Recently stayed for two nights after a 4 night stay at DW. I stayed at the Grand Floridian at DW for a conference. I actually paid more for this room because I received conference rates at the GF. Is this room worth $300 a night? No.. Is it as nice as the GF? No... The room was average, nothing special, you don't get a fridge?? For $300 plus a night. The room was clean, and we did have a nice view of the pool and the empty Arizona ice tea can that someone threw in the bushes. Your paying for early access into the parks for the Harry Potter areas and yes it is worth if for that. You need to get up early though because the parks open at 8 am so you need to be at the parks by 7. Factor in that both Harry Potter areas are located in the back of the parks so it takes you an extra 15 minutes to get there once you enter the park. Definitely do the early park admission or else you will wait, wait and wait to get onto the ride. Plus if you want to walk around in the areas without bumping into people, go early. Then you can take advantage of the express pass you get by staying at the hotel and basically walk right on the other rides until about 11 am, then you will start to have to wait. But wait times are much better with the express pass so there is another perk to staying on site. Really at busy times there is no other way to do it unless you want to pay an extra $89 bucks for an express pass.
The pool area is great!!!!! They hand out frozen grapes, cold towels and sample slushy drinks throughout the day. Also have kids activities going on too. Be aware that the chairs go quickly so get one early. Drinks are expensive, $11 for cocktail, so take advantage of their happy hour 11-1 and 5-7, much more affordable.
One thing that was awful was having to listen to people in the halls getting ready to go to the parks early!! Doors slamming, kids running, even adults yelling. The halls echo so you will be woken up early if your not getting up. Acoustics are terrible, compared to the GF, well there isn't one .

Absolute fantastic Hotel, Friendly staff and great location to the Universal parks. Added benefit of early entry into the parks and fast pass included, which is a must during busy times. we stayed in a room with 2 queen size beds sleeping 4 but you can pay a fee for a put up bed to sleep 5, or get yourself a blow up single mattress from Walmart and use that. A real added bonus instead of having to book 2 rooms for a family of 5. Great pool and well managed gardens. Only downside is parking is not included, which i think was $18 per day.

This hotel was way overpriced for the size room you get. The hotel itself is quite beautiful and the close proximity to City Walk and Universal Orlando is ideal, but you will pay for that. The room was just a regular sized hotel room at 4 times the price. The AC was non-existent and the room always felt warm. The bed and linens were not luxury. Parking cost $20 a night for self park, and it a good ½ mile trek to the car. The “free” wi-fi was so slow and kept disconnecting. I think they just made it crappy so you would pay the $15 per night for wi-fi upgrade. The water taxi to City Walk is nice, but they shut it down if lightning is around, so you may end up walking back to hotel in rain (it rained every afternoon we were there). The pool area was beautiful, but very crowded with kids batting around beach balls provided by hotel – not very relaxing for adults. For me, the room was not worth the money. I thought the biggest advantage of staying here is the hour early in park, and unlimited express pass at Universal which is why I booked it. In early July, Diagon Alley just opened so the parks were packed and the express pass was essential if you don’t want to wait in ANY ride line for hours. We would have come out better staying at off-site hotel and buying the express passes in the park. We didn’t even have time to re-ride any rides so the unlimited express was not something we used. We ended up only using the express pass once on rides that allowed it – which Harry Potter rides did not.

Beautiful hotel! Smooth early check in @ 9am facilitated quickly so we were able to start theme park visit by 10 am. Self service express pass kiosk and ticket counter were right at the lobby so you could have almost all you need before you hit the park. Requested for a fridge ( w/c would have been and additional charge) and received it promptly complimentary. Water taxi was very convenient and brought us to and from the parks within 5 mins. Walking path was also well lit and about 7-8 min walk. Pool was beautiful with attentive staff. Complimentary wifi access in the room was a disappointment. It was limited and timed and have to sign in almost everyday. If you need faster access, you will have to fork $15. Staff very helpful and friendly

From the time I made my reservation, my arrival, room no ready, problem with the water taxi captain( I notified the manager at the Guess Service Department of Universal about this incident), I was hoping that the manager at this hotel will waive my entirely stay for the horrible experience, but it didn't happen. The most he did was to offer me $ 50.00 credit. It was just a slap to my face. I don't think I will recommend to my friends to go this hotel.

We only stayed 2 nights; we don’t like inconveniences we were there for a short period of time, 1st night shower w/ water up to my ankles, next day we when to the park came back fast around 8 p.m. we had to be back in the park at 9:00 pm for reservations, to our surprise room service never did our room, call room service in hold for 5 minutes, then I called front desk they can’t help me, called back room service wait it about 8 minutes no answer at this point already mad I called the front desk to speak to the manager (Dennis) busy he will call back, he called back 5 minutes later, he said nothing he can do because is a room service problem , by this time we were already late impossible to make it to our reservations. Lost that money and happily they finish doing my room at 11:00 pm, other problems shower didn’t drain fast , ripped bed sheets etc.

For a $ 250 a night, you can go anywhere else and no hassles like this. Never again

Stayed here to use the early admission to the new Harry Potter world. The front desk did not let us know that we needed tickets printed. Had to get out of line and go get tickets - woke up at 5:30 to be in that line! The hotel is nice but needs to make sure that guests have everything they need.
