This was my 17th visit to WDW (been visiting since I was a small child and now have young children). We have stayed at nearly every WDW resort and the Grand Floridian is definitely one of the best. It is a beautiful facility with large rooms and great restaurants. We spent 3 nights at the Grand Floridian prior to departing on a Disney cruise. The property is presently undergoing some significant construction and renovations. The next Disney Vacation Club property is being built on the property and beginning mid September the main pool will be shut down for renovations. The hotel does need some updating to bring it up today's standards for a luxury resort. The pool area and especially the poolside bar/food service or lack thereof is an issue. The service is very spotty. We had a wonderful reception and greeting upon our arrival by the front desk, the concierges are all very helpful. We did encounter attitude with a bartender at the pool bar. Our four year old would have been run over by a bellhop driving a luggage cart if not for me grabbing them and pushing them out of the way. The other issue, which is not unique to the Grand Floridian, but is the Disney central reservation system. There is no way to contact the front desk or concierge desk directly. I had to spend 25 minutes on the phone transferred to numerous parties to try and change a dinner reservation and finally had to walk from our room to the concierge desk to get help. Disney will never be able to compete with the Four Season's of the world with this type of service. We are big fans of Disney and are actually DVC owners so I highly recommend this hotel. You just should be prepared to know that this resort is not up to the standards you receive at many other five star resorts. It has all the possibilities with some updating to the facilities (pool cabanas, better pools, etc.) and some significant training to improve service levels. The service we received on the Disney Dream really stood out after staying at the Grand Floridian.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the pool courtyard during construction and a room overlooking the lagoon or Marina to avoid the construction of the DVC.

We stayed one night here at Sugarloaf Key conceirge level. It was wonderful. The room was comfortable and clean, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was amazing! We did not even need to go to dinners or breakfast due to the wonderful food and drinks provided through the conceirge. We were able to spend some time relaxing by the beautiful pool, watched Wishes from the porch at Narcoosees and took in the wonderful music of the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra and the piano players in the main building. What a great way to start our trip, we LOVED the Grand Floridian!

We have been fortunate to have stayed at The Grand Floridian several times. It now feels like going home. This is an absolutely beautiful hotel with service to match. There are huge, fresh floral arrangements everywhere, and there's music in the lobby: a pianist or small orchestra to entertain. The lobby itself is stunning; several stories high, with a large stained glass ceiling in the center. There are several restaurants on property and it's a short walk to the monorail to connect to anywhere else in Walt Disney World. The front desk and concierge staff are excellant - truly concerned with making your stay an enjoyable one. The surrounding grounds are (I want to go there right now) unbelieveably beautiful in true Victorian fashion. The housekeeping ladies parade outside in the morning in their Victorian uniforms and look like they stepped out of Mary Poppins. Ducks swim in the pools, along with the guests at the other end and nobody seems to mind. There are a few gift shops - something for everyone and a spa if you have time. This is not an inexpensive resort, but you won't mind paying. Families seem to respect others and perhaps the feel of the Victorian era inspires appropriate behavior from most everyone or is it that people with proper etiquette are drawn here? This is the most magical place on earth to me.

Room Tip: Check room dimensions before you book to have enough space. Ask about views. If you can afford it, try the Concierge Levels - you have "private access" to those floors and food that magically appears for brunch or snacks in the common area .

We were very happy with our stay here. The hotel and grounds were beautiful, well maintained and clean. It's also the best location to Magic Kingdom 1st stop on the monorail there and 1st stop on the Ferry on the way back which is great if you have small kids. We stayed in the main building on the concierge level, the staff was very attentive and the service was great! The food was great, although not too much variety from day to day, except the evening hors d'oeuvres which were terrific, they also had wine, champagne, beer and desserts. Our room overlooked Magic Kingdom on the lagoon side, great view of the fireworks from our balcony at night! The room was clean and although we were happy, it wouldn't hurt to get new bed spreads and reupholster the couch with new fabric. The hotel has 3 pools, a large one, one with a waterfall and slide and one children's pool that closed for renovations along with the spa. My children were very happy with the pool with slide. When we come back to Disney I am sure we will stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a Magic Kingdom view, the kids will love it!

My Absolute Favorite Place To Stay In Disney World!! Simply amazing. Our view was of the marina. The atmosphere inside the main building is wonderful any time of year, but especially at Christmas time. I enjoy listening to the orchestra & pianist while enjoying a nice glass of wine. The Wedding Chapel is lovely.
