“Hard rock ROCKS!”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

We stayed at universal studios Hard Rock hotel with our teenage son, from the moment we entered the lobby and saw the. Drum kit reception as well as. Driving up the driveway and looking at the fountain made of twits of guitars we knew we were in for a great holiday.
We also got early acess to parks and used the boat transportation from hotel to main parks
Which was fun.We also ate atHardRock both in hotel and resturaunt on the Park,we also got tickets for BLUEMAN GROUP and HALLWEEN HORROR NIGHTS scary stuff but great fun and we could indulge in a few cocktails as no driving just hopped onto the boat back togas rock hotel and comfy super king size beds. The pool and cabanas area is good also underwater rock music pumped into pool was a bit different. We had a great time here and would come again !

Room Tip: Overlooking pool higher floor

Great staff that always greets you with a smile and will help you with anything. Very clean hotel and grounds. Good food, just a little pricey drinks. Warm pool and nice pool service. Very, very close to parks and City Walk. We loved it and would definately return.

My daughter and I recently spent four nights here. The property lives up to it"s advertised billing. Great location, clean spacious rooms, rock memorabilia, beautifully landscaped grounds and an absolutely gorgeous pool area, replete with live ducks.

The only downside as you might imagine, is cost. Everything is overpriced : from the room, to self parking, to food from all hotel outlets, to drinks by the pool ( how does $ 14 per sound to you ?). I had just returned from a cruise and was used to, and expecting to be gouged for drinks, but this place was beyond ridiculous. I limited my drinking to my room, thereby avoiding the necesssity of a third mortgage.

The pluses were the location, and the inclusion of an "Express Pass", for avoiding the long lines at the theme park rides....very worthwhile.

If your credit card is in good shape, this place is a good choice.

The pool area is fantastic. Restaurants are a bit price, but tasty. Rooms are comfortable, but the beds had a foam topper which has an odor. Not horrible, but not nice smelling. Was there on business, and facilities were very good. Did not got to Universal, but water taxi service sounded great.

Room Tip: Ask for a room closer to the elevator if you don't like to walk, because elevators are at one en...

Stayed there many times but the last time I took the suite that is just great, bonus is club level with free drinks and bites at happy hour and donuts and coffee in the am. Walk to parks and fastpass included. They have a guy on a bike that will bring you to the hotel from the parks to the hotel and back, always fun, but make sure you tip him!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the water, easier to catch the water taxi!

My family of four stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Orlando for 3 nights near the end of January/13, as recommended by a friend. We had a great experience! The hotel is a very short and pleasant walk from both Universal parks. The two parks are about a 2 minute walk from one another. By staying at the Hard Rock we received earlier admittance to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (1 hr before the gate opened to the general public) as well as Universal Express passes which let us go to the front of the line for most park rides (does not apply to a small number of rides). We took advantage of the early admittance to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on a Friday morning and on a Sunday morning. Maybe it was a quieter time of year to be visiting the park but there was hardly anyone there when we arrived shortly after 8 am. It was GREAT! We were able to take a lot of pictures of the Harry Potter buildings, etc. and it looked like we had the whole area to ourselves. There was no wait for the rides at this time either. When we went back to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on Saturday afternoon, the line up for the Harry Potter rides were one hour long for one ride and 45 minutes long for another. We didn't wait, just went back the next morning at 8am when there was hardly anyone there. The Express passes are great! It's so nice to bypass the line (although at this time of year we found the line ups weren't too long). We did notice that the Express passes are also available for sale at the parks, if you do not stay at an on site hotel.

The Hard Rock has a large pool with a water slide that our children (ages 6 and 8) really enjoyed.

We dined at one of their restaurants called 'The Kitchen' for two dinners and one breakfast. On Friday night a magician visits each table and performs a few tricks which was fun to watch. On Saturday night a few characters visit each table and give autographs and pose for pictures. We saw Homer and Bart Simpson. The food was quite good. If you have breakfast prior to 9am, children can have the full buffet breakfast for only $5. The buffet breakfast was quite extensive and had everything you could possibly want for breakfast.

The hotel is about a 20 minute cab ride from the Orlando airport so we didn't worry about renting a car during our 3 day stay there. I believe you have to pay a nightly rate to park your car at the hotel.

We stayed in a Deluxe Queen Room facing the pool. The room had 2 queen size beds and a pull out sofa bed. It was a good sized room for a family of four. Rock and roll music is played outside around the pool area until 10pm each night. If you go to bed before then and don't want to hear the music through your room window you may want to request a room that does not face the pool.

We will definitely stay at the Hard Rock again next time we visit Universal Studios.

Had a standard view double queen room which was nice enough. You can certainly find rooms just as nice for a lot less, but since the Express Pass for the Universal parks is included in the room price it was a good deal for us as a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. It's a 5 minute walk to Universal Studios and about a 10 minute walk to Islands of adventure. Since we were going to the parks the location was great. If planning to attend the parks I would definitely stay here again. We've stayed at the Portofino, but you really have to take the water taxi to the parks if staying there and sometimes they seem to run less frequently than I would like. Staff here was very friendly and helpful. Only thing that annoyed me is that they charge $18 a night for parking. That's pretty unreasonable given the cost of the room. No Disney resorts or off site resorts I've stayed at has ever charged for parking. All the Universal resorts charge for parking and it always annoys me, but not enough to keep me from staying there again as the location and the Express Pass makes the say worthwhile. You can also get into the parks an hour before they open to the general public so that's also a nice perk.
