“Convenience at a price”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Having been to Orlando a few times , we usually stay at the Quality inn international ( now Rosen inn International ) on international drive. This year it was fully booked so we opted for the Loews Royal Pacific instead. The Hotel is in beautiful surroundings , lush with palms and foliage. Like other reviewers , I would say the advantages are the fee fast pass to Universal Islands of adventure and Universal studios In conjunction with your park tickets ). This means you can skip the queues to most rides at the parks not just once but repeatedly. The close proximity to the parks gives you the opportunity to come and go several times a day, using either the lovely path- 5 minutes , free boat- 3 minutes or cycle rickshaw ( free but tipping expected).Your room key also gives you admission to use the facilities and pools at the Hard Rock Hotel and Portfino Bay. Boats run approximately every 10 minutes ( 30 minutes after 12pm) and run till 2am. We usually walked there and took the boat back. the rooms are very nice but would be crowded for four people . Quite adequate for 2 - big comfy bed each. Tons of soft towels ( and soft toilet paper). Nice toiletries ,decent shower, hairdryer ( in top of wardrobe ). Our room was on the 5th floor in block 3 with no pool view but overlooked a lake and jungle garden. Air conditioning was adjustable and worked - wasn't too noisy. The rest of the hotel is themed beautifully like a south sea island and you do feel special there. We weren't sure about the parking there though we knew we had to pay , for 11 nights it was $210. we paid this up front when we checked in and could access the parking area by swiping our room key . This is an added expense but we would have paid to park at the theme parks anyway. Again repeating what most reviewers have said , whilst the hotel is immaculate, room cleaning is not up to standard, our dresser was stained with what I think must be milk from the little cartons and tops were thick with dust. Tip - we took our own teabags and instant coffee and used the coffee machine to heat the water. Compared to the very cheap Quality inn , Loews pacific had no microwave or refrigerator provided. We didn't have a problem with noise as some reviewers had. Due to the beauty of the place, fast pass and location to the parks, despite the expense we would probably return . we got a last minute deal through thomsons which made it affordable to us.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor as foliage can block your view on some lower floors.

This was a getaway courtesy of a charity auction. We expected a nice stay and experienced it. However, we were bothered that a high end facility you are nicked for amenities a Holiday Inn Express provides free. We expected free in-room wi-fi but not to be had. Why do 4 star hotels expect you to go down to the lobby area to access wi-fi? Even though newspapers are available in the lobby, mid-price properties deliver it to your room. And why did we have to pay $18/night for open air parking? And why would housekeeping knock on our door at 7:45am asking us when we would be checking out? Never experienced that at any other facility.

Dining prices are geared towards travelers on expense accounts. How do middle income families afford the prices?

Excellent facility but at what price?

There is not much to fault this hotel. The rooms are nice. Nothing special, but comfortable and clean. The grounds of the hotel are fun. There is a pool and a beach area. There are often activities at the pool such as outdoor movies.
There are quite a few great restaurants that are located IN the hotel, which is a good option if you just want to dine in.

I do have to say that for what you have to pay to stay at this hotel, the hotel doesn't live up to it's wanting to be anything 'Royal' or 'Grand' or luxurious. Yes, the decor of the hotel is very nice, but that is about it. Everything else is nothing above average considering service and comfort.

If you are thinking about booking a Universal package deal (which will include this hotel), my advice is not to do so, because the so called 'perks' that come with this package are non-perks, in terms of overall value.

If you stay at a 'Universal hotel'- you get 'early admission' one hour before the park opens. Well, you DO get that, but ONLY to the 'Wizarding World of Harry Potter' part of the park. Which is not more than 20 meters and if it a slow day or if you have an express pass, that early admission time is not really necessary. It is just 3 rides.... the rest of the park is not included in this 'early admissions' concept.
If you stay at the Universal Loews Royal Pacific Hotel, and you have a car, you will stil lhave to pay 18$ per day for parking.
Also, internet is not included in the room rate which is 19.95$ per day.

So if you make a quick calculation, I would say that you are better off staying at any hotel in Orlando which will enable you to get the same level of comfort for a lower price, and then just buy tickets and an express pass to the park. All in all you will get a better deal for the same experience. Also, you can just evaluate on the day if an express pass is needed or not (they are sold near the entrance). When we were there it was not busy at all and an express was not needed, eventhough it came included in our hotel package.

Pros of this hotel:
*Walking Distance to Universal Studios and CityWalk.
*Beautiful Decor
*Great Restaurants
*Bellmen are very friendly/helpful

Cons:
*Overpriced
*Rooms are nothing special
*Parking $18 per day
*internet $19.95 per day

My boyfriend and I stayed at the royal pacific for 3 nights 4 days. .which was definitely NOT long enough! From the moment we pulled up we were amazed at the breath taking views of the hotel. Orchids everywhere in addition to other lush plant life. The fountain outside the lobby is a vision! White sand beaches, fire pits.i could go on forever. in was quick, we arrived early around 1and the room ready...The room was perfect on garden level giving us easy access to the pool and restaurants. Jill in ticket services was helpful with info, Abd supplied us with birthday pins! Jeff at the pool bar was the BEST! Friendly, personable and makes an award winning drink. We were here for horror nights and the location couldnt have been better, and the water taxi servicecouldn't have made getting around easier especially after a night atCity walk...again 4 days was just not enough! Thanks for a grea t experience, we re already planning a trip back for next years Christmas season!

Had a wonderful stay at the Royal Pacific. The room was comfortable and clean with a great view of the park. We upgraded and got the free breakfast which was very good and also included a happy hour with great selection of food! The whole hotel is very classy... very clean in all areas!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the park. Try to upgrade if you can.
