We loved this hotel it was bright, clean and airy with lots of thoughtful touches.

The kids were so excited when they saw their dinosaur themed room and the club lounge was super family friendly and a pleasure to be in.

The pool area is great although we found it a little chilly in November.

The benefits of staying on-site and being within walking distance of Harry Potter can not be underestimated but this hotel stands on it's own two feet.

We would have given it 5 stars except for one bad check-out experience. I have written about it in our blog along with photos for those interested:

Room Tip: The Club level was great, as were the Jurassic Park suites

My daughter treated me to a weekend here for my Christmas present. We arrived on the 1st of December and stayed until the morning of December 4th. When we arrived late in the evening, the hotel was very quite and we felt like we were "out of place" because it was so beautiful! We have never had bellboy service and was amazed to find that our bag were taken to our room right away. The "clerk" named Steve was so very friendly and explained so many things to us and made us feel so welcomed.

Our room was in "Tower 2" on the 6th floor. The view was not the greatest but the room was very nice. We looked at the prices of the "in-room bar" and the bottled water that was on the bar area. I'm sorry but we were not about to pay $7.00 for a bottle of water or $10.00 if we wanted to have a relaxing drink in our room. The hotel prices were a bit pricey but the food was very good.

The Express Pass was GREAT! Access to both Theme parks was very easy. We took the water taxi each morning and decided to walk back to the hotel each night. We enjoyed ourselves very well.

The only warning I have for "smokers", they don't tell you how close a designated smokers area is located. I asked if there were any areas for smokers and was informed that it was in front of the hotel. Every morning, I would go outside the front of the hotel and have a cigarette and a cup of coffee provided in the room. The last morning there, I was informed by one of the valet's that the glassed area inside the main lobby is an open-air sitting area for smokers. At the Adventure Islands, once you reach the Harry Potter Theme park, there is only one area designated for smokers and that is almost at the entrance to the Harry Potter section. (I was okay with that but just amazed that there were not more.) Once you came out of that area to the other sections, there were plenty of smoker areas. When you go to the Universal Studios area, there were limited places also but that was okay. ( I needed to cut down anyway.)

If you want to have a fun weekend and just a beautiful get-away, this is the place to stay!

Room Tip: Request in advance for a room overlooking the parks.

We stayed 1night during our recent stay in Florida, this Hotel is lovely and I would have been very happy to stay for longer. The location is brilliant and the ability to access express passes is a good incentive. The Hotel was spotlessly clean and the restaurant choice was very good. Would definitely recommend this Hotel a fabulous stay.

We've stayed annually at this property. We really like the Express Pass privileges that are included for Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure. Maybe it is just because we have been here so many times, but the hotel seems to have lost some of it's resort appeal/feeling. Because we have stayed so frequently we received an email offer with an absolutely fabulous rate which encouraged us to spend at least part of our trip at this property. (see other reviews for other properties used on this trip to Tampa & Orlando) Staff was all very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. The room is much smaller than what you can get at a much cheaper hotel. if that is important to you, but you are not paying for room size here. One day we did take advantage of the early park hours available to on-site and partner hotel guests. (also see review on Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure)

Staying on site made it easy to get to Universal. Hotel staff were nice - food was good but a bit pricey. The restaurant to avoid is Emeril's Tchoup Chop - what a rip off. Food was cold, service slow, prices high.

The pool was great, the rooms were nice. I asked for a different room, and the management was terrific about honoring my request. They also let us check in early, which is wonderful.

If you are planning on several days at Universal I would certainly recommend that you stay on site. This affords you early entry to Harry Potter - don't underestimate the need for that valuable hour when it comes to queues! - Your room key also acts as your Fastpass (I couldn't imagine standing in line for an hour for a 2 minute thrill!) They also ship any goodies you have bought straight back to your room, so you don't end up with melted chocolate frogs or wonky wands that you have to stuff into lockers.

We found the staff at Lowes very friendly and helpful and Housekeeping did a great job. The pool area was clean and they organised activities here such as games or an evening movie in the pool. The mini-bar was well stocked and the coffee machine was much appreciated in the morning to prepare for the day ahead.

We took the complimentary water taxi most days which runs every 15 minutes and gets you over to IOA for early entry. It only takes about 10 minutes to walk into the parks from the resort though.

If I had to be picky I would say that in Tower 2 the corridors looked a little worn and each of the guest room doors looked as if they could do with a good lick of paint. There were no balconies in those rooms for drying wet clothes or enjoying the sunset either.

A pretty garden variety resort, but the fees are truly insidious: EVERYTHING has a fee. Room are so-so, and ours had a non functioning toilet when we checked in. It took 90 minutes and three calls to get maintenance up to fix, and they wouldn't entertain a room change. Also got assessed an 18% automatic gratuity when six of us decided to have a night cap (three separate checks as well). Overall kinda odd to have a Hawaiian resort in Florida...
