“Club Level Main Bldg.”
Reviewed October 5, 2011

My family has stayed at the Grand Floridian many times. It is a lovely hotel on the monorail and a direct transfer to the Magic Kingdom - 1st stop. Book early enough so you can secure a room in the main bldg. We were greeted outside by a cast member and taken directly to our room - no waiting on line at reception. There are many "outer bldgs." - my opinion, feels like you are staying in a different hotel on the GF grounds. Club level is an excellent choice if you are not interested in many character breakfasts - grab a quick bite and off you go. The food selection is limited but plentiful, enough to hold you over till lunch. For a once in a lifetime treat have dinner at Victoria & Alberts.

Room Tip: any room in the main bldg

This was our first trip to Disney and the Grand Floridian. I was impressed the minute we pulled up to the valet! We were greeted immediately and directed to our room. It was 1:00 PM and our room was ready even though check in is not until 3:00. Our room was clean and spacious enough for a family of four. I cannot say enough about the cast members and the service....truly top notch! We were greeted everywhere we went within the resort and the our daughter was always addressed as "Princess" which she totally loved!! :-) The food was great as well. 1900 Park Fare offered a very full buffet and Gasparilla's was great for quick service meals for both adults and children. The pools were neat and clean as well. Not once did we ask for any type of assistance and not receive it. Only thing I would suggest is free internet. We were able to get it but at a cost of $9.99 per day and for what you pay to stay here it should be included. Highly recommend this hotel for families with and without children!

We stayed at the grand this time as we have two young kids and thought the monorail would be perfect. The monorail was only the good thing.
1. The buses took a very long time sometimes upwards of 45 mins.
2.the paid Internet connection did not work
3.front staff were not knowledgeable
4.I called upfront the day before too get a pack and play and microwave were not in the room
For the amount I paid it would have been better to stay at a moderate resort the service was not what we expected.

It s not so close to the parks, it s not a five star but it costs like one, it s noisy, crowded, and the most incredible thing is that it has just one disney cartoon channel on TV that loops and loops again, so the children see the same cartoons at all times every day... and they are in Disney!! It is suppossed to have all the cartoons in the world...! Unbelievable! Even more, I ve been there three years ago and when we went back last year... we saw the same cartoons looping!!!!!!!! The late Walt must be really displeased to have created so many and the hotel shows just a few, and the same every day!
The Disney family and associates are not making too much effort to sustain what was once the great idea of Walt Disney. He wanted a magic kingdom and now it seems his family just want to make money. The monorail is good to go directly to magic kingdom and epcot but it doesn t work for the rest of the parks. So the advantage is only for these two parks and it s easy access for strollers and small children and it feels great when you are tired to arrive just inside the hotel. I ve been to the sugar loaf section of the hotel and to the main hotel and the executive level is quite convenient to take snacks for the kids.. and so.I found the sugar loaf building a lot more quiet and private. The character dinner restaurant is always full so book in advance, and the best character breakfast is at The Disney Beach Club Hotel. The Grand Flroidian has very good restaurant but children are not allowed..!!!!!!!! so, we didn t go!!! The rest of the restaurants are standard and the princess tea room is lovely. Pools and slides are ok but not much pool service available but lifeguard where always paying attention to the kids in the pool. I mean, please don t expect a 5 star hotel service, it s a 3 star the most, just expect to be a llittle closer to the parks in a nice, noisy, expensive hotel. Rooms are ok, clean, some have views of the castle and the fireworks, loved to find details such as mickey mouse blankets or lamps, or wall papers.... but bathrooms especially showers and bathtubs which small children use a lot, are definetely outdated and need renovation. I ve been to the Disney Animal Kingdom Hotel which I disliked ...a lot.. and also to The Disney Beach Club Hotel which is quite convenient, this one is the best hotel in Disney... the building is nice... valet parking is good, hope the service was better... Please fix the cartoon loop issue...!!!! that should be easy... and would show respect for children who do notice it s the same cartoon every single day... and add more choices...! Children should be the special guests... at least that would have been Walt s wish!!

Room Tip: The club level is quite convenient

Just returned from 5 nights at the Grand.  Our stay was terrific.  I followed a lead from someone on the Trip advisor website to ask for a room in the Boco Chica building #8.  I had booked a Lagoon view from my travel agent then called Disney to request the Boco Chica building with a king bed.  We were lucky enough to get #8435 where we could stand on the balcony and watch the MK fireworks & the Lagoon parade every nightl  Loved all the special touches that the staff at the Grand provided.  Birthday call, chocolates in the room nightly and for my birthday,  the towel animals.  All these things are done to make our stays special and I for one appreciate all of them.  All said worth the price.

Room Tip: Ask for Boca Chica

We have stayed in the concierge rooms previously at the Grand Floridian but as this was a birthday trip for my grandson, he wanted to stay in "the toaster" as he call the Contemporary. As most travelers have already given you great information, I'll focus on the differences between the 2 on the concierge level. Rooms larger (by far) with more storage at the Grand Floridian. We have always booked Magic Kingdom views and found the Contemporary room "appeared" closer and the fireworks better from our balcony. Food is definitely better at the Contemporary concierge spread with more choices for children and closer to all the concierge rooms. We were across the hotel at the Grand Floridian and a floor up and it was a hike. Concierge service itself better though at the Grand Floridian. Brought a cake back to our room one night and asked if one of the 3 concierges sitting around could store it for us and was told to walk it down to the bell services ourselves! Restaurant definitely better at Grand Floridian as is the pool areas for children and adults. Aside from the views and the concierge closeness and great concierge food choices, I would still stay next time at the Grand Floridian.

Hotel ls a bit pricey but it was a treat for the family. You are pampered. They gave us a complimentary upgrade to a one bedroom suite. Much appreciated. Also recommend the Polynesian if you wish a more reasonable price but less elegance. Love them both. The pool with its slide was much used by the children.
