Whoever you are, reading this, you will love this place. It's cool, it can be relaxing (nice big pool area and gorgeously upkept grounds, lovely rooms with iPod docking stations for your favourite tunes) or splendidly over the top. You choose. Staff are fantastic. So close to Universal it's quicker to walk there, throught the tropical greenery, or be well lazy and take a boat. Bar staff are brilliant. We have no quibble at all with this place. I would live there (if there were balconies to the rooms, which there aren't). Except for the pool lockdown policy when thunderstorms are nearby. Why???? I'm no scientist but my husband knows a thing or two. Are you likely to get struck if swimming in the poolwater and not remotely earthed??? Hmmm.

Room Tip: I'll be they're all wonderul. Chill. Don't worryl

My partner and I stayed in the Hard Rock Hotel from 1st May 2012-11th May 2012 travelling from Northern Ireland. After a long and tiring couple of flights we eventually found our way there and we're impressed at the beautiful exterior and gardens to say the least. After parking the car we had two options; walk the long way round to reception with our luggage (on a flat road) OR attempt to haul it up quite a long flight of stairs. We chose the stairs. An outdoor elevator or escalator would be beneficial here. We were then checked in by a young man named corey, who i have to say, wasn't the most plesant of people i had met all day. He didn't tell us anything about the hotel or area, didn't explain our room keys acted as an express pass for the universal parks, didn't even tell us the direction in which to get to our room. So, my first impressions weren't initally great. The bedroom was beautiful, decorated in lime and chocolate colours. All amenities present; large tv, 2 queen size beds, wonderful garden view, safe, hairdryer, keurig coffee maker..the bathroom was also ver nice, although the showers may need replacing in the near future. Our mini bar wouldn't open, door appeared to be locked and the windows wouldn't open. Although this wasn't really a problem as the a/c worked fine. All other staff i came across in the hotel over my 10 night stay were lovely, friendly and had a 'can't do enough for you' sort of attitude. I must particularly mention Kyle who worked at the pool bar, one of the nicest people i had the pleasure of meeting in my time there. Absolutely brilliant in every way, always remembered us when we came down for a drink each night, and even bought me a drink once!! Megadeath were also drinking in the pool bar one night! Pool area is well kept, although the pool itself was not deeper that about 4ft. We ate in the kitchen restaurant a few times, and the food was delicious and resonably priced for what you get. They also do wonderful cocktails. The express pass and hour early entry into the parks are brilliant. The water taxi's to citywalk are a beautiful way to travel, really makes it feel very special. Although it's only a 3 min walk away. You can also have a free rickshaw ride from hotel to citywalk (excluding tip of course) The only major gripes i had with this hotel (and my reasons for not giving it 5/5) is that you have to pay $18 a night to park your car AND you also have to pay $10 a day for usage of the gym. As a paying guest i firmly believe both thses things should be included in the price. Wireless internet is also onky free in the lobby, there is a charge for room useage. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when i visit orlando again, it really felt like home to us for the 10 days we were there and we now have such special memories of our holiday thats to the hard rock orlando!

Room Tip: Rooms aren't very soundprrofed, can hear alot of noise from people walking up and down corridors...

We stayed a week at the grand Floridian to visit Disney then the second week at the hard rock hotel to visit universal. The location is great to get to the park ( Harry Potter) early. It's a very easy walk on a pretty path that winds along the water. The hotel was very busy, lots of music everywhere. Be prepared for a noise factor. The pool gets very crowded. We had adjoining rooms with 3 generations of family. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable,, but looked somewhat dated. The food was adequate, no worse than the grand Floridian. The best thing about the hotel is its location.

If you are doing Universal and want to get in to see Harry Potter, you need to stay on the grounds if you can. The crowds are still so huge at Harry Potter that the hour advance entry saves (literally) hours later in the day. It is pricey - no question, but really very handy. Being within about 10 minute walk of the park allows you to get in early, take a break - spend some time at the great pool and go back later in the day when the crowds thin a bit. This was a big splurge for us but it was just a Fabulous place in every sense.

This was our second stay at Hard Rock Orlando. The staff at the Hard Rock really make this hotel, they are so genuinely friendly and helpful, real people who want to ensure you have a great stay, with great humor. I find the Disney customer service a bit forced, fake or sickly sweet. This place really suits our style, laid back never crowded like a Disney resort. We stayed for two weeks in two adjoining rooms. We opted for the bed and breakfast rate for this stay. On our previous stay we went concierge, we found the bed and breakfast rate better value than the concierge benefits. We love to have a good breakfast and the buffet in the Kitchen does not disappoint, beats any breakfast at Disney hands down. Urgh the nightmare memories of the crowded breakfasts at the Disney hotels and the noise. Breakfast kept us going all day and then we would enjoy an early dinner in the parks or Citywalk, we only bought a small lunch twice during our stay, this saved us a lot of money. This is a luxury hotel and as with all hotels of this category you pay for parking, internet and the drink prices are a premium. However, if you join the Hard Rock All Access program before your stay you can get free internet. The rooms are comfortable and the housekeeping was excellent. However, if I was going to stay for this length of time again I would get a deluxe room or family suite just to have a little more room. The Hard Rock has the shortest walk to the Universal parks, it is so easy, we did not use the boat or bus. At first I was disapointed with our room location as it was a long way from the elevators. We were on the second floor in a garden view room, then we discovered that we were very near the exit stairs right by the pool entrance and shortcut path to the parks! Great location, down one flight of stairs and on our way to the park, or we could be in the pool in under a minute! The room location was also very quiet, the rooms near the elevators get a lot of foot traffic and must get the associated voices at all hours. We loved the pool and the evening movies by the pool, the movie screen could be a bit bigger though. The food from the beach club at the pool was excellent, while a lot of it is standard bar food, each item was super tasty, fresh, and cooked well. The burgers were huge. We only had dinner at the Kitchen on one occasion and everyone enjoyed their meal, loved the shrimp tacos. If you price out a stay at a Disney deluxe hotel and the Hard Rock, the Hard Rocks beats Disney on price and in my mind service, you cannot compare this to a Disney value or moderate resort. Loved the unlimited Express Pass perk in the Universal parks too. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Quiet, garden view room near the path to the parks

We have stayed at the Hard Rock twice before and it is our preferred hotel in Orlando. The complaints that previous reviewers have are legitimate. The hotel does nickel and dime the guests. How much does it actually cost for the hotel to offer free internet, seriously. This visit, we splurged and stayed in a club level room. We didn't feel that the value was there..... we missed out on beer and wine which is served from 5-7.... then we missed out on milk and cookies.... served during our dinner hour..... so frustrating. The location can't be beat, the turn down service is creative and the linens and beds perfection. Would recommend without hesitation.

Room Tip: I wouldn't recommend paying the extra money for the club level rooms....

In June we stayed at The Hard Rock Hotel at Universal. We had two adjoining rooms and stayed on the concierge floor. They did such a good job of providing sodas/water, breakfast, afternnoon snacks, happy hour and evening snacks. It was just right.

The hotel itself was perfect - the staff was terrific - our rooms were clean. The pool was fun - one day we rented a cabana and that was great and relaxing.

I would highly recommend staying at this hotel if you are going to visit Universal Studios. I couldn't ask for a better location to the parks and I have absolutely no complaints about the hotel. A great trip!
