“Christmas at CSR was terrific!”
Reviewed January 5, 2010

We went to WDW for a short trip in December 2009. We were there from 12/3 to 12/6.

We used the online check in. When we arrived at 7:30pm, we were the only one in line and were in and out within minutes. We walked to our room and headed out to the Pepper Market for dinner. They just began a new menu in preparation for joining the DDP for 2010. The food was very good, our server was excellent and the variety is still good.

The room was clean. Everything was in order. We didn't spend much time in the room this trip but housekeeping did a good job every day. We didn't get any towel animals this trip.

The CM's were terrific, very friendly and helpful.

The cheerleaders that were going to be in the x-mas day parade were staying at CSR but we didn't even see them except at the parks.

This was our 11 trip to CSR and everything was perfect again!

If you want to stay at nice Disney resort that has the feel of a pricier resort, check out Coronado Springs.. We have stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge and Caribbean Beach in the past (all on Disney property). Coronado Springs is considered a moderate resort but we liked it much better than Caribbean Beach. The resort has lots of beautiful (and blooming) vegetation, surrounds a small lake and has a great pool and park area called The Dig Site--gives the resort a more deluxe feel. The rooms are not the same as deluxe rooms at Disney but they were nice. Stayed in Casitas 3, room 3267 (initially we did not get our original request for the Casitas and requested to be changed from the Ranchos to Casitas which was granted). The room was considered a "water view" because it was close to the lake but the rooms have hallways that run in front of them--similar to motel style--so it isn't easy to see the water from your window. I wouldn't pay for a water view again. The room was clean and surprisingly quiet. It had updated decor, flat screen television and small fridge that could fit two half gallons of milk and much more. Requested and received a microwave also. Our room was cleaned late in the day--around four p.m. so once we came back and it hadn't been cleaned yet The room was a great location for being close to Pepper Market food areas and two bus stops #1 and #2. It does take a few minutes to walk to the Disney transportation bus stops because the resort is large but the resort is also located close to Epcot, and Magic Kingdom so the bus rides seemed short. The buses only served Coronado Springs which was nice but they did make four stops around the resort for picking up and dropping off which slowed the ride a little. We always walked to bus stop #2 for going to the resort (which was the first pick up site) and got off on bus stop #1 when returning to the resort (which was the first drop off site). For more resort detail, there is a great fan site (a guy named Buzz) at http://coronado_springs.tripod.com/ which was helpful and we used the override for the thermostat that was recommended by Buzz and it worked great. The Dig Site has a pool, hot tub, volleyball courts, park for little and big kids, small arcade, restrooms and poolside drink/food place. The Dig Site was about a five minute walk from Casitas 3 (there is another quiet pool that is closer) and the Dig Site was open until midnight which was great for the little kids to wind down in the pool and expend some energy before going to bed. The lush vegetation, bridges, hammocks and wildlife (birds, ducks and squirrels) along the way made the walking fun. There are several eating options near the lobby, El Centro, including a bakery, a drinks/dessert/snack place (gelato!), a sit down restaurant called the Maya Grill and the Pepper Market which is an open air restaurant with many food stations where you take your tray and choose from pastas or pizzas to grilled burgers and fries. I was surprised that there wasn't more mexican food choices, however. There is also a bar/lounge called the Rix that looked like it had a DJ and small dance floor as well as televisions for those sports fans out there. There is also a large gift shop called "Panchitos" that carries some food items such as milk, cheese, bread, etc. There is an outdoor bar/lounge just outside the El Centro near the lake and, as I mentioned before, the poolside eating site at the Dig Site. The food was decent, usual high Disney prices (about $3 for a half gallon of milk, $8 for a plate of pasta but large enough to feed an adult and child together). We did not eat at the Maya Grill. Other potential recreation includes a small marina on the lake but this was closed during our visit and I have read that they sometimes close in the winter. I do wish the bike rentals had been available at least because that would have been fun for the kids. Overall, enjoyed the quiet room, pool area, close proximity to Disney parks, and lush vegetation. We could easily use a park hopper pass to go to one park in the morning, take a nap, and go to another park in the evening because the bus rides were short.

My best friend and I stayed here for 2 nights on 1st and 2nd of November 2009. My other friend was getting married at the Grand Floridian and so we chose to stay at this resort as it was easy to get a bus to all the Disney Resortsas neither of us drive.
Disappointed does not even sum it up. I am a massive Disney lover and have always dreamed of staying in a Disney Resort. The entrance and service from the staff was wondererful when we arrived, however the standard of the room was pitiful. I honesly wanted to cry when I looked around the room. The shower rail was rusty, the corners of the bathroom floor was filthy, and the bed sheets were a damned disgrace. Both mine and my friends sheets were dirty and had to be changed. The room was extreamly basic and NOT what I would expect from a Disney moderate resort. VERY disappointing.
My advice would be to stay outside the Disney resorts and pay a little less for a far superior hotel on International Drive. The money you save could be spent on taxi's if you want to do nightlife at Disney.

My stay at Disney Coronado springs was for (11) nights during August to September 2009. The site is large, and it can be a (15) walk from the far end to the central area where the services are located such as restaurants, front desk, and gift/convenience store. I stayed in Casita 1 building which was the closest building to the central area. The rooms are exterior entrance, were recently remolded (flat screen TV, furniture), are a “typical” mid-class size, contain a small refrigerator, no microwave, and two queen beds. Outside the bath/toilet room is an area that serves as a combination clothes closet, sink (single, not double bowl), and dressing area that can be divided from the bedding main room with a drawn curtain. The main large pool area is excellent with a Mayan theme, large hot tub, snack and drink bar, small arcade, and bathrooms with changing facilities. There are several other pools in each section that are simply pools without other amenities. There is an on-site laundry room. The Pepper Market restaurant is a cross between fast food/counter service and a buffet with drink service. I thought the Pepper Market was very good, but not great, in both food quality and variety. Bell services, front desk, housekeeping, and concierge serves were always handled well – no problem. The hotel is very centrally located on the Disney property and it was never more than a ten minute drive to anyplace. I only used the bus service a few times and it worked very well. Overall, it was an excellent choice for a family Disney stay and I would certainly stay here again.

I have visited DisneyWorld 21 trips since Oct. 1971 and this resort so far was the best. I is a very large resort but the children were so busy looking at the beautiful surroundings we did not mind the walk. The rooms were clean and the queen size beds were extremely comfortable. We were in Casitas 2, very quiet and the view was lovely. The children gave the main pool and slide two thumbs up, my son said it was the best birthday gift ever. The resort was decorated beyond imagination and the staff and food was great. The food was pricey but the Philley Cheese Steak sandwhich was awesome. Please don't pass this resort up during the Holidays, you will not be let down.

Our stay was not what I would have expected from Disney. We traditionally stay off Disney property and walk in, but were given an opportunity to stay at a Disney resort. We were really looking forward to a magical experience.

We arrived at the Orlando Airport at about 8PM. We didn't step in to our room until 10:30 that night. The "Magical Express" which took us from the Airport to the resort was neither magical nor express. They didn't leave the Airport until the bus was filled completely, then stopped at four other resorts before ours.

After a gentleman who spoke little English checked us in, he proceeded to ask if we drove or rode the bus. We told him we rode the bus. He threw away our parking permit, clearly understanding we didn't drive. He proceeded to pull out a map and give us what turned out to be driving directions to get to our room on the opposite side of the resort. We verified we were supposed to take sidewalks all the way around like that... he was certain that was how we went. After we ran out of sidewalk, we turned back and found the proper way to get to our room.

We then ordered two sub sandwiches via their roomservice menu. Fifty-five minutes later, our food arrived at our room.

The next night, our door stopped functioning. We were locked out, so called the front desk. They offered to send a runner out. Twenty minutes later, the runner had not arrived so I called back. They said it would be best for us to just walk to the front desk (15 minutes away) to get new keys. While I was complaining to the manager, the runner arrived and discovered our keycard reader had failed and needed to be replaced.

The room itself was fine. It was clean and spacious enough for our family of four. It was unfortunately five minutes from either bus stop and 15 minutes from the front desk, dining, or the convention center. It took about a half hour of waiting for a bus and riding the bus to get to any of the amusement parks.

Internet access was via plug-in jacks and cost $10/day. There was no wifi available outside the main building. Sprint cell phone service was marginal; our 3G card was not useful.

Bring your walking shoes and be prepared for plenty of waiting if you plan on staying at this resort! I would recommend staying at a less expensive hotel off Disney property. The other hotels are just as convenient, likely nicer, and just as close to Disney parks.

We stayed four nights at the Coronado Springs in Ranchos 7B and it was a great room right beside the pool. It was our first visit to Disney World and unfortunately our first impression was not what I expected. The three staff we met while registering did not smile once. Also, our room had no coffee, no shampoo, and no lotion, just conditioner, which made us wonder whether it had been used. Now, before you think we were unhappy with our stay, let me just say all of this was more than compensated during our stay. We received 8 bags of coffee when we asked, several shampoo, conditioners, and lotions (a bit of an overkill, but appreciated the quick service once we told of the problem) and the manager provided complimentary transportation when we needed it. But I'm getting ahead of myself...

Our room was right beside the quiet pool - a bit far from El Centro, but well worth it when the kids wanted to go swimming in late afternoon before we headed out for dinner. There were never more than 4 people in the pool including my two daughters! Bus stops were all within easy walking distance and the furthest park (MK) was only about 15 minutes away. Being the slow season, we only waited a few minutes for buses during our entire stay. The restaurants all had good food - we ate breakfast every morning at Maya Grill which had a nice buffet and had a couple of lunches at Pepper Market which had a nice variety of choices. Not the best food we had a Disney, but certainly quite good.

True Disney service showed up when we needed to get from Coronado Springs to the Swan to catch the Disney Cruise Line shuttle to Port Canaveral. There are no buses that go directly to the Swan, and we weren't allowed to bring luggage on them anyway. The bell service at the hotel would have transferred our luggage, but only in the afternoon and our shuttle was leaving the Swan at noon. We spoke with the manager and transportation was arranged for all four of us along with our luggage in a van driven by one of the Coronado Springs staff. It was great, quick service. We offered the driver a tip and he refused - twice!

Overall, the little time we spent at the resort was great.
