“Outstanding visit to RPR”
Reviewed August 21, 2014

My son and I took a 3 night visit to Orlando with Universal Studios/IOA being our main focus. We decided to stay at the Royal Pacific due to location and express pass availability. The room we had was in Tower One (1225) which was located at the very end of a hallway. This was a great location for easy access to pool and pathway to the parks. It was also very quiet. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean. Our rooms were cleaned everyday while we were at the parks. New coffee was left and the room was spotless. Having the option to enter the parks one hour before the general public was necessary for visiting the Harry Potter section of each of the parks. Be aware that the express pass is not accepted in this area. Even having just resort guests here at that time still creates quite a crowd!
The pool is very nice at the resort. I watched as the recreation staff entertained the children (and some adults) with BINGO and other pool activities. All pool staff were professional and friendly. We always chose to walk to the parks, so I cannot comment on the water taxi service.
We had the Orlando Towncar Service transport us to/from the airport. This was the second time I used this service and once again was very pleased. They are punctual, and friendly. They will even do a grocery stop on the way which is a nice touch. We knew we would not be needing a car for our short visit and it saved us the $20 pkg. fee at the resort.
We ate each night in CityWalk. The concierge service was very helpful in making reservations for us. (Pat O'Brien's was our favorite) One night we went to see Blue Man Group and had a fantastic time. We had great poncho section seats, although we really didn't need the ponchos. We also played mini-golf at CityWalk which was lots of fun as well.
I will definitely stay at this fine resort again when visiting the Orlando area. I would not hesitate recommending anyone to stay here. We had a wonderful time.

I stayed here with my husband and a few other couples. It was great!!! It's within walking distance to both Universal Studios Parks and the City Walk (bars, restaurants, movie theatre, mini golf, etc.) or you can also take the taxi boat free of charge. We spent some time at both Universal Studios parks and did some off-resort excursions but the City Walk was the perfect spot for evening entertainment. We went there for dinner and drinks every night that we were there. There were tons of options for restaurants/bars (all within walking distance). The hotel itself had some excellent looking restaurants too however we never ate there. Another awesome perk was that when we purchased stuff in the Universal Studios parks, we had it sent to our rooms free of charge so that we didn't have to carry it around with us. We spent one day at the pool. Its a wonderful pool and wasn't too busy. Also, I never had to chance to go shopping but apparently there are some really good shopping malls very close to this hotel. Service was great everywhere throughout the hotel! The rooms were lovely and clean! I hope to be back!

We had a great time visiting the hotel and parks, but a concern of mine was that we had purchased a dining plan, but we could not use it in the hotel. Most evenings we just wanted to dine in at the hotel, but were sort of forced to go out to eat. Regardless we loved our room and it's view of the parks. We loved the friendly staff and would definitely come back again.

We met up with friends the weekend before a big conference. We already had reservations at the conference hotel but cancelled them to get the extras that come with staying on site at Universal.
You get into each park an hour before the general public AND the park hours are staggered so you get an hour in each park before they open. You also get the line jumper pass. These amenities take away much of the stress that can come with theme parks.
Had an AWESOME weekend!!
The hotel itself is the least expensive of the on-site hotels and it shows. Typically for over $300 per night you would have a much higher expectation of the rooms. They are very basic and the bathrooms could use an update. But you are paying for the location and amenities.

It is the most beautiful hotel I have ever visited. Super clean, friendly staff, majestically decorated! Both, kids and adults love the pool and all the activities offered. Every window has the perfect view.

If Loews likes to bundle its amenities along with Universal Orlando, a better job needs to be done to streamline the entire process. Guests are often meant to fend for themselves to wade through the paperwork/ticket/card/vacation package process, standing in many lines which significantly eats into precious (and expensive) vacation time. It seems that if Universal Orlando can provide finger-scanning technology for entry, why can't the hotels and Universal team up and provide 1 scannable card per guest with all available (paid for) amenities? We were confused for at least 2 full days on exactly what we had already paid for, and received conflicting information at every turn. What line do we stand in? What food have we paid for already? Is this restaurant included in our package? While Loews did their best to provide information, they were quick to point out that our frustrations were really with Universal Orlando, not Loews Royal Pacific. We agree that Universal Orlando has many issues, but if Loews is a participating hotel with joint packages, then they are at least somewhat responsible, yet no one at the hotel was willing to admit fault.
The breakfast available for purchase near the lounge was a joke. It is completely self-service with no one seemingly available to help in any way except to take your money. A pancake "machine" that spits out 2 rubbery/inedible flour bombs was present, complete with cold syrup in a huge vat that no one bothered to keep warm, and fruit cups with unripe honeydew and overripe watermelon cut large chunks that you need a separate plate to cut up again before eating (I will happily admit that the pineapple was very tasty though)...the list goes on and on here. The cashier was quite put out that we were paying in cash--she seemed to be able to handle a room number only.
Our "water view" room, that we paid extra for, was blocked by trees.
We called the concierge for shaving cream and a hair brush--received the shaving cream with no issues but the woman did not know if they had a hair brush unless we went to the lobby and paid for one. Not awful, but really?
The pool bar service was pretty good, except for one server who overcharged us for drinks on one visit. We said nothing at that point since we had been standing in the incredibly long Universal lines all day and were tired of dealing with issues.
While I realize our main issues were with Universal Studios, the whole experience seemed disjointed and unplanned.

Great location, clean rooms, friendly and knowledgeable staff, overall fabulous experience. Any chance you can stay on an amusement park property, it makes the experience so much more memorable as you are not spending all your time getting there!
