“Great location and service”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

The outstanding people who work here made it a wonderful experience.

From the moment we drove onto the beautifully landscaped property, check-in, luggage arriving in the room, going to the pool and check-out. The room is a little worn and very small - had to keep the bathroom door all the way closed to exit the room.

The self-service continental breakfast is very over-priced - I understand resort prices, but $5.00 for 2 pancakes you have to make yourself and then schlep to a table is a little over the top.

Very easy 15 minute walk to the Universal parks (or you can take a boat for a quicker trip), so we could leave when it began to rain and return after the summer rains were over. We walked, as the children enjoyed looking at all the plants and flowers on the path and it was a nice, quiet, relaxing walk.

Two park benefits to staying in the hotel: 1) 1- hour early admission to Harry Potter part of Islands of Adventure, and 2) Express pass access.

We would recommend staying here

Our room was beautiful. The staff was extremely helpful. They made everything about our trip easy for us. Every person we came in contact with was cheerful and ready to help with any of our needs. The food at the breakfast buffet was all hot and fresh so we could eat quickly and begin our day in the Parks

My family and I decided that we would try Universal this year instead of our customary Disney vacation that we usually take every 2 years. After much research and countless hours of Youtube video's we decided on The Royal Pacific. I have to say that, overall, it was a very good choice. There were some minor things that could have been done to enhance our stay but nothing that would have put the RP in the horrible category. The place is absolutely gorgeous, you truly feel like you stepped into a tropical paradise from your first walk across the bridge into the main lobby. We arrived early, but were pleasantly surprised that one of our two rooms was ready upon check-in. We were able to settle in while the second room was being readied, and as soon as it was they sent us a text to let us know we could access it. Check in went smooth, and the front desk staff was courteous and professional. After check in we proceeded to the activities desk where we got our meal plan and express passes. We got the quick service plan, which in my opinion was not worth it. Most of the food is along the lines of burger and fries type cuisine. Not to say there weren't other food options, but the point is, its mostly fast food type food. We wound up eating out every night at some of the nicer places on city walk which added to our food costs considerably. Would have been nice if the food plans were accepted in other places besides the parks. Also the individual tickets you get for the meal plan was terrible. There were seven of us, which made us carry a huge stack of meal tickets around all week. Why can't they just consolidate it on one card like Disney does? The room was clean, although a little on the small side. Room service was sub-par. They do this thing were they don't make the beds, they just straighten the lines up. Don't know if it was just my room, but I found it odd, but it wasn't enough of a issue for me to complain. They also didn't replenish the coffee K-cups daily, by the third day I had to track down room service and get more K-cups and coffee cups. They also have a habit of slamming the doors of the rooms they are cleaning which echo's down the hallways, this happened all week. The pool area was great, never a problem getting loungers. The bartenders at the pool bar were very friendly and accommodating. However if you like to have cocktails, be prepared to pay for them. This place crushes you for alcohol. $15 bucks for a tropical drink and $8 bucks for a beer poolside. There are happy hours in different bars on the property starting around 4pm, but at the times we were sitting around the pool when we wanted to have a drink the happy hour times didn't work for us. The property was beautifully landscaped, it was nice just to walk around the grounds. My youngest daughter and I took a walk on the river path every morning. The boat shuttle was a great benefit to staying on property, they were generally pretty quick, and was a nice relaxing ride after a long day in the parks. There were always some activities going on for the kids poolside. The ice cream parlor by the pool was disappointing. The posted close time was 10pm, but in actuality it is 9pm. When we showed up for ice cream at about 8:45 one night the clearly agitated girl behind the counter acted as if she was doing us a favor by fulfilling our order. Then she proceeded to tell me, if any one else got in line behind us for me to tell them she was closed...not my job lady! Plus they are only open on weekends. For real? Everyone here is on vacation, every day is the weekend. The parks were great, even though you can tell that you are definitely NOT in Disney! Although most of the staff in the parks was courteous, you get the distinct feeling right away that they are not going the extra mile, and if you want people to kiss your back side, maybe you should have gone to Disney. The express pass was key to the entire trip, our experience would have been much different without it. Well worth the extra money. So to sum it up, we had a wonderful time, with some minor issue, but I think everyone has some minor issues on every vacation they take. Would we go back? I honestly don't know, we may do our Disney vacation with a day or two in Universal in the future. With the express pass and a early arrival at the parks you can literally do both Universal parks in a day. It was a nice change of pace, but in the end there's no place like Disney!

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of hallways are quieter.

Green Features: The Royal Pacific is a extremely green and environmentally friendly resort. This is evident in the great habitat that is provided. Plenty of wildlife around.

I have been staying at this hotel for many years now and love this place.. always great! But my last trip was disappointing... We stayed one day at the pool, sunday, at there was only one waitress at the pool attending all the people seating at the lounge chairs.... It will take 30-45minutes to get out drinks.. I would have to go looking for her to order.. The last drink my GF order was brought to us all watery like if it was sitting at the bar for awhile. My GF didnt drink any and waited over 30 minutes for the waitress and then she just went to the bar to have it remade and we found the waitress there and told her. Her nasty response was "well, you had the drink for 30minutes". we told her that we were wiaitng for her to come around for 30minutes.. She remade it but with a nasty attitude...
The waitress name is "GINGER"..

i always praise this hotel to everyone and always stay here and pay so much more because of the service but this time wasnt happy...

I am going at the end of the month and have my room booked but I hope a manager will contact me here and try to do something special for us as being a loyal customer...

John

Room Tip: Always get a room on a high floor.

It had been years since I last visited the resort. I wish I hadn't waisted so much time and money at other hotels. The ambience is incredible. You feel very relaxed the moment you arrive. The staff that was selected is phenomenal. I felt like royalty my entire stay. I can't wait to go back. Even if it's just for a day at the parks I will make time to enjoy the resorts delicious food.

Have stayed at this hotel several times and love it. The authentic feel of the surrounding gardens is wonderful. Love the fact that several great restaurants are in the hotel and also that the water shuttle gets you to Citywalk in minutes allowing you to have all those places to choose from as well. Wonderfully appointed rooms. Always clean. Always comfortable. Pricey for sure but always feel it is worth it once we leave...

We stayed for five nights (May 27 to June 1, 2014) at Loew’s Royal Pacific Resort and had a wonderful time. This is the 14th consecutive time that we have stayed at the Royal Pacific on our annual trip to Universal Studios Orlando. Needless to say, we really enjoy staying here! It is like a second home to us.

Accessibility to individuals with mobility impairments is very important to us, because my daughter uses a manual wheelchair to get around. Everything at the Royal Pacific and the parks is so accessible that she is able to come and go independently from place to place within the hotel and into the parks. It is a great relief not to have to worry about whether there will be curb cuts or ramps as we travel around the hotel and the parks.

We have always stayed on the Club Level on the 7th (top) floor of Tower 3. The staff in the Club Lounge are exceedingly helpful and friendly, whether it’s answering a question like how late are the parks open today or how do I get to the nearest emergency room (not this trip, fortunately), calling the gift shop to see if they have earplugs in stock, or providing bottled water for our day in the parks or traveling home.

We especially enjoy how easy it is to get from the Royal Pacific to Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios and City Walk. If it’s nice out we often take the 10 minute walk to Islands of Adventure and City Walk. If our feet need a break or we’re headed for Universal Studios, we take the boat. On this trip for the first time we also took the Shuttle Bus back to the hotel from City Walk. This is a handy option when the boats aren’t running due to the weather.

We were determined to do as many of our favorite things at the hotel as possible on this trip, so we spent half a day at the pool, ordered Shipwrecked nachos one evening from the poolside Bula Bar and Grille, and stopped in several times to Jake’s for ice cream, iced coffee or a nightcap.

Last but not least, the Royal Pacific is a beautiful place. The sculpture alone has inspired me to take photographs in the courtyard, along the walkway to the parks, beside the pool, on the walkway to the driveway, etc.

I would encourage anyone to make reservations as early as possible in your trip planning to be sure of getting the dates and room types you are hoping for. I'll soon start planning our next trip!
