It's expensive (like everything at Disney), but.....my goodness, what a beautiful hotel. The customer service, the location, the amenities, and the physical appearance of the property were awesome. Plenty of activities going on around the hotel, while at the same time, you could hide away in peace and quiet and relax in the different corners of the property. Good variety of restaurants to choose from for all budgets. If you want to splurge a little, I don't think you could pick a finer property at Disney.

This was our 6th stay at the Grand Floridian and they exceeded our expectations yet again. When we arrived at the hotel our room had been upgraded to a mini-suite. They were overbooked due to a convention so they upgraded us at no charge. What a treat it was - it also included their concierge service which gave us access to breakfast and happy hour cocktails and snacks. We always love the convenience of staying at the Grand with the monorail system to the parks. The grounds are well maintained and everything is top notch - the Disney way!!!
The are doing some upgrades to the main pool and it was closed while we were there - which didn't bother us a bit. Its definetly a splurge, but well worth it!!

Have stayed here before and always a 5 star expierence. Now the main pool and the beautiful ground are surrounded by this 12 ft ugly wall. Main pool is closed so all guest cram into the kids pool area which is noisy with kids and clanging banging machines in the pools. Next to all this noise is the new building under construction so you now get back up alarms, drills, hammering, sheet metal cutting and tractor noise on top of that. Absolutely unbearable.

We booked a room with a view of the castle for my husband’s birthday & also received a military discount. We drove up at the same time their Magic Bus arrived, so there was a bit of a line at check-in, but it moved fast. Someone greeted us at our car (we did valet) & walked us in to check in. Our room was located in the Big Pine Section on the 4th floor. Our view was amazing. The rooms were equipped with two queen beds & a day bed. The bathroom had a large vanity area with two sinks. The rooms were clean & we did not have any issues with noise.
The first night we had room service with a cheese plate so that we could enjoy the firework show from our balcony. It was the best firework show that we have seen from Magic Kingdom.
The first night we ate at Narcoossee’s & decided to get the last seating so we could watch the fireworks from our room. Five minute walk from our room.
The next day we decided to rent a cabana, but went over to the Polynesian Resort because the GF’s main pool was under construction & they relocated their cabana’s to the smaller pool & they were too close to one another. We had a blast at the Polynesian’s cabana (second time renting there). We did come back to our pool & could not get a seat, so we decided to go over to MK for a couple of hours. We took the monorail over, but took the ferry back (wish you could walk to MK from GF). We had breakfast at the Grand Floridian Café & I would highly recommend the lobster Benedict. The second night we splurged & went to Victoria & Alberts. Wow, if you ever want to spend $$$, then this is the place to go!
All in all it was a nice resort, but it did seem to have a lot going on with the renovations of the pool & spa. I just wish they would have told us when we made the reservations & we would have stayed here at a later date. I would recommend this place because of all the amenities & how close it is to Magic Kingdom. I would like to come back to use the main pool.

Yes, the Grand Floridian is expensive, but some times the extra money is worth it. We took our 3 year daughter to the Magic Kingdom for the first time, along with our other 6 month old daughter. I had stayed briefly at this hotel a few years ago, and remembered how convenient it was to travel back and forth to the park. A quick trip by monorail and you're there. No trams, no long line for buses. Traveling with two very young children, I liked the idea of being able to go back and forth to the room easily for naps, a break, etc. So we splurged, although we did get a great deal on Expedia.

We were treated exceptionally from the moment we arrived. No issues checking in and they accomodated our special requests at the time of reservation for a crib and an adjoining room to other family members without having to ask a second time. We were taken by golf cart from the lobby area to our room, with a nice tour around the property (helpful for first timers).

The room was elegant and clean. Small, as per normal Disney standards, but comfortable. Two sinks in the bathroom, which is always helpful. The only problem I had was that the mini fridge kept freezing over, which turned our drinks frozen. I did not take the time to call and have it fixed, so I can't really complain as I didn't get them a chance to resolve the issue. The room was cleaned daily without issue. They also had turndown service. My daughter enjoyed coming into the room in the evening seeing her Minnie & Pooh dolls curled up by the pillows with a good night chocolate.

We ate dinner and breakfast in the Cafe. The food was good, the atmosphere family friendly, but the service was way too slow. The wait staff was prompt, but it took a good 30-40 minutes both time just to get our food once ordered. There is also a 24 hour quick service restaurant that worked well one morning. Our last day we ate 1900 Park Fair for the character breakfast. It was fabulous and not much more expensive than the regular breakfast at the Cafe. My daughter was able to visit with about 6 different characters while we enjoyed a full breakfast buffet that included anything you could possibly want.

There was some construction going on as they are renovating one of the pools and building an addition, but it did not interfere with the overall atmosphere. The hotel is just beautiful, well-kept, and provides a gorgeous environment with a kid friendly spin. They even had movies every night on the lawn, equipped with pillows and blankets. You can also enjoy the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom every night.

Since we were celebrating my daughter's third birthday, I asked the front desk if there was anything special I could do for her. They gave her a "Happy birthday" button with her name on it. Seems trivial, but everywhere we went, from the store cashiers, to wait staff, to people sweeping the streets in MK, every Disney employee wished her happy birthday by name. She truly felt like a Princess those few days. One staff member even had Goofy call her on the phone to sing Happy Birthday to her. Our waitress at the character breakfast brought out a birthday cupcake and gave her a souvenir Disney placemat. Sometimes it's just the little things that make a difference and put an explanation point on the whole experience. The Grand Floridian knows just how to do that.

Room Tip: We chose a lagoon view which is a little cheaper than the Theme Park view but still provides a beautiful look over the water.
