Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

The French Quarters was a great moderate hotel. Loved the beignets, the quiet peaceful resort, the convenience of the ferry ride to DWTN Disney and the pool. Our room was very clean, had two queen beds, closest location to the main building and on the second floor. We had a wonderful trip overall. We loved the towel animals everyday. We will definitely come again : )

Let me start by saying, this was our first stay on disney property and now I have no intention off staying off site if we go to WDW again. The resort was perfect. Not huge like many of the other resorts appeared to be so everything was easy to get too, food court and buses and boat to downtown disney. The room was large enough for the two of us with two double beds. We were able to see the epcot fireworks from outside our room. I would definitely recommend requesting a river view room. The theming was In great detail and the grounds were kept in great condition. All in all a fantastic stay!

My second stay at Port Orleans, first at French Quarter. The resort is beautiful and small which I enjoyed!! The rooms are just fine. I really like the queen beds for sure!! Service is lacking here. Phone did not work, called and the front desk and they were not phased and did not even offer to fix it. Computers down at check out and again no one even cared. You could stand at the front desk and no one would even look at you. We were the only ones there one evening and just had a quick question. The desk people all had blank looks on their faces, looking down as if hoping we (the customer) would disappear. Bad front desk service for sure!! Not how I expected to be welcomed or treated during our stay. The workers at food court were very nice and actually smiled! Food however was terrible. Pastry offered at bakery was very good! Breakfast was fair, but I would not recommend lunch or dinner at ALL. Dried up and tasted bad!!!!! The workers at the gift shop were very nice and helpful. House keeping and front desk people need work!! Left an envelope with money for our housekeeper every morning, but when left a request for extra towels with our tip, that request was not fulfilled. Left a little note one morning to ask for a towel animal for my Dads birthday. That evening we found a small face cloth snake with pink ribbon on it. The note we SECRETLY left with our request was left attached! Pink for our Dad? And attaching our note kind of deflated the surprise for him! Other resorts on other stays left little surprises everyday for us, guess that isnt done here?! The resort is beautiful but staff could smile and pretend to want to help us or want to make our stay special. I sort of expect better service than a Super 8....Disney wants us to stay on its property and we should expect something more for doing so. I realize we did not book a deluxe resort, but I did expect a little better service at a"moderate" resort. French Quarter could kick up the service at this beautiful resort.

Loved: beignets, grounds, poolside fun, watching "Frozen" on the lawn, bus to parks, boat ride to Downtown Disney, and short walk to Riverside's pool.

Didn't Care For: dated cafeteria decor, gaudy plexiglass sculptures

I stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter with husband and daughter. We enjoyed our stay! The room had pretty basic amenities (it is after all a moderate resort) and traditional decor, but very comfortable, with all new linens and impeccably clean. The entire resort is incredibly well maintained, from the lush gardens to the freshly painted wrought iron railings. At the cafeteria they make you fresh beignets to order, and the general store has a decent selection of snacks, toiletries, and souvenirs.

We were pleased with Magical Express, Disney's bus transportation to the parks, and the boat to Downtown Disney. Those reviewers complaining about the room rate should not forget that the super-convenient transport is part of the deal, which they would not get if they stayed offsite. I did my math and found that Port Orleans was actually a good deal for us, and no hassles with renting a car and trying to figure out how to get around!

Some nice touches: being greeted upon arrival with carnival beads by a MC in colorful clothes; concierge help with Fastpass+ booking; organized poolside games for the kids; and movies on the lawn every night. Things that I would change: the cafeteria with the awful hanging heads, and the plastic alligator sculpture on the promenade.

The pool with its spectacular serpent slide was one of the reasons I booked at French Quarter, since water park was not in the plans. The pool did not disappoint - although my daughter ended up liking the pool at Riverside's Ol' Man Island even better! Their slide is a bit longer and curvier, the theme less gaudy, and the hot tub right next to the pool. Also Riverside's pool was hopping late into the night, while the one at French Quarter was quiet. Riverside in general gave a more vibrant impression with its marina, restaurant, nicer cafeteria, and large arcade. Vive la difference and to each its own! Luckily we got the best of both worlds - we were in building 7, which is the closest to Riverside, and the walk to their pool was only a couple of minutes further than our pool.

Room Tip: Building 7 for offers closest walking distance to Port Orleans Riverside's restaurant and pools.

Our family spent a week at the French Quarter when we were at Disney World the first week of April. This is one of the Disney's smallest resorts and was very nice. Our two connecting rooms were very clean, faced the river, had two queen beds, a curtained dressing area, and were roomy. The staff kept the grounds very clean. Our grandchildren enjoyed the pool, arcade, the carriage rides along the river, and the boat ride to Downtown Disney. The nightly Disney movies were great also. We had the meal plan and were pleased with the restaurant's variety of meals. The only negative was the whirlpool that was filled with kids each time we wanted to use it. When we bring the other two children to Disney we will definitely stay here.

Room Tip: Building five faces the river, has a walking path with benches, and was very quiet but still close t...

Having stayed at many of the Value resorts, it was nice to finally stay in one of the Moderates again. French Quarter is a charming property... at night it's relaxing to hear the clip clop of the horse drawn carriages passing by, and the reflection of the lamp lights in the walk ways. I love having a ceiling fan in the room, which is great for those warm Florida evenings.

The Float Works restaurant was great, the beignets were straight out of New Orleans!

We have stay here several times it seems as though Disney is getting a little overpriced for what they have to offer. Front desk check in staff was not very welcoming and not willing to help with finding us a nice room. We were hoping to get a king bed on,y 2 of us in the room but she made sure to point out they cost more and proceeded to show us the pamphlet with current prices! I know the hotel had many unoccupied rooms. Whenever we stay at an upscale hotel they always do their best to accommodate any requests not so in Disney they act like they are doing you a favor by paying and staying at their resort a little sad to see the direction Disney is going I don't think that is what Walt had in mind.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room gives you. Little more room if they will give you one!
