What a fantastic resort. When we started thinking about our Disney trip there were two places that we were considering on staying at: Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort or Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Our travel agent suggested the Coronado because it was one of her favorite places to stay. We decided to book this resort and we are soooo glad we did. Our flight arrived at MCO at 8:20 am. Magical Express wisked us away very quickly to the Coronado. We did use the luggage service provided by Disney (with no problems). Upon arriving, we were pleasantly suprised that our room was ready. We stayed in the Ranchero section of the resort. It was a good walk from the Main Building but this did not bother us. The landscaping at this resort is absolutely beautiful. We have traveled to many different locations and stayed in some really nice places but this by far is the nicest place we have stayed at. We knew going into this trip that we would be walking far to whatever building we stayed at. If you are considering a stay here, do not let this discourage you. There is internal transportation that bell services will gladly provide (by an extremely large golf cart. This was fun! Our kids really got a kick out of it!) Also, you can catch one of the Disney busses at the resort and it will drop you off at a bus stop near your building.
Now for the room: We were in building 7A on the bottom floor. Corner room. The room had two queen size beds. The room was clean and inviting. We were well stocked every day with towels and soap, shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, etc. The Mousekeepers are scheduled to clean the rooms between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. We left early every day we were there and never saw our Mousekeeper. But every late night return to our room, we were welcomed by a clean room. In the room there are two nice leather ottomans by the window, a large desk and chair, a huge flat screen TV, frig, dresser, coffee maker, ice bucket, large mirror, large wooden doors that seperate the bathroom area from the room (this was nice to have for privacy while getting ready in the morning), a nightstand, ceiling fan, plenty of lighting, one large sink, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, safe, luggage rack, plenty of room to hang your clothing, door length mirror, seperate tub/shower and toilet from sink area. The shower had great water pressure. I can not stress enough how clean the room was.
I have read reviews about this resort and I have to say we had such a wonderful experience here. People have commented on the walking. Yes, you can do a lot of walking here but that is the beauty of the resort. After a long day at the parks, we didn't want to have to walk to far to our room. But we did not have to. There are four bus stops in the resort. Our bus stop was directly behind our building across the parking lot. Only one day did we have trouble with the bus. We waited over 30 minutes for a bus but that was not the resorts fault. The bus had difficulty with its air conditioning and was running behind. We did ride that bus to Epcot and boy was it hot! Thank goodness that Epcot is so close because that could have been a real ugly trip if longer! The busses are schedule to pick you up every 20 minutes but there were times we waited only 5 minutes and a bus was there.
Now for the pool:
My children had an absolute blast here. The pool is very large with a fantastic water slide. There are pool activities every day on the hour and at 9:00 p.m there is a dive in movie. We watched Peter Pan and The Adventurers Down Under. Each night it is a different Disney Movie. Plenty of lounge chairs and tables all around the pool. There is also a handicap chair lift to enter the pool (also one for the hot tub). Several showers to rinse off at. There is a neat playground next to the pool, a sand volleyball court, and extremely large hot tub. I am pretty sure this is the largest one of all hot tubs in the Disney Resorts. There is a small arcade next to the pool. If you would like something to eat or drink while lounging at the pool, there is a very nice (large) pool bar. Restrooms with showers/changing area is right next to the arcade and pool bar.
I will be writting a seperate review for the Pepper Market because I feel it deserves its own review. Our experience eating here was fantastic and I want to give it its just rewards too! The gift shop was very large and had everything you could imagine. Cafe Rix was also very nice and convenient to have. I will also write a seperate review for them too!
The staff at this Resort are very nice and accommodating. Everyone had a smile on their face and were more than happy to help us in anyway they could. Never met one staff member who was unfriendly.
We had such a great time that we have decided that this is where we want to vacation next year. Two years ago we stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter and were very happy with our stay. But I can honestly say that this Resort beat them out 100%. Don't get me wrong, Port Orleans has it own type of charm but when I arrived at Coronado Springs, I felt like I was going to be staying at a 5 star Resort. I felt like I was going to stay at one of Disney's Deluxe Resorts. Everything is here: a health club, beauty salon and spa, jogging/walking trails, a main theme pool and three quiet pools, laundry facilities at each complex, room service, internal transportation, busses to get you where ever you want to go, boating and biking rental, luggage service, airline check-in, a sit down restaurant, counter service food court, a cafe', gift shop, etc., etc., etc.
If you are leary about this resort, don't be. We had such a fantastic experience here. Just know going in that this is a LARGE Resort. But it is do-able. If you don't want to walk far from the main building, request the Cabanas or Casitas. There are buildings closer to the main area but they are farther from the main pool. Rancheros are the farthest away from the main building but the most quietest area. Also, during our stay there were several conventions going on. This is a convention resort. Hollywood Vibe was here for their Nationals. They had an extremely large group and following but we did not even know they were at the resort. We saw a few dancers but the resort was not effected by the large group of conventioners.
Disney's Coronado Springs is an outstanding property and we wlll be back next year. Thanks for a wonderful stay and memories that will last a life time.
