“Good base from which to have the time of our lives”

We arrived after a long flight from the UK, We checked onto the Disney Express at the airport, which was a brilliant start to our holiday. After a bit we were dropped off at the hotel to be greeted by wonderful staff, very friendly and attentive. We were here for two weeks.
We didn't realise till later, but the check in guy managed to mess up our Disney passes, however, the staff in Disney Magic Kingdom (our first park of the holiday) sorted it all out after a few calls etc, a massive thank you to them.
Rooms were lovely, ours was in Alligator Bayou, so themed to suit. Temp was always good.
Didn't actually sit in the bar, but they were supplied with nightly entertainment in the good old Orleans way, and were always in full voice, having a fabulous time.
The restaurant was very simple once you did the original reccy on our first day. Portions always huge, but good fresh food made to order, so be prepared for a little delay, all self serve - but not buffet style.
Travel to and fro to the parks was very easy, either via the Disney buses, or to Downtown Disney via the river taxi.
Overall, it was a lovely place to come back to at the end of a very exciting and tiring day in the parks, would recommend to both couples and families.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view, they are slightly away from any noise from the pools.

We recently spent four days at Port Orleans in early August. While property itself is beautiful and outstanding, the staff is very inadequate. On multiple occasions, either via the boat launch to Downtown Disney or in the Riverside Mill food court, the staffing was very poor. Disney simply did not have enough staff on handle the folks staying at the resort. This is easily knowable and fixable. The wait for dinner at the Mill any given night was 20 minutes to get your food and then another 15-20 to get through the cashier. Again, the resort itself is lovely and the rooms are great. The pool area is fun and the marshmallow roasting was well done too. My kids also especially like the small playground located near the pool. All that is needed is for Disney to spend a few extra dollars and hire more staff when they know the resort will be full.

We visited this resort with my parents, who were visiting from overseas. We had adjoining rooms for a week. The resort is beautiful, it is spread out, with lots of places to go for walks around the river. There are two pools, one with a kid pool area. The food at the dining hall is decent, my daughter's favourite part of breakfast was the song the employees danced too! The resort is conveniently located- you can get a boat or a bus to Downtown Disney and buses to all the parks. The buses run regularly, with waits of no more than 15 minutes. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I am actually still here for one more night, but felt I needed to write my review now. My mother, my 5 year old twins and myself are staying in the Acadia section. We arrived at Orlando airport and used the magical express...not so express. We waited in line for about 40 minutes. Once on the bus, Riverside was the last stop of many. The only good thing was that we didnt have to carry our luggage. We arrived, had done the online check in and our room was ready early. Off to a great start. Our room was overlooking a quiet pool and was hot. The fridge wasnt working due to a recall and they basically told me that there were none to give me to use for my special needs son.(not good) Ok, thought the air would click on....wrong. Maintenence came quick to repair it and then said that we needed a whole new system and couldn't promise it would get fixed that night...oh, and we were still waiting for our luggage 4 hours later. Called the front desk to ask for another room. Our room was changed to another building. In the meantime, our luggage arrived and nobody offered to help us move it to the new room. New room was great, air working, fridge working, everything was great. The room itself was fine and clean. The shower is just awful with only one steady stream of water. Not sure if I get all the shampoo out. Anyway, the food court food is fine and expensive. The staff is rude and the set up of it does not work. 20 minute wait for a burger, fries not done with another 20 min wait, child menu consists of a fish sandwich...weird, coffee brewed in one area by drinks and then moved to another area of the room, without notice. Refillable cups were a great purchase. The transportation system was slow. We never waited to get on from the resort, but from downtown disney and hollywood studios we had a wait. Other resorts had bus after bus and we constantly wished the next bus would be ours. Did I mention this was apparently the hottest week FLA has had all year? The walk is a bit long to the food, main pool, etc. but didn't bother us. We tried to take the boat downtown but after waiting without any boats in sight with a long line, I couldnt wait much more. I don't think I would return here and will splurge for a different hotel next time. It just surprises me that so many people say the same thing, have the same complaints and nothing gets done to make the experience smooth. One more thing..many parents don't watch their kids in the pools or care how they behave around others.

Just got back from Disney after staying at the Port Orleans Riverside for 6 days. Our family had a great time and loved the resort. It is very spread out, but my family loves to walk so no problems. Our 15 and 11 year olds loved the main pool as well as the quiet pool by our building which was in the Magnolia part of the complex. Staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Buses were superb. The longest we had to wait for a bus was 15 minutes, which in my opinion is nothing. Great time had by all.

We have just returned from a 2week holiday here, From the very beginning we (9 of us) where treated very special, our luggage taken to oue room, and we ourselves where driven round. The rooms where large, and had all we needed (but we didnt get the fridge working until the 2nd week).Little toiletries of Mickey Mouse where left each day, and towels similarly arranged. A lovely touch, especially for the children. The main dining hall was busy , but we always managed to eat together, quite a lot of choice of food, but the main restaurant" The Boatyard" was superb, the food excellent. Tip-- if you buy the Disney Dining Plan, upgrade it to a Table Service each day. This enables you to eat at other hotels in wonderful surroundings. Back to Port Orleans, we had close access to 2 pools, and they where great, open till midnight, and a super spa pool. Our grandchildren went swimming in the evening, after very exhausting days. The extra bonus of Port Orleans, was the boat that took us to Downtown Disney daily.A lovely relaxing ride. We all had a great time, and a ALL the staff where happy and polite.

Room Tip: Magnolia Terrace, as its nearer to the lobby and pools

My spouse had the bright idea of trusting the hotel & magic express with our luggage ! Very Bad idea. Don't do it, I don't care what they promise. Our luggage went MIA about 6 hours ago. They cannot seem to understand why we were annoyed & out right angry. We have two small children who are sleeping in their clothes ... And Pam, at the front desk wanted to know why I was being mean to her. Are you kidding me ??? At present it is 11:10p and we arrived at 5:15p today we still do not have our luggage. They keep telling us it's in transit and now it's here just waiting for an available bell boy to bring it to the room is what I was told 10 mins ago. Not a soul seems to care about the major inconvenience this has caused my family. Additionally while the dining hall, my 7 yr old son was standing by the cooler and an employee arguing with another employee about how to stock the cooler. Well the got angry with the other, and flings the door to cooler .Wham, my son is hit in the face. My husband talks to the manager Michelle... she brings over a rubber glove filled with ice, states a report will be made that she will have no access to, gives us a coupon for ice cream & tells us they can get emergency medical care but if we transport in an ambulance (btw we do not have a car) thats at our own expense...because its the way our country works ! WTF ...One of us is being ridiculous !!!
