Disney's All-Star Music Resort
Ranked #137 of 342 Hotels in Orlando
Reviewed March 22, 2013

To start off, Disney World is still amazing after many years of coming here, and Disney does an incredible job of maintaining and adding to this park and doesn't disappoint. But as far as the All-Star 'resort' (not my classification of this property), the grounds are decent and well maintained, the rooms clean, but the outside look and dining experience were anything but a resort feel.

Pros:
- Very clean room
- Nice pool
- Relatively inexpensive for Disney resort (Paid $99 / night)
- A lot of buses transporting to parks (although can fill up fast - waited 40 minutes one morning)

Cons
- Motel look feel with some over sized props to kind of give a Disney feel (didn't suceed though)
- Cafeteria style dining (not resort dining at all!) Although daughter really liked the Mickey mouse waffles (only ate breakfast)
- High prices for food for what you get.
- Good service at times, but had a poor experience where we were charged $15 for a roll out bed seven times on our bill, although we only stayed there one night. Couldn't do speedy check out and had to spend 30 minutes at front desk resolving this and manager still billed us the $15 (generally not expected considering it was their computer "glitch")

In summary, there are a lot of nicer hotels and resorts in the surrounding area, and we are going to pay a little more to stay at a real resort the next month when we go back.

We booked as part of a Virgin Holidays Deal, trying to keep to a budget (We're students and part time workers) we decided on the cheapest hotel on offer. Our room was in the Jazz section and was a ground floor corner room. Inside, we had 2 double beds, a TV, a table and chairs and a bathroom with a large closet/changing area.

IT was perfect for us! As a young couple, we used one bed for sleeping and the other for storing STUFF on :)

Room was perfectly warm, bedding was great, bathroom was good!

The hotel pool looked nice but we didn't use it.

We loved the disney store on site and used it for both picking up items we bought in the parks to buying throat sweets and headache tablets. It really is good!

The bus services to the parks were excellent too!

Food court was good for a food court but not somewhere to eat often as Disney fare elsewhere is a lot more appetising.

I stayed at All-Star Music for a week during a recent Disney vacation.

You will find a very basic Day's Inn type room, in great condition, beautifully kept. This is not a luxury Disney hotel like many of the others, but is an excellent value-for-money choice. Having said that, there are tolerable downsides you have to expect for such a low rate on-property. The main building has a huge food court, gift shop, arcade, all you would need. (At Disney prices, of course.) Overall, I'm not someone who would spend $400 a night on a deluxe resort room, so I like having the option of the All-Stars, and the few trade-offs are well worth it.

Pros

A good price on an on-property Disney resort
Two pools - one with activities for kids
Very nice theming/decoration/landscaping
Disney Transport - Let Disney do the driving
Magical Express pick-up and drop off at airport

Tolerable Cons

The Disney bus ride to parks is a good 20/30 minutes
Many of the buildings are a good five-minute walk from the main building
Lots and lots of noisy kids at the pools

i will be reviewing disneys all star music resort, reflecting on my own personal experience and discussing my likes and dislikes. i am 19, who travels to disney world every year with my family. we have stopped at all 3 of the all star resort hotels, and have only been to this hotel once. we visited with a large group including elders, one of which is disabled. we truly love the other all star resort hotels but this one offers a great deal of issues which is why we have decided not to return here to spend our holiday. these are based of my experience whilst stopping there as a guest.

i will start of by saying, we stopped at this hotel during spring break, so we were already expecting crowds and noise wherever we stopped, there was no getting away from it, but mixing in the crowds with this resort became something more than a challenge!! i will begin however by discussing my likes.

-LIKES-

this resort, like the other resorts of the all stars are set out in the same way. and this is the resort placed in the middle of the 3, which is second to be picked up and second to be dropped off. so its not to bad when dealing with the disney transport, but when you visit disney world at a busy time of year, there's not getting away from the crowds you just have to grin and bare it. the rooms are set out the same in all, all star resorts, however the all star music was the first out of all the all star resorts to offer suites. we have never stayed in a suite so i cannot comment on the quality, however the standard rooms are perfect for young children and adults, the beds are comfy, the rooms are cleaned Regularly and the resort offers all you would expect from a value resort.

-DISLIKES-

as stated in the title of this review this resort is big. its the biggest of all the resorts. we were foolish not to look into the size of the resort before we traveled which is something i highly recommend you do! as we travel with elders we always request preferred close rooms on booking. on arrival we were given our room number and block and only when we started walking did we realize how far back we were! this resort stretches so far back it can become a 10 minute walk just to get to and from your rooms to get to the buses, food court and check in. we did request to be moved but due to the busy times we were denied a room change. be warned, you could be placed right at the back and the walk can become draining and tiring in the florida head!

also stated in the title is, how loud this resort is!! because its the music, they really do live up to their name. the music and entertainment, whilst its fantastic for young children officially takes away any sort of relaxation around the pool. sunbathing, forget about it, unless you love loud thumping bumping music. personally i would have set times when entertainment was set for, but it carried on pretty much all night. i would not have liked being placed in a room over looking the pool. it would have been a nightmare!! whilst other resorts of the all stars also offer pool side entertainment it is not all the time and the music isn't as loud, allowing you to relax at the same time.

those issues to me are big ones, and i was not to impressed with the customer service at this hotel either. i would strongly recommend you,

1) go on youtube and view the size of the hotel!
2) go on youtube judge the poolside entertainment for yourself
3)check what events are going on, during your chosen date of travel, be warned of the crowds in advance
4)pay or highly request a preferred room before travel!! this resort is massive and the walk is tiring! it can take it out on anyone

if you require any further advice regarding this hotel please feel free to message me. i hope i helped you decide whether this resort is right for you, but i think its aimed personally at young teens or small children, certainly not for couples!!

If you want value, the All-Star Resorts are for you. If you want luxury, don't come here. These are very basic motel room type accomodations. It was a friends long weekend away to run a Disney race so these accomodations were perfect for us. There pools are good sizes and never seemed busy. The front staff is very good and solved all our issues.

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights at the All-Star Music resort. We are Disney Vacation Club members and have been staying at the deluxe resorts for the past few years but we needed a hotel last minute that was affordable and All-Star Music it was. As a child I have stayed at the All-Star resorts MANY times. The resorts are very family friendly and oriented. The resorts are large with only having a bus stop at the front so if you stay in a back building, which we did, you have a little bit of a walk. This was not a problem for us but may be for some and this is why these resorts offer preferred buildings that you can pay extra for. Our room was clean and comfortable but compared to the deluxe resorts they were very small and the bed quality is obvious, again for us this was not a big deal. The food options at the food court were plentiful and affordable! If you have a Tables of Wonderland discount card, the discount offers 20% at the food court which was great! The pools were clean as well as the pool furniture. The only negative experience we had was when we were checking out, we waiting over an hour for bell services to get to our room to get our luggage. This was VERY inconvenient and we called to complain twice and nothing was done about it. So, if you're looking for an affordable Disney hotel, The All-Star resorts offer a great vacation but with no luxury.

Room Tip: If you don't want to have a far walk from your room to the buses pay for a preferred room.

My husband and I, were very satisfied with our room, although it is ot a superior room it is nice and clean, with little gadgets unique to Disney. We had bought the Play, Eat and Fun Package (quick meals) and were very pleased with the choice of restaurants. We had a very good deal and had a room near the restaurants and transportation. Few years ago, we were staying at the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort which is a moderate hotel, but far more expensive. The All Star suited the purpose of our trip: park the car and leave there, jump in the Disney Transportation Bus and relax. Plus, we benefited of early entrance to a specific Park every day. The only disappointment was that they had removed the Disney characters in the middle of the main pool, as shown on their web site.
I would recommend it to anyone.
