“After an initial faux paux, it was a magical stay”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

We recently spent 6 nights at the Disney Yacht Club Resort. We were a total of 4 families, 15 individuals.

Our flight arrived well before check-in time. The Magic Express promptly picked us up at MCO and brought us to the resort. The front desk welcomed our group warmly and efficiently. We were offered the use of the pool and all of the amenities prior to check-in. We hung out poolside, enjoyed lunch and drinks from Hurricane Hannah's. We received a text when our room was ready. We went right up. Our luggage was delivered to the room as promised. The one disappointment was that the vanity area of our room was not properly cleaned. It was left in a very unclean state. It wasn't the first impression we expected. I called the front desk, and was told they'd send someone right up, and apologized profusely. We left the room and went about our day. I must admit, I questioned how clean the rest of the room actually was, and checked the bed linens and towels. All past my inspection.

Upon our return, I received a voice mail from the housekeeping manager detailing the steps she took to rectify the situation and a sincere apology for the state of the vanity. She said she inspected the rest of the room, and it had passed her inspection, but for us to feel free to call her directly if we needed anything at all. The room was immaculately cleaned each and every day of our stay.

The customer service was second to none. The front desk staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The same can be said about the poolside servers and the bartenders.

Transportation to wherever you need to go within Disney is convenient and efficiently operated.

We loved staying at the Yacht Club and would welcome the opportunity to stay there again.

Last year we stayed at the Beach club and loved it. This year we stayed at the Yacht club and loved that as well. Beach club is closer to epcot but yacht club has nicer balconies. We stayed at the club level at both and just loved the extra attention. All the cast members were just so nice! Betty went out of her way to find a pair of sunglasses that i left at the pool. I love the sand bottom pool and the slide is so much fun. My daughter and I even joined in the pool dance during the afternoon activies. They enhanced the fitness center to make it a little bit bigger. I think it still needs additional room since it was a bit crowded even in the early morning hours. Wonderful location. We were able to walk to dinners at Epcot, Boardwalk and the Swan.

We loved the Yacht Club!!! We were moved from the Beach Club to the Yacht Club after a few issues at the Beach Club so I would not recommend the Beach Club. The Yacht was fabulous! It is right next to the Beach Club so we were able to enjoy all of the ammenities that the Beach Club offered. The huge pool and waterslides are at the Beach Club, but It's located right next door to the Yacht Club. The breakfast/buffet at the Yacht Club was absolutely wonderful. Everything was fresh and well cooked. The Yacht Club is clean, feels like a newer resort, and the rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. Yes, we had to share the bus and boat ride with other hotels, but it wasn't a long wait. We were able to get everywhere in good timing. If you go to the Beach or Yacht Club, Jean works at the front desk and he's wonderful. If you need help scheduling dinner, tickets, etc, you should speak to Fernando or Chanda at the Conceirge. They're very helpful. The resort is walking distance to Epcot and very close to Hollywood Studios. We caught the ferry to both. Our favorite park was a toss up between Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Plan to return next year, but I don't think we'll be able to afford the Yacht Club. That's the down size. It's very expensive!

FYI: You can't go to Disney without taking a Disney Cruise. You have to book that separate, but a Disney Cruise is the best gift you can ever give your family!

Room Tip: You may want to stay at a room near the private pool. That's where we stayed on the fourth floo...

Pros: The hotel is beautiful. The staff is fantastic. Walkway to Epcot World Showcase. 15-20 minute walk to Hollywood Studios. Boats to Hollywood Studios. The pool is shared with Beach Club and it is exclusive to the guests of these hotels. Lots of activities, including nightly movies, campfire with marshmallows, and pool side games. Shared restaurants with Beach Club. Easy access to Boardwalk hotel restaurants. Beaches & Cream ice cream shop on site.

Cons: Shares bus with Swan & Dolphin, Boardwalk, and Beach Club resorts. Too many huge resorts on one bus together. No good place inside hotel for quick service breakfast, have to go to Beach Club, which isn't far but it can be when you are on the far side of hotel.

Next time we'll try for Beach Club.

We recently stayed at the Yacht Club for the second time. We love the location because we can walk to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and the Boardwalk. The big pool is a lot of fun and it's great to have the pool bar service from Hurricane Hannas. We also spent some time at the quiet pool on the other side of the building when we needed to do some laundry.

Unlike our previous visit the service at the front desk was not so good. Regardless of how much we spend on a hotel nobody should feel as if we are being inconvenient to the desk staff. I realize that there are logistical challenges filling rooms but we asked if there was a room with a day bed. We were told that they had a room ready without a day bed but that one was being cleaned with a day bed so we would have to wait. When we asked how long the wait would be we were told, "How should I know...it could be anywhere between 5 minutes to several hours". We requested a "water view" room. Ours was a first floor room with a tree blocking the view of the lake. We called the front desk asking if it was possible to select a room on an upper floor but we were told, quite abrasively, that there were no other rooms in the entire hotel and that our current room would have work. It just seemed that when we asked, politely, about rooms we were met with aggressive behavior. Not what we expected when paying more than $300 per night.

Also, valet parking is now $15/day. Seems steep when paying over $30

We have previously stayed at the Grand Floridian. Although we like the YC location we may go back to the Floridian looking for better service from the front desk.

Room Tip: If you want a water view I suggest you demand an upper floor.

I stayed here for 4 nights for a conference. This place is probably fine if you come here with your family to visit Disney World etc., but for a business trip and given the prices, it was underwhelming.

My room was overall fine in terms of size and cleanliness, appointed at a level that fell between 3 and 4 stars. The air conditioner was reasonably quiet, which I have found to be a rarity in the US.

Room service response times and quality were very good. However, like everything here, prices were definitely on the high end of the scale.

Not good was that the WiFi kept failing, possibly because it was overwhelmed with all the conference attendees trying to get on the Internet. The room safe was small and with a physical key, it seemed decades old. Maid service was so-so. Strange given the size of the resort (huge) was that there were only 4 elevators, all of them centrally located and thus far away from most rooms. There are staircases (this being a low-rise building, taking the stairs would be possible in principle), but these are hard to find.

It strikes me that this place is perhaps one of the most ecologically unfriendly places I have stayed at. Most lightbulbs were incandescent, as if CFLs or LEDs did not exist. Hallways and convention halls were chilled to a much lower temperature than necessary. Given the size of this place, that is a lot of unnecessary cost (ultimately passed on to the guests) and CO2 emissions. Disney needs to set its sights higher in terms of CSR; it is not enough just to create the illusion of a carefree world.

our first stay at the Yacht Club was a great experience. We were greeted at the door and welcomed by a smiling cast member. Having done on-line check-in keys etc were waiting for us pre-packaged at the desk and we were soon on our room looking out over the quite Yacht Club Pool. Decorations were nice and the beds ever so comfy (and most welcoming after a 10 journey). The bathroom was good with the usual supplies of Disney shampoo etc replenished everyday.

Having the Beach Club hotel so close is handy as you can flit across to the Marketplace for any supplies should you not have a car at hand. Plus the varied amount of eateries to found through both hotels and the nearby Boardwalk certainly kept us fed and watered without having to travel too far.

The real benefit is the location to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, plus transport was never a problem to any of the other Disney areas as a bus left pretty much every 20 minutes.

Should we be looking to stay on-site at Disney again, the Yacht Club will be our port of call.
