I couldn't wait to stay here with my family after reading all the great and not-so great reviews. I'm glad we choose it. We had a first floor room in building 5 facing a grassy lawn which turns into a movie theatre every evening. It was a great way to get our 5 year old to calm down after a busy day at the parks. And there was rabbits that came to view the movie as well. We loved the atmosphere of the place and enjoyed the scenery in every aspect. Although we ran out of time to try the horse and carriage ride, it looked like a lot of fun. The restaurant was only ever busy in the mornings, but we never had a problem getting a table. The buses came quite often, and our longest wait was probably 10-15 minutes. This is a perfect resort for size. After walking all day at the parks, everything was close and didn't take long to get to at all. Having the free dining plan was a bonus, although we only really ate breakfasts here and snacks, both were just fine. The boat cruise to downtown was perfect. 15 minutes is all it took, and we were even allowed to leave our baby sleeping in the stroller as I was afraid they would have made us take her out and then risk waking her up. On our way to the parks every morning, they handed out a different colour beaded necklace, just to add more of the New Orleans feel. We had our room cleaned every second day, but the maids were great about leaving fresh towels if we asked. Having a fridge in the room is also a bonus, cold drinks to start the day at the park and to come back to. We would defiantly recommend this resort, and when we go back we will stay here instead of trying a new place. See you there!!

Room Tip: Building 5, facing the grass, was quiet and ground level is perfect with young ones in a stroller.

On our most recent trip to Disney we chose the Port Orleans French Quater because of our love for New Orleans. Over the last several years we have stayed at many of the Disney resorts, this one was on par with their moderate price hotels it was comfortable and very well maintained, would not expect anything less from Disney. We like the fact that we can park our car when we arrive and not get back in untill it is time to go home. From the Port Orleans you can take a bus to any of the parks or to the downtown area or there is a ferry available to downtown, that was the option we chose it was a nice short ride to downtown my only complaint was that it only runs untill 11:30 so we opted for a taxi back instead of waiting for a crowded bus. Overall we were happy with our stay and would stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a room close to the river which was a short walk for the ferry.

First time at a Disney Hotel (although stayed at one in Paris) in Florida, we have been before many years ago but stayed in a villa. I thought it would be nice for our 2 children (14 and 8) to stay Disney style and we were not disappointed. I love the laid back atmosphere at this hotel. The rooms were comfortable, we had everything we needed and the towels made into animals was a lovely touch! The food court was adequate to our needs, we ate there most days for breakfast, although it can be a bit repetitive after 14 days!, you can go down to Riverside which is literally 10 minutes walk and they have a better selection but it is also busier.
We never waited very long for a bus to take us to the parks and the staff always helped us when we needed a taxi (they are onsite). The boat to downtown Disney was a dream and the staff who operate them are so funny!! they obviously love their job and we went 3 times during the stay just for the entertainment on board!!!!
The pool and spa was great, we never had any problems finding a bed and this was in August, my son was unfortunately stung by a wasp (they seem to be having a problem this year due to the root beer in the refillable mugs) and the staff were great, very attentive to him.
Refillable mugs were a great idea but you could only fill them up in Port Orleons so if you are thinking you can do it in the parks then you cant, each park or resort has a different coloured mug, but nice idea anyway.
We had a lovely stay and were sad to leave but we will be back at some time in the near future.

Room Tip: We were upgraded when we go there - all rooms seemed to be pretty standard but we were opposite the...

After several stays @ Riverside we tried POFQ for the first time .
Same great boat transport as Riverside but with just 1 bus stop we felt that POFQ has the transportation advantages.
The dinning for breakfast was far less crowded than up river.
Had a 3rd fl corner river view room upgraded from Standard (anniversary request & room request fax got us that I believe)
The Magic Bands worked well for our visit after several problems with unlinked reservations , annual pass and Fast Past were resolved by CM's
standing nearby , who's job was resolving these MB problems.
I did all the linking online but for some reason , didn't stick when it came to working with the MB .

I have been to Disney tons of times and have stayed at all the resort properties. This one always is one of my favorites for a lot of reasons. The first thing any non first time visitor to Disneyworld should know is that you don't spend a lot of time in your room. Having this in mind you can save a ton of money with the moderate resorts and still have the features of the nicer properties that are there. The Moderates all have a slide at there pools which is the difference between the moderates and the value hotels. For whatever reason the food court at this property is just awesome compared to even some of the deluxe properties. When I go to Disney I go to eat as well so this ranks high with me. It has a sepertine slide that all kids go on over and over again at the pool. The property is always clean, very pretty in design, landscaping, and architecture. The bus isn't a mile away from your room and is centrally located to all the parks and Downtown Disney. I LOVE this property.

We just returned from our 5 days at the French Quarter, Mimi, Papa and 4 year old grandson. We all certainly enjoyed our time at this beautiful resort. Everything was kept very clean. We loved the smaller resort vs a bigger one that we have stayed in - Riverside once and Pop Century. Everyone was very helpful with any questions we had and a smile on every face, even with all going on around them.

Just a couple of things I would say needs to be addressed: The beds were a bit hard and did not seem like Queens to us. A nice choice of a King with a pull down for some who are coming with small children and would like a king bed.

The food was good and had enough of everything that was needed for the resort. A big meal we planned at the parks. There does need to be better house keeping in that area. I do realize that there are numbers of people using it, but some people designated to just keep it cleaned up would be nice.

We had a 3rd floor corner room in building 6 and it was great. We would definately return to this resort. The delux resorts are beautiful, but for the amount of time in them, I think this moderate is the way to go, especially when you get the food plan as a plus.

Room Tip: Fax to the resort a few day before coming to "ask" for a floor you may want, if you want a...

French Quarter is our fallback resort at WDW. It qualifies for the regular DDP when free dining is offered and it is the smallest resort on the property. This means that the buses are usually not as crowded as they can be at other resorts. The people are quite friendly and accommodating. The pool has a neat dragon-themed waterslide. And the cafeteria is a bit on the small side with limited choices, but is adequate.

The rooms are nice and clean, although it appears that they have neglected pillow replacement. Again, overall adequate is a word that comes to mind. For the price per night, I'd like to see a bit more space, but considering that the rate probably includes amenities that you may have forgotten about (i.e. magical express, buses, luggage service, etc), it is fair. And considering the unreasonable cost for most deluxe resorts, this is probably the best value for your dollar.

I will note, however, that it seems that the secret regarding this resort is out. This trip was not nearly as quiet as our last. The cafeteria was much busier and the buses were also standing-room only on a regular basis. The pool and hot tub were alive well into the late night hours. This is all very different from our last visit to this resort back in 2012 (also during free dining), where it felt like the resort was half-full at best. IMHO, it is still a better choice than Riverside as far as the overall crowd level and chaos...not to belittle Riverside, which is also a very nice resort and would also be a fine choice for a vacation. The staff indicated that our resort was close to 100% full and would be even closer the week after we left.

All-in-all, a really nice resort, especially if you don't care for the disorder that reigns supreme at the values.
