“would stay again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

we would stay here again. 2 adults , 2 boys age 6 and 9. we enjoyed being in a building near the pool. lifeguards were outstanding. pool has a nice slide. food is good, but we really enjoyed walking to nearby Riverside and eating the pasta there. it was way more than enough food. room was clean. really enjoyed the no worries of driving and riding the bus to theme parks and riding the boat to downtown Disney. if you are on the Disney quick service dining plan, you can use bottle water or tea, etc as a snack item. of course you will want to get 1 mickey mouse ice cream with the snack option.

We expected more from a Disney hotel, the grounds were nice, the water taxi, and the bus services were first class. It was however very disappointing with the so called cafeteria, which served poor food very poorly, and at Disney prices. We were compelled to use the Market Place for an eatery. The food there was good if somewhat pricy. This was our sixth visit to the Orlando area, in the past we have used an offsite hotel in Kissimmee, with a self drive car. The latter option we would use again if we travel to Florida in the future.
We felt like prisoners without our own wheels, but this was our grand-childrens first Disney visit, which they enjoyed, so at the end, and because of them we enjoyed ourselves, particularly as one of the children had been there for therapy for a brain tumour.

Very nice, well maintained grounds. Pool is nice. Small children enjoy the slide, but they will need to know how to swim...or the hotel will also supply a life jacket. The service and staff are great. The rooms are clean and quiet. They rooms are a little small for a family of 4, but you have little time in the room when you are in Disney World. Bus service to the parks was great.

Room Tip: The lower numbered buildings are closer to the lobby, pool, ans restaurant.

Hotel grounds were absolutely beautiful, if your a walker this resort is gorgeous to wander around. I give it a 10/10. The room was cleaned to high standard everyday, the Disney bus service came every 15 minutes and we never had a problem once getting onboard. The hotel has a "movie under the stars" every night at 9 which was really fun. The food court had plenty of variety and if you can get the Disney Dining plan do it! It saved us so much money! (Downtown Disney there is a tasty place to eat called Wolf Gang Pack Express - you can use your Disney Dining plan here and it's where we ate mostly).

Also they have different things going on around the resort so pick up a leaflet at reception with the timetable of activities.

The pool temperature was not to hot not to cold, not too busy either and the outdoor spa was so nice & relaxing after a long days walking.

Great atmosphere, clean quiet rooms and the boat trip to Downtown Disney make it all one of the best resorts to stay on. We went twice this summer and I had no hesitation in booking the same resort again after my first stay three weeks earlier. The food is inexpensive, average but good for a quick bite if you are hungry. We spent our time at the various theme parks so the fact this resort has no restaurant other than cafeteria style was just fine. Pool is beautiful, lots of room to swim, kids like the big slide and very well protected with lifeguards who take their jobs seriously. There is laundry on the sirte, hot tub, outside bar and patio area, arcade and gift shop. Rooms were cleaned everyday. Both our rooms had the riverview which is lovely.Buses to the various parks are quick and easy to travel back and forth on. We especially liked the boat ride over to Downtown Disney so we could enjoy and Earl Of Sandwich for dinner.

Room Tip: in room safe was a great feature. Riverfront rooms are very quiet and offer beautiful views and walk...

Most people are so consumed with the parks they forget about the Disney resorts. My family stayed at Port Orleans and we loved it. I recommend when planning a trip to take a day or two just to enjoy the resort and what it has to offer. The pool is by far one of the best features, especially if you have children. They played a Disney movie every night, s'mores by campfire and carriage rides (very expensive for the carriage ride). The food was pretty good as we had the dining plan. Our room was neat and clean. I would stay again and would recommend staying here to anyone.

Room Tip: Waterfront is a little extra but what a view!

My wife and I stayed here in July 2013 for 4 nights. Upon our arrival at around 8am, we were expecting to drop off our bags and head to the parks. We were pleasantly surprised when we informed that our room was ready!

Room

We stayed in Building 3 in room 3118, which is a corner room on the first floor facing the courtyard. The room was nice, clean and spacious. It was located close to the main building, dining hall and bus station. On our first night, we discovered that we forgot to pack toothpaste. Unfortunately, it took 3 calls to the front desk and about 1 hour before the toothpaste was delivered to our room. It was stated that they simply forgot about it.

Resort

The overall feel was relaxing and quiet. The pool and hot tub were nice. Buses to the parks run every 20 mins, and one time we did have to wait for 30 mins for a bus to Magic Kingdom. We noticed no large tour groups at this particular resort.

Dining Hall

Nice selections, and ice cream and other food were available until 11pm. It does get crowded in the morning as should be expected. The tables could have been cleaned a lot quicker. The cashiers were not as friendly as we have come to expect from the legendary Disney service. Friendly greetings were rare, and on one occasion, we were served a small portion of oatmeal in a large container by the server because she didn’t have a small container handy. The cashier rudely waved her hand at the container and asked us “What’s this”? Then she said she had to charge us for a large portion because it was a large container. What? So we had to go back and tell the server to find the proper small container-the server mumbled something incoherently....

We would stay again at this resort simply because it was so quiet and peaceful to come back to after a long day at the parks….
