Doubletree By Hilton at the Entrance to Universal Orlando
Ranked #159 of 340 Hotels in Orlando

Had a trade show at the hotel and decided to stay over for one night. Best front desk service in recent memory. The room was updated and spotless. The large size of the room was unexpected. Didn't feel like going out so had dinner at the Carnivale bar in the lobby. Great selection of draft beer including a local microbrewery. The food (shrimp) was remarkably good. Great bartender too! This property has gone through different owners over the years but the current management has their game on. Within walking distance to Universal Studios. I often travel to south Orlando on business and plan to make this my home base again next trip. Great value.

Stayed at the Doubletree Universal for two weeks in August, had a room overlooking the universal park, room very clean and comfortable, large enough fridge to store drinks, quick check in and lovely cookies that my children regularly went back for! Staff very polite and helpful. Within walking distance to universal (took around 15mins with two children) and walk back on a night was fine. TGI Fridays across from the hotel and Millers Ale House and IHOPa short walk away.Supermarket also close proximity. The I Ride stop is outside the hotel and runs on average every half hour.Used shuttle bus to Aquatica with no problem.Would certainly stay here again.

Girlie holiday to Florida and we stayed at the Doubletree for 10 nights in August, and had a brilliant stay.
LOCATION: Location was really important to us and it did not dissapoint! Dispite what some people say Universal IS in walking distance (in the midday sun it is VERY hot!) But it took us about 10 minutes to get to the entrance, which was great for going out in the evening. If you did want to get a taxi (which we did when it rained!) it only cost $5. There is an I-Dride stop right outside the hotel, which is great, but its not the International drive line, it runs down the road parrall ,which isnt a problem in the day, just the stops are a bit isolated at night. Also if you want the bars and restaurants on international drive the bus stops at 10.30pm and its too far (and across a major road!) to walk back. Ther e is a TGI Fridays right across the road which was great for dinner at night if it rained! And a Walgreens up the road for any goodies for the room.
POOL: Pool was really clean and well looked after. Always got 2 sunbeds together. Only problem is they close the whole area as soon as it starts to thunder which i most days! But i no its health and safety!
FOOD: The hotel is VERY expensive but you have to expect that being a Hilton. However we did use the food court for drinks and snacks when we had a lazy day round the pool. We also used Starbucks for a quick breakfast on some days. Buffet breaksfast was good however you can get it much cheaper at a sizzler or TGIs.
STAFF: All the staff are incredible friendly and will go out there why to say hello and help with anything you need. They genuinely care about giving you a pleasant stay.
ROOMS: We had 2 double beds and room was a really good size. Massive TV and space for all our shopping! It was always cleaned to a high standard every day. We also had a fridge which was great for keeping drinks cool.
CONCEIGE: They were really helpful every time we needed some help,Can sell you park tickets and i-ride passes.
HOTEL OVERALL: The hotel was gorgeous. If you want a comfy place to chill out after long days out this is perfect. The hotel was always clean and spotless. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Overall it was an excellent stay and the hotel cannot be faulted! Thank you Doubletree!

we stayed 15aug for 2 weeks cant say a bad word about the hotel
the bar staff deserve a mention sue, ryan, guillermo and aaron the bar manager all went out of their way to make me feel welcome
also when my son got sunburnt and had to stay in the room for one day aaron gave us free icecream and a free movie from the movie channel
the reception staff was always helpful
the universal desk the same
going out of their way to even ring a pub for me to ask if they were showing the football
also if you use the hotels taxi firm please ask for dadoo he became our driver through choice to the disneys parks he would come back in the evening to pick you up .say hello to dadoo from chris for me
the i ride bus stop is right outside the hotel $1.25 free for kids if you miss the buses going to aquactica seaworld etc also takes you in the evening to international drive
only runs to 10.30pm so then just call dadoo
also the walk to universal is about 15mins
or free bus at certain times or $5 with dadoo
the rooms were good loved the pillows
if i went back in the future i would not hesitate to stay here again
the only thing i didnt like was the price for breakfast but cross the road to tgi $6 buffet

Stayed here for a Girls Weekend. We were go9ng to Blue Man Group, so decided to stay close to Universal Studios. I love Double Tree hotels, but this one is a bit of a disappointment. The "Universal View" you pay extra for is not worth it. You can barely see the theme park. The hallways smelled vaguely of urine and when we arrived in our room there was a "wet spot" on the floor. I am assuming they spot cleaned the rug, but....... We did call management, but we weren't in the room much, so I have no clue if they did anything about it. This hotel was definately NOT up to Hilton standards.
