“Great (Although Pricey!) Hotel, Ideal Location”
Reviewed October 17, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the Hard Rock hotel for four nights in October 2013. We were a family of five and booked a Deluxe Queen room. The room was very large - definitely enough room for all of us. The sleeper sofa had plenty of room around it. The beds were comfortable and there was a great changing area tucked in by the closet and make-up table. The bathroom was a great set-up, with a second sink outside of the shower area so that if someone was using he bathroom, others could still be getting ready.

The hotel itself is huge - our room was a decent hike from the lobby. The walls aren't exactly sound-proof either - we could definitely hear people walking past in the hallway.

The location of the hotel is great for families planning on spending time at either of the Universal Parks. It's a ten minute walk or a five minute boat ride to City Walk.

The best bonuses were the early entry and the express passes that came with our packages. Definitely worth the extra cost of staying at the onsite hotels!

We have stayed at this hotel many many times and it is our favorite family hotel in Orlando. It is loud and action packed for if you are looking for a quiet relaxing place to read a book and relax you can do that here but not optimal. The breakfast buffet and poolside food is very good to ok. The ice cream shop on location is unreal. The pool is one of the best in Orlando and kids always have a blast, and there is typically a band or movie playing. It is right next to Universal Studios so you can walk, and the hotel fast pass is the deal sealer. The staff have always been pleasant and we have never had a problem, even with the"explosive throw up" incident of 2010. The rooms are getting a bit dated and I believe that is is scheduled for or under renovation. If so get the updated rooms as soon as they are available. It is simply the best family hotel in Orlando. (especially if you are a loud family like us)

Room Tip: Get a renovated room.

Stayed here for 1 week at the beginning of October for HHN. We had a great time and loved being on the doorstep to the parks. We had stayed at a Disney resort and o us that was the superior hotel out of the two, but distance between the Hard Rock and the parks was worth it's weight in gold for us. The room was great, two beds (really comfy) and an easy to use coffee machine. Check-in was smooth as was check out. we had a garden view room on the 2nd floor not to far from the lobby which was good for us what with all the walking we had been doing. We loved the hotel and glad of the perks, that 1 hour early into HP is great as we could get loads of good photo's and see everything we wanted to before the crowds hit. All in all a great stay and we will definitely be back. Ps eat at the palm if you want a good steak! Me and my partner love steak and this was our favourite restaurant over the 2 weeks in total we where there, pricey but well worth it!

My husband and myself stayed here after our wedding in November and the whole hotel was amazing! They treated us like "Rock Stars"! The room was perfect, nothing to complain about at all.

We went our for dinner at the evening and came back to a bottle of champagne and chocolates in our room from the hotel.

We had the buffet breakfast the next day and there was so much to choose from along with the chef stations making omlettes etc as you wanted them.

It was the most fantastic time and we will definitely be going again!

We had wanted to visit for Halloween Horror Nights for years and finally had the opportunity to do so this year. We booked the family suite for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was very spacious and comfortable with 2 bedrooms, 1-3/4 baths, 1 king bed, 2 twin beds, a large walk-in closet, in room safe, Keurig coffee maker and 2 flat screen televisions. The room was very clean and well maintained and the beds were very comfortable. Housekeeping was good and the rooms were properly cleaned each morning. The pool was excellent with plenty of seating and towels available. The Beach Club was nice and we enjoyed the poolside movie the one night the parks all closed at 8:00 during our stay. In exploring the hotel we noticed some floors seemed to have been refreshed recently or better cleaned and maintained. Our room was on the 2nd floor which was one of the nice floors that seemed cleaner and better maintained. We loved the convenience of going back and forth from the hotel to the parks by either walking or riding the boats. The unlimited Express Pass for the parks was a significant benefit. It was great to let the teens sleep in while we got off to an early start in the parks without having to make them get up and go with us. Emack and Bolio's is a great place for a quick breakfast, a snack, pizza or ice cream at a reasonable price. On the down side though this property is pricey with extra charges everywhere you turn. Having been to Orlando and the Universal parks many times over the years we always wanted to stay here and were glad we finally did. Since this trip was strictly for HHN23 and only visiting the Universal parks on a 3 night trip it was perfect but our usual visits involve Disney and other entertainment options so we would not likely ever stay here again as other less costly options are readily available.

We stayed in early October for 3 nights as we were going to the Universal Parks. At check in, we were offered an 'upgrade' to a room with a King Bed. They said they would bring in roll-a-ways for the kids for no charge. We agreed but when we got to the room it was a hospitality suite and the king bed was a fold out! We went back and requested a regular room, which we were given with a beautiful pool view. The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. We liked the fact their were 2 sinks.

Layout of the hotel is odd. There is 1 bank of elevators at the far end. Our room was all they way on the other end and the stairwell was marked emergency only. So we had to walk down 3 hallways to get to the elevator. The access to the self parking is also a significant walk. The easiest route to the path to the park, runs though the pool and is not open in the early morning.

We were disappointed with the $18 daily for self-park, no free wifi in the rooms and no fridge. Given the price we were paying, it seems like all of these should have been free. Having said that, the nearness to the park, express pass and early admission are awesome. Basically they would be the reason we would stay here again. We had a very early dinner in The Kitchen and were disappointed with the limited menu from 3-5. We would have gotten room service but were turned off by the $3.00 per order fee plus 22% service fee.

The pool was very nice. The kids loved the slide.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as part of a large group.
The hotel itself doesn't look like anything different as you drive up to it, apart from the guitar fountain which is lit up as it gets dark. The lobby is where you really get a feel for the hotel with the musical antiques in display cabinets. There are a good number of check in desks which was able to hand the large number of us arriving at the same time. There is a separate desk for tickets and concierge for guests who are already checked in. From the lobby there is also the Hard Rock shop and the velvet room, the cocktail bar. The music costumes and theme continues into the corridors and music is played as you ride the lift, there's a great atmosphere throughout the hotel and the people at work really fit the feel.
Our room was a good size, what you'd expect. But the musical theme continues. Our room had a Beatles theme with black and white photos around. Whilst you can't forget where you are, the theme isn't over bearing, it's subtle. There are lovely little touches such as the hard Rock plectrums that they left on the bed sides as part of the turn down and leaving the TV on a music channel for when you get in at night.
The only downside to the room was the bathroom. It could have been cleaner and a little neater but that's really picky.
We ate breakfast in The Kitchen, a really good American breakfast buffet with anything you could possibly want to eat. We had our breakfast included so I'm not sure what it would cost but however much it is, it would be worth the money. The guys serving coffee and juice were really welcoming too which is much appreciated before a busy day.
Aside from the fact that this hotel is beautiful and noone could do enough to help, the absolute best bit about this hotel is the location. It's about a 5 minute walk to universal studios and the citywalk or if that's too far for you to manage our you've enjoyed a few too many cocktails then there is a water taxi to take you direct to the hotel (it will take longer than walking though).
