Bottom line: This is the best location if you want the most-best access to Universal's Islands of Adventure - Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Use: www.orlandoinformer.com to build your own priority list for maximizing your time/minimizing your frustration at Universal Studios.

Worked for us: We booked our entire vacation directly through Universal Studios and received the AAA discount, along with the one hour early park admission, park entry tickets and so on. When we crossed over the moat bridge into the lobby of the Royal Pacific, we were met with friendly greetings and good service. The young man (from Maryland) who checked us in offered us several choices in rooms and we chose a quiet room. He put us on the 7th floor of tower 1, overlooking the pool. It was indeed a quiet room, large enough for 4 and well appointed.

Walk to the Islands of Adventure park entrance took us 7 minutes, including the stop to have my purse checked by security. Teen was able to do the walk in less time as he had no bags to carry. We are medium-fast walkers. Families with small children ride the water taxi but we thought that the walking path between the Royal Pacific and Citiwalk, which then leads to two parks was beautiful and rewarding in its lush tropical beauty. Just keep your eye out for Margaritaville to find the path back to the resort.

The only downside to the resort is that they don't always vacuum or dust every part of the room each night. We left tips of $3.50 to $6.50 each morning, hoping to signal for a more thorough cleaning but didn't receive any different service. The room was not dirty, just not spotlessly clean. Everything was in its place, the beds were made and the towels replaced. I might have wanted the mirrors to be polished daily and the carpets vacuumed more thoroughly.

Take Away: We each enjoyed our stay at this resort. The wifi in the lobby was enough for our needs. The parking was very convenient to drive out to pick up rainwear from Walmart and get out of the park for dinner. We liked the decor and relaxing atmosphere of this resort best when compared with Portofino (too stark and sterile to be Italy) and Hard Rock (not interesting to those who aren't into Rock legends). The resort added an island restfulness to our amusement park experience.

Room Tip: Ask for an end room or one on the top floor.

We stayed 10 nights at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort and are so glad we paid the extra money to stay at an on-site hotel at Universal, when you stay at an on-site hotel you get express passes for all the rides (except Harry Potter) this beats all the queues, especially in the heat and humidity! You can also get into Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure 1 hour early at 8am before everyone else can get in!

The hotel is very Polynesian in style and the staff are so friendly, nothing is a problem, the meals are gorgeous and reasonably priced for an on-site hotel. The pool can get very busy but pool towels are provided free and there plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas.

We stayed in a water view room which looked out onto universal studios & the river- they can also look out over the pool.

Complimentary water taxis are also included in your stay and run every 5 mins or so. These take you to the theme parks and city walk where all the restaurants, bars and shops are, if you prefer to walk it takes around 10 mins along the waterfront to get to the parks.

This hotel is suitable for families or couples - and we would definitely stay here again for the location and the benefits of getting into the theme parks early and skipping the queues!!

You will find the American people so happy all the time - we couldn't fault anything - hope this review helps anyone looking at staying at this hotel!

we arrived on 8/31 to celebrate my birthday. We were greatly quickly by Kris who was awesome. He said our room was available and gave us a run down of the hotel and we paid for our parking at that time. Our room was in tower 3 on the 4th and we loved it, the location was excellent and the room was perfect for the 2 of us. The main perk of this hotel is early entry into the parks as well as express access to the rides. The pool is fun and we did partake in a pool volleyball game which was one of the highlights of our trip. we are heading back in October and this hotel is on our list of possible places.

Aloha goofyfigment! Happy Belated Birthday! Thank you for choosing us as your destination to celebrate such a special occasion. We certainly hope you enjoyed your view and accommodations while with us. Thank you for taking the time to write about our resort and we hope you can return in the near future (possibly October?) for some more pool volleyball, Mahalo!

It seems they copied the plans from a Disney hotel but did not get finer points that make Disney world-class and Universal an also-ran (a theme that is reflected in their theme parks as well). The bottled water in the room is $7 and cashews $10. Parking at the hotel is $18 -- even though we have an Annual Pass. The fitness center is $10. There is NO Nickelodeon or Disney channel on the hotel television!? The hotel's restaurants were completely overwhelmed with the weekend volume. All told, one night cost us about $240 (sans food). The true value is the Express Pass, which is included. This is the only reason we would *ever* stay at a Universal hotel.

Room Tip: NO children's television stations available. Fitness center is not free. Parking is not free.

We stayed here for one night to make use of the early entry to islands of adventure and fast track tickets. Check in was very quick, staff lovely and helpful, photo done for fast track tickets easy. When we arrived at our room we were a bit surprised to see only 2 double beds when there were 5 of us. We rang down to ask for the 3rd bed and were told that it would be an extra $25 as normally 3 children can fit into a double bed (our kids are 21, 16 and a 6 foot 12 year old!). We refused to pay this as they were aware there were 5 of us. They said on this occasion they would do it for free.
The walk to Universal parks and city walks is 10 minutes otherwise the water taxi is lovely especially after a tiring day or late night. The kids went to swim in the pool but said it was too busy.

Aloha Sally C! Thank you for sharing the details on your recent experience at the Islands! We are thrilled to hear check-in went smoothly and that you were able to take advantage of early park admission. We apologize for any confusion with the sleeping arrangements and we thank you for the opportunity to accommodate you. Many thanks once again, Mahalo!

4-5 star experience. Staff is very friendly. The rooms and the bathrooms are small but clean. But, we weren't in them long. Although we had accommodations elsewhere, it was great to have a place somewhat close by to rest and to change out of wet clothes. (Bring extra clothes! Even if you are wearing poncho's you will get wet on the water rides. The water rides are the best rides around!). Our room was available at 7am which made it extremely nice. Even if the room hadn't been ready, we were able to experience early entry on check-in day and check-out day. We paid between $16-$20 for every day that we entered the gated parking area. I think that is comparable to what you pay when you drive into the park without a hotel room and you can't park any closer. The resort has on site shops and restaurants. (We didn't have time to experience them.). Sometimes we took the water taxi and sometimes we walked to the park. There are guys on bikes who will provide you a ride from the hotel to the park and I believe that is supposed to be free. The only complaint I have is that we had left some things in our room but had taken our luggage. Housekeeping came in and cleaned it out as if we had left. (They took almost a whole case of water and tried to replace it with a few 6 oz bottles of water.) The hotel insists they didn't have us checked-out. But, I don't understand why housekeeping took everything (including the bar key) when it wasn't our check-out date. All in all mistakes happen, we were given a credit for our inconvenience, and I will definitely consider staying here again when we return to Universal.

Awesome declaration. It was really clean and beautiful statues. Reminded me of Hawaii. One of the great things about this hotel is that it has a water taxi that allows you to get to Universal in 5 minutes. Even when they experience is great and fantastic it's short from world class.
