“Enjoyed our stay”
Reviewed March 15, 2014 via mobile

We stayed here recently on our first trip to Disney. We were not real familiar with other Disney lodging properties, but my husband had seen photos of the lodge and said he would like to stay there.
Upon our arrival, we went straight to the online check-in desk, since we completed the online check-in. We waited for approximately five to ten minutes while the staff dealt with the group ahead of us. After seeing another clerk was available, we moved to the regular check-in line. Since the online check-in is supposed to expedite the check-in process, this was a little frustrating.
I requested a ground level room, and my request was honored.
Once checked in we arrived to our room and received a call from housekeeping. When I made my reservations I requested special laundering due to my husband's allergies to certain laundry products. I also called a week before and confirmed the request. Housekeeping asked us about the request and informed us they were going to have to come in and change out the linens and towels. Since we were heading out to dinner, it wasn't an inconvenience, but I felt like they had plenty of time to address that before we checked in.
Otherwise, the room and beds were clean and comfortable. We were satisfied with the accommodations. It was nice to be able to grab a boat to Magic Kingdom which only took about 10 or 15 minutes, versus bus travel.
They have a really nice pool area with a waterfall that feeds into the pool, and a walking trail.
We spent so much time at the parks that we really didn't have a chance to enjoy the lodge. The quick service restaurant had a great breakfast selection, which is where we ate nearly every morning. We did not get a chance to eat at either of the other two restaurants.
This is one of Disney's upper end resorts, however, it is also the least expensive of that group. Overall we had a positive experience, and may return or venture to another resort on our next trip.

The hotel smells like old cooking oil. The food is just terrible and expensive. The rooms are outdated and dirty. The tap water smells like sulphur. Ridiculously over priced for what this hotel is. Can't believe I paid money to stay in this place.

This was our first time staying at Wilderness Lodge. We were there earlier this month (March 2014). It is a beautiful place and we were very pleased with the value. Here is a quick list of the things we loved:
Boat access directly to Magic Kingdom - very quick
Our son loved watching the Geyser
The Beach area behind the pool is quiet and relaxing
Finding the Hidden Mickeys was a fun way to spend a rainy day
The fun, loud, atmosphere of Whispering Canyon was great for kids
Family style dining at Whispering Canyon for dinner was delicious
Excellent stock of food and snacks at the Mercantile and the room refrigerator made it easy to save some $$$ on meals

Here are the reasons why I couldn't give it 5 stars:
We could hear toilets flushing constantly from our room- above us, below us, next to us
The boat horn was heard early in the morning and very late at night
The housekeepers pecked on the door bright and early each morning before we were up and out
When we were leaving, the hostess at the Magic Express wouldn't let us on the 10 am bus. The next bus at 10:30 was late, and then stopped at other resorts so we endured a 70 minute bus ride back to the airport and cut our flight close.

The complaints we had are small and we would definitely return to Wilderness Lodge in the future. Next time, we will pack a fan for 'white noise' and use a "Do Not Disturb" sign until we are out of the room.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in Sept/Oct 2013. It was absolutely breathtaking, even with us not being outdoorsy folks!
Upon checking in (which we did the week prior with the online check in feature), we were given a room upgrade with a room view facing Bay Lake. It was so beautiful! Of course, the only downside to this was that we were closer to the pool this way, and during the late afternoon when we came back for quick naps before heading back to the parks for dinner, it got quite noisy with the amount of kids and parties happening out there. But it was still a fun spot! (It is worth noting here that we did specifically state on our reservation that we were celebrating a special occasion, so they knew it was our honeymoon upon arrival).
We mainly used the boat to get to Magic Kingdom; it was fairly quick (except for one evening that turned into a 45 minute boat ride due to the water parade!) and the dock at the resort was close to our room. We rarely took the monorail, since it doesn't have a stop at this resort, so we took the bus to the other parks. All the rides were 25 minutes or less, and honestly, the time passed so quickly that it didn't even feel like half an hour had passed. The busses were rarely crowded, with the exception when parks were closing.
The food here was pretty decent! Breakfast was fantastic (I dream of the Mickey shaped waffles daily!). On our second day there, we had to cancel our dinner reservation at Tony's Town Square due to my husband getting sick (stay hydrated, folks!!), so we ended up watching Modern Family in our room and ordering pizza. It was a great alternative, really, and we didn't feel like we were wasting a night at all by staying in our room.
The quality of the room was great. I've stayed at the Contemporary before and it doesn't compare to that resort in the least bit, but it was leaps and bounds more romantic because of the woodsy atmosphere. Plus we didn't have to hear the monorail passing through at all times of the day! :)
After our first full day at the parks, we came back to an in-room celebration given to us by my boss - this isn't taken care of by the staff at DWL, but it is worth noting that these fun arrangements are so amazing!
Overall, we had a beyond fantastic stay. The nice room (and HUGE bed!!) made for a great week!

Room Tip: We were in the center section of the hotel and on the 4th floor - it was noisy during the day, due t...

Wilderness Lodge is conveniently located to the Magic Kingdom and accessible by boat or bus. Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Downtown Disney and water parks are bus accessible. Boat transportation is available to the Contemporary and Fort Wilderness (dine at the Hoop de Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness!).

Being an adult couple traveling for an anniversary celebration we upgraded from a "woods" view to a "courtyard" view for a nominal fee and were placed in a "Bear Face" room that overlooked the courtyard and pool area. The downside to this room was that on the interior side our entry door faced the atrium. It was very cool to have the totem poles and lobby to view but the Whispering Canyon restaurant located adjacent to the lobby was prone to LOUD echoing whoops and hollering throughout the day into the evening. If you have young children trying to rest these rooms are probably not the rooms you'll want to occupy.

Housekeeping was great on daily cleaning and towel/linen change outs… however we found detail issues in the room… (tip to housekeeping; pay attention to the wood carving detail on the headboard and around the baseboard of the bed). This totally surprised me as we have stayed at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Animal Kingdom in the past and everything, I mean EVERYTHING was sparkling clean and well maintained!

We much preferred the serenity and exotic concept of Animal Kingdom Lodge on our 2013 vacation with our grandkids. We loved the convenience and location of the Polynesian and Grand Floridian on past visits.
Returning later this year we'll select a different location since WDW has a plethora of lodging choices. It is with regret that I write a less than fully satisfied review of any WDW resort. This review is reflective of and is purely of my own opinion and experience and in likelihood will not repeat for the majority of WDW resort guests.

This is one of Disney's "deluxe" resorts, and it's the cheapest in that range usually. I'm not sure why it's lower priced, but it's one of the better deals in my opinion. I've stayed at a few moderates, another deluxe, and a value on my visits. To be quite honest, you could stay at the value resort and have just as good a time. The value of the hotels do not falter as you go down the price line, but these deluxe do have more perks.

The lobby of this resort is so beautiful, and many people visit the lobby as an attraction- especially at Christmas time. The pools are great, the rooms are nice (as all Disney resort rooms are). If the theme isn't your thing, then you may not like it as much. I actually personally don't always care for the wilderness theme, but this place really is nice.

I think if you really want the deluxe amenities, then this one is a good bet. I enjoyed the quick service and sit down restaurant here as well.
