“First Family Trip to Disney”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

Overall we enjoyed this Hotel on the Disney property. It was our dream to stay at the Floridian and it did not disappoint. If you are looking for a classic Disney this is the place for you - but be warned, its age does show. Staff was amazing and or kids loved dancing in the lobby to the band. While we were staying the beach was being renovated, however the 3 pools were enough to keep us busy. Loved that we could watch all the action from the Magic Kingdom (fireworks, Castle light show) right from our room.

Room Tip: We liked the rooms on the Lagoons so you could easily see the Magic Kingdom

What a beautiful room, with the largest bathroom I have had on a Disney Property. At least 4 times the size of other deluxe resorts. The room was tastefully decorated, with plenty of room for this family of 5, complete with a day bed. The concierge check in level went smoothly. They are now able to check you in on an ipad directly in your room. The offerings at the club were good. The hours are strictly enforced. Once the hour comes that its scheduled to close ( 7pm), by 7:02pm, everything is taken away already by the staff. In their defense, the club is an open area, and does not have a set of doors that they can close like other club levels. That being said, some guests were standing on line basically, waiting for the food and / or beverage to be brought out.
While we enjoyed it, the monorail was down for maintenance and the weather was very rainy. The hotel itself is very beautiful, and the staff was helpful. The only turnoff was when we checked in, the bell hop, after loading our bags 2 feet onto the luggage cart, politely told us that her" interaction with our luggage end here, and she wouldn't be delivering it to the room, that would be a separate individual" Basically saying to tip her for loading our bags onto a cart. Which I silently refused. I would of course tip the person who delivers them to the room. To tip 2x for the same service is ridiculous. Pricey, but we definitely would stay again.

Beds are very uncomfortable with very rough sheets that created a rash on my daughter and I. You would think with all the money Disney makes, they would atleast give you a comfortable bed in a hotel that is very expensive.

We stayed in the Sugar Loaf Building. This is a concierge building where you get breakfast items, snacks throughout the day, appetizers at dinner and delectable deserts and beer/ wine etc in the evening. We were welcomed when we arrived by Richard. He is almost 90 and so friendly. Everyone is friendly and gracious. Our room was immaculate as always. The smell is amazing. Oh and did I mention everyone was friendly? There is not one thing I can find wrong with our stay. We come to Disney every year and this is my favorite resort. I do work extra to come up with the money as it is spendy but such a sweet endulgence!!

The creme de la creme!!! When you walj I to this resort you are walking back into the splendor of the old time with porcelin white and shiny gold everything. The furniture is true to genre, beautiful to look at but stiff to sit in. It is a large open area with shops and a wide lobby area. When you look up you see a chandelier that is capable of memorizing for days on end. Then you see several floors above of rooms. The second floor also houses a gift shop and Basin the soap store and the all famous Victoria and Alberts. The atmosphere is always friendly and professional. The scenery is beautiful and the walk in pool is fabulous. Every year my family and I have taken our annual family pic at this resort. We have tried a few of the other resorts bit this one always has the best background!

We had a refurbished room which was beautiful, it's expensive to stay here and we visited at a quiet time for parks but still it was at full capacity. It's a real treat and worth saving up for its a very special place with a wonderful atmosphere. We loved staying within the Disney bubble, so convenient, staff are so helpful and friendly and location couldn't be any better.

We have been a members of Disney's Vacation Club since 2004, and we were lucky enough to make our 5 night reservation at the brand new Villas at the Grand Floridian during New Year's December 30-January 4th.
First, the location of the resort is great- you have multiple methods of Disney transportation: a. the Monorail which stops right on the 2nd floor of the main building that will take you around the Seven Seas Lagoon, Magic Kingdom, and you can transfer to Epcot. b. The boat that will take you to Magic Kingdom and c. the usual bus service like every Disney Resort. You also can walk to the Polynesian resort and indulge in the glorious Dole Whips.
The new Vacation Club building is to the south of the main building, next to the Wedding Pavilion. There is a nice covered walkway to the main building. The grounds are well-maintained and the lobby is gorgeous. Everything is Mary Poppins themed with the penguin fountain and carousel horses. There are also wreathes and decorations throughout the resort for the Christmas season.
Our room surpassed our expectations. We've stayed at all resorts from All Star resorts to Bay Lake Tower. This room was by far the best room we've ever had. We had the one bedroom villa. There is no carpet in the living area, the kitchen had plenty of room and the seating area was generous in comparison to other vacation club rooms. We went to Target off property and stocked up on food for the week. The only thing missing from the kitchen is the oven. There was a full fridge and dishwasher. There is a pull out bed from the couch in the living room which was comfortable. There's also a bed that folds from below the TV (see pics) which is the perfect size for a child. The bedroom was large, comfortable. The bathroom was fantastic. The one sink to the master bedroom had a TV in the mirror, across from a large tub. The main bathroom had a HUGE walk-in shower with a ledge to sit. The rest of the bathroom had plenty of room. The best part? The balcony stretched the entire length of the room. It overlooked the walkway, monorail, and at night we can see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom.
The service was amazing- you are treated like royalty and every cast member you passed greeted you with a smile and a "hello." My boyfriend and I spent a lot of time just relaxing at the resort. We strolled the grounds in the evening, there is quick service in the main lobby and at the pools. Although you can't swim, the beaches have nice places to sit and see the water parade or the Wishes fireworks. You can rent boats as well from the dock. There's a pianist and jazz band in the lobby in the evenings.
We were absolutely spoiled with this resort. If you can afford it, it is definitely worth it.
