We stayed in the hotel for a week in October and were very pleased with our choice. The hotel is extremely convenient for many of the DIsney parks by car (Epcot, Hollywood Studios, the water parks and Downtown DIsney) and the only park it is less convenient for - Magic Kingdom - is best accessed by Disney bus anyway.
The grounds are compact, very well maintained and boasts a great pool - esp for the kids. The eating choices are poor but the hotel is near enough to Downtown DIsney and Port Orleans Riverside for a better selection.
The rooms are adequate rather than outstanding. Beds were comfortable although the maid service left something to be desired - passable rather than clean. The fridge was handy.
Did the Disney Dining Plan and found if you book ahead (way ahead!) it is great.
Would return to the hotel for the compact size of the resort, location and value for money. Just don't expect paradise.

We stayed at POFQ from November 16-21st, there were 3 of us traveling, myself, DW and the 13 year old boy. We requested a standard room with 2 beds. Overall, our trip was not as fun as it could have been, but that's for another board.

At first we were put in Building 1, room 1235, which had a sort of river view. Our luggage took 3 hours to get to our room, so I would recommend not letting Magical Express get it at the airport to deliver later. Upon arrival, we noticed that the room as not particularly clean. There was mold in the bathroom along with long hair from a previous occupant in the tub and, uck, on towels. The sheets had holes in them. While I thought maybe this was the old time New Orleans experience, DW was not impressed. There are no 2 queen rooms, so we were in a double bed, and we like our space at night so this was also a drawback. That night the ceiling fan rattled like it was going to come out of the ceiling, and our upstairs neighbor flushed their very loud (all are loud) toilet what seemed every 15 minutes, keeping DW awake. So, in the morning I requested that we be moved to a 3rd floor room somewhere else that didn't have the problems we noticed. The front desk staff readily accommodated the request, but more or less said we had to move our own stuff unless we wanted to wait until Bell Services could get around to it.

We packed our things and moved over to building 3, room 3347 which was closer to the main building, but our room now had a view of a parking lot. However, it was clean and other than a neighbor prone to coughing fits was quiet for the rest of the trip. The room was identical to the other one. The air system worked fine, we had good water pressure and it appeared that they have done something to lessen the swampy smell and taste of their water from our last trip. The TV only has a few non-Disney stations, but does have front inputs if you bring a portable DVD. We were usually exhausted by the end of the day so it didn't matter much other than checking the weather.

Check out was really easy, as we did the express option. Magical Express required our bags by 11 am for our 3pm flight, so we had to get packed early to use the resort airline check-in. Also ME leaves 3 hours before your flight so we had 2 hours to kill after we passed security so if we have a later flight next time we may send the bags but take a cab. We didn't have to stand in line at the airport except for security, which was convenient.

Resort Amenities

Pool - looked nice, we had record cold so didn't use it.

Food Court - Small, but food was decent. Soda still tastes funny, I think it's the water - all Coke products throughout the property (including the parks). We got the mugs, but didn't use them enough to justify the cost - convenient though. If not on the meal plan, prices are just a hair above reasonable. Lunch for 3 would run around $45.00 or less.

Gift Shop - Disney is a shopping mall with rides, so we only used the gift shop for necessities, which it had what we needed.

Lounge - Intimate, but expensive. $8.75 for a hurricane, $6.50 for a draft Abita. Entertainment from Wednesday - Saturday.

Water Taxi - This was a nice touch, we had several excursions to Downtown Disney so we used the boat a couple of times - a pleasant 15 minute trip, unless it's 40 degrees...

Bus Service - there is only one bus stop at POFQ compared to four at POR. Depending on where you're going, you may have to sit through the other resort stops. We were really lucky, and never waited long for a bus, and most we took didn't go through POR, but when they did it adds 10 minutes to your trip at least.

Staff Friendliness - mixed. I believe we have had better overall service previously, but still above non-Disney hotels.

So, overall it was an okay resort, but we probably wouldn't stay there again. I have stayed at all the Moderates now, and have to say that Coronado Springs was probably the best experience I have had - but it's a huge resort and that presents it's own issues. Feel free to e-mail any questions.

Having stayed at the POP, Carribean Beach and Coronado Springs prior, I must say that the small size of the French Quarter made it the most enjoyable out of the bunch.
Even for the great price, I did not enjoy the POP (way too big, and made me feel a bit too economical).
The private hot tub is a real nice touch to the pool scene!!

Have been to Florida twice previous but never stayed in a Disney hotel.Decided Port Orleans was better for us than Pop Cetury as my children are older. The rooms were lovely basic but very clean and well situated about 3 minutes walk from our rooms to the dining area and gift shop. The pool area was well maintained a decent size with a laundry (very handy). I found the transportation to the parks pretty regular with an added bonus of the boat to Downtown Disney. All the staff were really nice which is what helps a lot towards an enjoyable holiday. Were glad we stayed at the French Quarter as it was a lot smaller(more compact than Riverside). If we ever return to Wdw would definately consider staying at POFQ as although its classed as a moderate hotel in my opinion its slightly higher.

My husband and I recently got back from our honeymoon at Walt Disney World. When planning our trip, we knew we wanted to stay in a moderate resort but we weren't sure which one. After speaking with a Disney associate, we decided on the Port Orleans French Quarter. We wanted to stay in a hotel that was quiet and romantic for our honeymoon and we couldn't have picked a better hotel!!! I absolutely fell in love with the French Quarter the minute we walked in. The atmosphere there is very laid back and it is just beautiful!!!

We got our room keys and went up to our room which was surprisingly close the the main entrance so we were very happy. The room was adorable. It was very cozy and clean. It also had a small refrigerator which was very nice to have. There were two sinks so we each had our own which was nice. It was just a really nice room for the price.

After the first day, we made our way down to the food court area and the we were very impressed. You could get pretty much whatever you wanted and the food was very good. The staff was very friendly throughout the hotel and everyone was very accomodating. The front desk gave us Just Married pins and every castmember that we saw congratulated us. It was such a magical experience!!!!

The pool was amazing with a huge dragon slide draping over the whole pool. We didn't go in during the day because we were in the parks but we went over a couple nights and it wasn't crowded at all. Very relaxing!!! And just behind the pool area the riverboats that go over to Downtown Disney and Riverside. It was so nice to be able to take a nice boat ride over to Downtown Disney instead of one of the buses.

We had an amazing honeymoon that we will remember for the rest of our lives!!!! Walt Disney World is one of the most amazing places you could ever visit and I would definitely recommend staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter on your next trip!!!!!
