may do so. We ate beignets at the local bakery and they were pretty good.
You can book a horse pulled carriage ride there and it was very nice especially since you have a chance to tour the outside of the resort and really take in the beauty of it.

Overall we had a nice, average experience but I don't think we'd spend the money to return there again, instead will check out different resorts.

The room was standard. Nice place to sleep. The A/C worked well and kept the room from being stuffy. The grounds were keep up very well. We enjoyed the landscaping while walking to our room. The river was nice and clean. Took the riverboat to Downtown Disney, that was fun.
The staff was friendly. The cafeteria had good food and was kept clean. The pool had towels, two life guards, a slide for the kids... and a bar for us! We definitely recommend Port Orleans-Riverside.

We recently returned from a combo cruise/disneyworld vacation with our family. Two teens, one eleven year old boy and my husband and I. We stayed here and our room was ok. It was snug but we did have 5 of us. The grounds, the pool ect was very nice and well kept. The food court was nice and they seemed to really try and keep people moving. The magic bands worked great on the rooms but did cause a delay in lines due to all of the questions regarding disney dining ect. Our actual room during our 3 day stay was only serviced once but we were so tired when we returned from the parks that we didn't complain. Check out and check in was very easy and super quick.

When I went to the Port Orleans Riverside Hotel, I did a great research, because I was looking for an non expensive hotel but a great one, and I was interested that the hotel would be in Disney. With this features, I chose this one, and the vacations days were very good. The room for 3 people was fine, with all the things you need, the A/C working well too. No problems. If you go here, I recommend you to have a car, or rent one, because is more usefuel when you have to go to the parks.
Another point I must remark is the environment, there is a beautiful nature space around the hotel.
The pool was ok too, very good for the kids.

Room Tip: Chose the room close to the pool, if you don't do this, you will have to walk a lot.
