“Fun atmosphere, awesome location...but a little loud”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

I stayed at this hotel when I was in town for a conference at the Orlando convention center. I am really glad I stayed at this hotel because it was definitely a fun place to be. The pool is awesome with plenty of chairs for lounging in the sun. It's kind of shallow, so dont' expect to do any real swimming. There's a water slide which is pretty fun, too. You can rent a cabana for a whole day and they are pretty reasonably priced. We ended up renting one, but our stay in the cabana was short-lived because of lightning in the area. Boo. Would have been nice to get a refund of some sort considering we paid for the whole day and were forced to leave for several hours. The music at the pool is blaring loud as well. During the day, they have an actual musician playing out on the patio, which I really enjoyed.

The rooms were plenty big and spacious. Very clean. Amazing water pressure. The only issue with the rooms was the noise. You can hear people in the hallway, the room next to you, and the room above you like there was nothing. It was especially annoying in the mornings when the cleaning staff would park their cart in the hallway and talk and laugh when I was trying to sleep! And one morning, someone was playing their clarinet at like 9 in the morning. Other than the noisy cleaning staff, the staff at the Hard Rock were super nice and friendly. They are pretty conscious about saying hi to you whenever you pass someone in the hallway, and it is definitely a nice thing to do.

At first when I got there, I was put in a room on the 1st floor ALL the way at the end of the hall. The internet didn't even work in there! I called the front desk and they sent someone to meet me at a different room down the hall with keys, so luckily I was able to get a room with working internet.

The location is super close to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure and the Citywalk. Was really nice to sneak off in the afternoons to Universal Studios and you get a free express pass when you stay as a guest at the Hard Rock. Definitely worth it!! If I was going to stay in Orlando and plan a trip to Universal area again, I would definitely come back but would maybe request to be on a different floor or even see if I could get in the skyclub!

Room Tip: Don't stay on the first floor!

We stayed at the Hard Rock for 2 weeks from the 3rd May 2013. Please do not believe any of the negative press of this hotel. We have stayed at various hotels ranging from 3 to 5 star and yes, whilst the rooms aren't luxury, they are the best we have stayed in Orlando and were very very comfortable for our 2 week stay. The seperate bathroom to the vanity section was very useful. The beds I found to be very comfortable and even the pillows were great. We thought initially that you had to pay for the coffee and tea that came next to the kettle but these are in fact free. Its only the drinks in the fridge that you have to pay for. The hotel reception staff are very helpful and check in and out was very easy and pleasant. We only ate once in the kitchen restaurant but only because we like to eat out in the different restaurants. Prices were what you would expect in any restaurant and the food was lovely. Try the ice creams from the cafe area downstairs. They are delicious. The pool area is brilliant and the movies at night are just fantastic. Such a great end to a busy day. We upgraded to the club level floor for the last 6 days. I would def recommend this. The breakfast is great and the food and drink throughout the day and evening is well worth the extra. We also loved the close proximity to the parks and City Walk. It was literally a 5-10 min walk and the boats are great fro getting there and back. The customer service for this hotel showed how good it was when we departed from the hotel. We were a few miles away from Sanford airport only to realise we had left a bag in our room full of our Ipads and Iphones. We called the hotel straight away and a gentleman called Andrew on reception located our bag and requested a driver from the hotel deliver it to Sanford airport and meet us there with the bag all free of charge. Now, how many hotels would go to these lengths.
All in all, I would def recommend this hotel and we will most def be returning soon.

Room Tip: Upgrade to club level and request a pool view.

Just spent our 1st week of 2 at this great hotel.
We opted to upgrade to the "club7" level.
Well worth the extra, free food, drinks & snacks all day. [even alcohol at night & champagne cocktails for brekkie]
Big Joe is the boss man in the club 7 lounge & what he doesn't know about the hotel & surrounding area is not worth knowing, lots of discounts, hints & generally an all round helpful guy.
Can't just stop at Joe , the maids are excellent, as are Joe's staff, the concierge, pool helpers & the rest of the Hard Rock gang.
Eaten at the restaurants a couple of times, a bit pricey, but club 7 makes up for that.
Rooms are very comfortable, bed's great, view over the pool phenomenal.
Would recommend it & will return...Remember club 7 & Big Joe make it all worth while

Room Tip: has to be 7th floor, club 7

The parking is quite expensive: 20/day! It should be free of charge. The breakfast is quite expensive also: almost 50/2persons. It shoud be included in room price. The Internet is free only in the common area.

The Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando is perfectly located for visiting the two Universal theme parks, in addition to the Universal CityWalk. The hotel is of course very nice and stylish; you find the typical Hard Rock morabilia style everywhere. The room, we had a standard one, was clean and practical; but nothing over the top. The pool area and hotel exterior was nice. Breakfast was great, probably the only thing that really blew our mind with this resort. Complimentary water taxis will bring you to the theme parks; it's about a 10 minute walk.

At more than $350 a night; we expected even more. In retrospect we were glad we only stayed here for one night just to get the experience, in addition to the location close to the Universal parks. Mind you, it's really good, but not as fantastic as one would expect.

I have stayed at the Hard Rock just about 10 times. It's pricey, about 400 per night. However you can NOT beat the location. Just a short walk, 5, minutes, or the hotel offers a water taxi , right to the front gates of Universal Studios of Florida. City walk a fantastic tiny city of night clubs and restaurants is right next door.. Enjoy dancing, a few drinks and WALK or take the boat back to your room.... LOVED IT !!!
The hotel ammenity I enjoy the most beside a fun and fantastic beach/pool area complete with HUGE WATER SLIDE and Tiki bar... If you are going to Universal Studios amusement parks, you DO NOT have to wait in the long long ride lines... Nope.. They have a special spot for hotel customers and you get on every ride within three minutes... Fantasic...

Room Tip: deluxe rooms are 500 SQ ft.. very roomy..

We stayed at this hotel for the proximity to the parks; we booked an AAA package from the Universal web site,
First off we were greeted quite abruptly and not even told or given a map of the resort. We found all the restaurants and water taxis on our own. The people who work there are professional but not very service friendly. I never heard a thank you or any gesture from the front desk staff. When you arrive at a location especially of this caliber the guest should be wowed. First Impressions are lasting!! We are just told to get our tickets at the kiosk. The fast pass which is a nice perk but the hotels has a lot of amenities that were not covered with us... They should help you with this. The rooms are basic. The hotel floors are set up like a maze with no signage to the elevators but they were clean. The pool was nice and the buffet and parking pricey. They seem to nickel and dime you all the way. Add a star for the location only but save your money and stay near the park. there are plenty of options that are better value. Not worth it at all.
