“Mostly great, a few dissapointments”
Reviewed January 1, 2005

we have stayed at quite a few of the disney resorts. Coronado being the only other moderate we stayed at besides Port Orleans.
I think most Disney resorts offer a superior vacation experience than most in terms of theming and offering a unique experience.

Having recently vacationed in Mexico before this trip, i found Coronado Springs to bring back memories of Mexico for me. The resort is beautiful, grounds are landscaped nicely. There's even a beach area with hammocks.

My kids loved the pool and playground area. Overall we were happy here with the following complaints: bathrooms are way too small. We stayed at the Royal Pacific one night and the bathroom at that resort is 3 x the size of CS. the shower head is cheap and has no water pressure. water was warm at best, not hot

There was no food/beverage service during out entire stay at the snack stand near the pool, even though we were assured there would be. We bought refillable mugs thinking we could get refills near the pool (since we were in Rancheros) so that was a waste of money since we didn't want to walk all the way to the Pepper Market every time we wanted a beverage.

It's quite an ordeal to get a refill at the market anyway. you have to wait for a worker to give you a slip and then you're allowed in, then you have to wait in line for the cahsier to see your slip at the end. much easier to refill at other resorts. Also, didn't include hot cocoa, which i thought was stupid, my dauther was very disapointed.

The person that checked us in was incompetent. took forever! then he insisted we wait while he retrieved some crayons, even though we really didn't want them, only to return empty handed after 10 mins because he couldn't find any. I feel disney is going downhill a bit. They seem to be scrimping where they shouldn't be (no longer have bottles of lotion or body wash, just a bar of soap and one tiny bottle of shampoo for 4 people.)

overall, we enjoyed out stay with a few problems but would probably not stay here again.

We recently stayed here during Christmas vacation and had a great stay. The Christmas decorations were wonderful and we took lots of pictures. The staff was very helpful and answered any question we had. The busses to and from the parks etc. were great. I just can't say enough good about this place. WOW!!!!!!!!

It was a vacation well worth the money we spent for Disney. My mother, son and myself were amazed by the size of the resort. It was gorgeous. The room was of ample size and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in Cabana 9a which was a smoking block. We paid for a standard room and we got a parking lot view. We only spent time in the room for either a nap or a night for bed so it didn't matter to me. The only issue I had was our maid. She "cleaned" up the room as to new towels and make the beds but that was about it. The room could have really used a good spray since it was a smoking room. It was really musty smelling since my mother is the only one who smokes and it bothered her. She mentioned it to the maid and she said do you want to talk to the manager. The rest of the employees we came into interaction with was great. If you want to be centerally located to the dig site and not to far from El Centro ask for the cabanas area. They do have the little carts running throughout the property but we didn't mind the walks. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday trip 12/18-12/23 at Disney's Coronado Springs resort. Next time we go we're going to try another Disney resort to get a new opinion as we've stayed a the Grand Floridian, Beach Club and Yacht Club. It never hurts to try something new!

Some of the negative reports had put me off a little but these were soon washed away upon check-in. We were checked-in by a lovely lady who said our room was ready (just before 12 noon) and that we would love it. We were in Casitas 4 (just 3/4 minutes walk from the main building) on the top floor. The rooms are typical Disney, nice but the walls were a bit thin (in line with other Disney hotels we have stayed in) but did not cause a problem. We overlooked the lake towards the Swan/Dolphin and MGM Studios. All the resort is beautiful and we personally did not feel it was so big you had to walk miles. It took us around 20 minutes to walk around the whole lake and we did so everyday because it was just so beautiful. If you do not want to walk there are little golf carts driving around which the driver regularly stops and asks if you would like a lift (this was our experience every day). The bus service was excellent and the buses never full (apart from a couple of hiccups with timing of buses which we advised the manager of and it was soon rectified). We ate at the Maya Grill Restaurant twice and each time received excellent service and food, we also ate at the Pepper Market Food Court and although the food was very good (freshly cooked), we found it to be a bit loud for our liking, but I'm sure others would find it fine. Overall we found the resort to be beautiful, housekeeping and all other services were excellent and could not be faulted. Coronado Springs is now our favourite Disney resort and has put some of the other Disney resorts where we have stayed before in the shade.

Our family of 4 stayed at Coronado Springs over Thanksgiving week. We really enjoyed the room and the kids loved the Dig Site pool. The food court was confusing at first but had a good variety of food. A little pricey, but it is Disney. The busing was very convenient back and forth to all of the parks.

I'll make it brief and to the point: The grounds are very very nice. Very well done and very well maintained. The pool area is also very nice. Yes, the grounds are huge! Because it was November and only 75-80 degrees (and because we did not have our kids with us) the walk to the pool was not bad.

The rooms on the other hand are not worth what you pay. We got a discounted rate because of the convention I was attending. I would not have been happy if I was paying $160 for a standard issue hotel/motel room. The rooms are OK sized, the decor is OK, the beds were OK, but the pillows were horrable! Not worth the $$. Maid service was less that what should be expected at a moderate level resort.

Bottom line, for what you are paying you should be getting more.

We had previously stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort at Disney and learned from that experience which made this more pleasant at Coranado Springs. Rule 1 is that if your staying in the less expensive rooms, Ranchos for example, the view isn't worth the long hike from the bus station or parking lot with your arms full of luggage and purchases. The outdoor access hallways keep you from wanting to sit outside your room, and the window view when seated is blocked by the rail. I suggest a first floor room, near parking and the bus. The rroms are aceptably clean and decorated in cookie cutter Disney fashion which isn't a knock at all. They look like typical motel rooms, nothing more or less. But, you don't go to Disney to sit in your room, do you? The pool areas are nicely done and even big people can enjoy them and the water slide. The hot tubs are typically overcrowded and what looked like human soup was something I avoided. Not very appetizing to me. Plenty of towels and lounge chairs were available and they have a great beach volleyball court. Getting around was either a long but pleasant walk or flagging down a golf cart as it approached. Food as always with Disney was overpriced so if you can, stock up at the Winn Dixie on route 535 for your snacks and beverages then load up a foam cooler or the fridge (also a good place to find cheap meals if you have a rental car. All in all we had 5 good days here and found it to be a good value if you get the right price (around $100).
